Narrowing the choice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Following my intital post here - Any Kodiaq options to avoid (or look for)? - Skoda Kodiaq MK1 (2017-2023) - BRISKODA

I have adjusted the requirements (and budget) and now seem to be looking at the newest models. I've driven a TDi 150 SE, but would like a TDi 190 4x4 SE L.

The one I drove was advertised with cruise control, but it wouldn't engage - the dash said it needed a subscription. What's that about? Are there any other random complexities or gotchas with these cars?

There seem to be quite a few of my preferred model on Autotrader, several with EU74BVx registrations, which I assume were part of the same fleet at some point. Does anyone here have any info on that?

Editted because it posted before I had finished typing (again)!

As far as I'm aware the car should have adaptive cruise control as standard. Predictive/Adaptive cruise control can be specified at the time of ordering but after delivery is only available as a subscription/function on demand or a one-off purchase. The necessary hardware is already in place but needs to be activated with over the air software.

Using the DVLA system I checked a few of the EU74BVx registration range and they all seem to be 2.0 litre diesel models. Possibly allocated to the Skoda press fleet or a bulk order for a large main dealership.

I have a 2025 Sportline with the 190 diesel engine. I strongly recommend you go for one with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). This will give you drive options such as eco, normal, sport and individual. It makes a massive positive difference to the handling of the car. DCC does not come as standard on the SEL model but is available as an option.

So ACC is standard but PCC is an option that can be added later? I couldn't get any form of CC to work on my test drive, but it sounds like it may have been user error - thank you!

The DCC sounds interesting, I had considered a Sportline, but felt that the SE L offered more useful options day to day. I'll see if I can find one with DCC, but it sounds like it might have been a rare choice. I see some are advertised with 'Drive Mode selection' or 'Driving Dynamics System' - are they the same thing?

Additional question added and refined

Dynamic Drive Mode is part of Drive Mode Select which in turn comes with DCC. I don't think the first two are available separately. My current car is my fifth Kodiaq. An SE, 2 x L&K, an SEL (with no DCC - big mistake and I got shot of it after only 6 months) all diesels. I dealt with Henrys Skoda in Glasgow for all 5 and almost without asking got 2 x free services, mud flaps all round, fabric floor mats, rubber boot liner and registration plates suitable for use in Europe (Union Flag and the letters UK).

Best advice I can give you is ask around about dealerships, check their after sales service, find a good one and stick with them. The good ones will value return business. The bad ones (and they are out there) couldn't give a f*** !

Good hunting Sammycarp.

Thanks Colin, I really appreciate the help. This has been first foray into dealerships for a long time after years of company cars, so the lackadaisical attitude of some of the 'Sales Executives' came as a bit of a shock. At least the internet can help me find and research a car anywhere in the country without leaving the house 😁

You're very welcome !!

Enjoy your new car - you deserve it. I compliment you on your final choice. The sportline in eco mode allows you to save diesel by coasting. Long term use of eco can result in average mpg figures in the low 50s. In sport mode using the flappy paddles it's an absolute beast. Good luck.

I have the 150 diesel SEL without DCC and regularly see low 50’s mpg.

I have seen low 60’s occasionally too. Average mpg is 52 over the last 15 months.

Enjoy the new car
