  1. Thanks solved, Halfords 2 mins away so just replaced them and light has gone. Appreciated.
  2. Thanks both, they were pretty corroded, once over with some contact cleaner, no change. (But they not looking great anyway so might change alongside the indicator and see what happens.
  3. Hi all, Ran the car through a wash earlier today (against better judgement, self service was broken, hose pipe ban and dirty af) and immediately got the yellow exterior bulb warning light on the dash. I've done a walkaround and everything seems to be functioning. Headlights, high/low beams, DRLs, fogs, reversing, and number plate lights are all coming on. There was some water on the headlight housing, but it's sealed and the rubber covers were dry. I haven't been able to check the brake lights properly yet as I don't have a second person but expect they are fine. The indicators are all working, but looking closely at the left wing mirror, it looks like maybe one of the LEDs in the strip might be out? It's very bright outside today, so it is honestly quite hard to tell for certain. My question is: would a single dead LED in that sealed wing mirror unit be enough to trigger the dash warning due to a resistance drop? Or is it more likely just water ingress somewhere else from the pressure washer bridging a connection that will clear up once it dries out? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers.
  4. So none can seemingly help. I am told 'The server is down' but I think this means they do not have access to the VAG database. I believe they used to buy access tokens from garages. But I think the legacy VAG system is being discontinued and the new version is harder to exploit.
  5. Yea I'm leaning towards doing both (repair and getting aftermarket unit)
  6. I don't know if I can buy another OEM one when I have 2 already. Tempted to attempt to repair the digitiser in the one that came with the car. But assume that's another rabbit hole that will end in wasted money.
  7. So I am now the proud owner of three head units. One which is locked and I can't decode. One with a broken screen which works (except for display) and one that is a piece of crap aftermarket one which won't turn on. For my sanity, please could someone recommend a decent unit, that doesn't require me to cut wires, that is not a piece of crap and fits into the existing trim and doesn't look terrible. There's so many out there and it's hard to know which ones are good.
  8. Thanks all. Just to update. I was right the leak was a bit right of centre, which is where the secondary/electric pump is on the VRS. Replaced and all fine now.
  9. So as an update for anyone who stumbled across this and my attempt to make the head unit work/unlock it. This is a Blaupunkt Bolero unit: Skoda Part: 1Z0 035 156 F Blaupunkt Part: 7 648 258 360 I successfully dumped the M95128 EEPROM. But after more research I now know this specific revision uses a dual security architecture. The PIN is tied to both the 95128 EEPROM and the NEC microcontroller on the main board. Gave up at this point. Hopefully, this thread saves someone else the headache of trying to unlock this themselves if they can't access the processor
  10. So like one week of ownership, thought my biggest problems was getting music sorted and some power for road trip. Seems like I was wrong. Went on a short trip today. Engine temp light came on. 5 mins back home and see leak in driveway. Coolant up to the pipe in the reservoir. Can't see a leak, can see a fresh splash on the under tray maybe slightly right of centre. Look at coolant diagram, there's so many points of failure. Any advice for troubleshooting appreciated. Keeping in mind that most work on car that is mechanical is out of my comfort zone? Do I top up with water and take to a garage? Making this sound. (If helpful) Ive got like 2 weeks until I'm meant to be on a road trip.
  11. No I could see the light through the gap where the head unit was out. Because the switch dial is missing I'm assuming it is just set to on? I poked around in the hole where the dial seems to go but couldn't seem to find a mechanism. But also I can feel the switch clicking when I depress the glove box so assuming the glove box hinge probably needs tightening in some way? It's not a big concern as it's off when locked. Will replace light with normal bulbs and see if that helps, but they have completely stopped working now.
  12. Mostly because I took the head unit out and could see it. So I could see the light on and it's off when I press the glove box in. I don't think it will be a problem, I just like things to work as they should. I think the actual circular switch has been pulled off. Thanks will have a look at how I can use it.
  13. Ok I have worked out the device in the glove box is MDI, but it's box with an extension to another female MDI port. Unsure what for? On the code I got a response which just said 'we can't decide Skoda radios at this time' anyone know why this would be?
  14. Hello people, I got a 2011, VRS a few days ago. Primarily for a long trip. Seems decent so far, but I want to add power, music and just get things working. I have a few issues/questions. Hoping these are common and easy for experienced here, I have been trawling forum, maybe I have missed some stuff. The head unit did not display. The touch screen worked but there was no display. I tried removing fuse. No luck. (Bolero, Delphi) I purchased a head unit from breaker (Bolero, blaupunkt), assuming I could easily generate a code. However none of the normal sites work and say they cannot generate a code. Some say 'a Skoda serial was detected but it is 10 digits longer than expected' (definitely isn't) I could cut my losses and get an aftermarket unit, but tbh I like things to be stock. Any advice appreciated The glove box light is always on when the doors are unlocked. I can't see where the switch is for detecting glove box closure, if I push it hard it turns off, but on when I remove pressure. The light switch seems missing (just a round area with an off centre hole) - anyone know where the switch is, and whether I can replace the actual manual switch? The cabin/map lights blink/flash. They seem to be LED? I removed the fuse and cleaned it a bit and they flash less(will replace fuse and see what that does) anyone had this before? There is something in the glove box, like a old iPhone charger, it is Skoda branded, is this the ODB reader? Not seen this format before. It looks like the previous owner had a reverse camera and usb power attached to a different head unit but remove it and chopped wires before sale. If I do go aftermarket any recommendations that keep good features (Aircon display? Reverse. Sensor display etc) let me know. I plan to add some usb units via fuse spur. Any key points or quirks for this particular vehicle appreciated. Thanks!
  15. Good Evening SkodaHeads, Colin, from London. Owned a Skoda for like 4 days. Mostly a bike person. Been a long time since I joined a forum like this..
