  1. The Meriva CDTI

After the Astra I got this little MPV to do a bit of chauffeuring for a family friend

Now this review should be a little more meaty.

I'll admit when Vauxhall first launched the car I thought the suicide doors were a gimmick.......but this ar has changed my opinion.

First thoughts upon getting in were oh hell not another electronic parking brake!!!

    But after that things improved.

The 1.3 CDTI pulls well, the gear change was nice and smooth and it even handled pretty well.

Equipment it was equipped to the same standard as the Astra with cruise, mp3 stereo, air con etc...

On the motorway there is a lot of tyre noise but it didnt affect me much.

I read reviews afterward saying the 1.3CDTI struggles. OK I wasnt carrying anything to taxing other than 1 passenger and a sewing machine but it seemed like it would cope well with a load and didnt mind cruising.

I almost didnt want to hand this one back.

  2. Since selling my Saab I have been carless so now my motoring is done via the fastest cars in the world.......Rental cars!!

The first car I hired this year was an Astra 1.4

It was pretty much fully loaded coming with air con, cruise, decent stereo that you can plug an mp3 player into.

My first gripe initially was getting used to the fiddlt electronic hand/parking brake.

Once I got used to it I found the Astra drove pretty well and isnt bad to just cruise around in.

After driving it.....I can't get excited by it it was lacking something.

The 1.4 engine, ok to cruise with and great to press on with, just runs out of puff approaching triple figures.

But stick it on motorwat cruising speed and enjoy the ride.

Yes it's a fine drive, equipped well, feels great to be in and well screwed together but that was just it.

It's a bit of a lacklustre review!! because I can't think of anything to get excited about.

  3. The SIM clip broke on mine. and my Android DEXT keyboard is busted.

trying to type on a tochscreen is annoying for me!

I gotta say though these things are still bloody robust!! and works as a PDA

Windows live works well like Google (ish) but doesnt Sync with 7 and Outlook.

I'm tempted to Mazuma mine and buy this.

  4. Forests belong to the people, not relentless profit machines.

I for one would not want more huge Tescos springing up or industrial estates. Have you seen how much disused space there is around?

Don't people enjoy walking through forests, by lakesides etc anymore?

If these privte industrial types are going to keep the woodland areas then fine but otherwise it would just be flattened and that would be a terrible waste and shameful.

  5. It was good but apart from the aussies coming out of a prison van the challenges weren't all that.

That Transit was awesome though. an XJ220!!!!

The Star in the car, the C'eed looks like it's getting quite good times.

Any idea on who the new Stig could be?
