  1. Did a bit more on the Fireblade yesterday Afternoon after work, Went through the rest of the Bike... : Removed RHS Rearset & Pillion Footpegs, Stripped, Fully Degreased and re-assembled. : Replaced the Front Brake Pads as they where around 60% Worn, Rear Brake Pads are like New and are Sinters. Went for some EBC HH Sinters which I won on ebay. They where bought in error by someone and I paid 50% of what they normally sell for. Happy days. : Brake Calipers & Pins degreased, Cleaned, Pistons pushed back by hand. : Lower Fairings Degreased, Cleaned and Hand Polished. : Re-Aligned the Exhaust, It was slightly off centre as can be seen in my pictures earlier in this Thread. Cleaned the Carbon Fibre and Titanium Link Pipe. : All Plastics/Fairings and Tank Hand Polished, Touched up a few Small Chips here and there. : Noticed a Bolt Head Cover/Cap was missing just below the Seat, Popped onto Fowlers to look at the exploded view of the Parts and found a Genuine Honda item for £2.80. Couple of pictures... Missing Cap/Cover...
  2. Its here! Every now and again days go just how you want them to, Worked early this morning and halfway through my shift got the call to say the Bike was ready for delivery. I had been home 20 Mins and the Van pulled up outside Just want to say that Jordan Bikes who I have been dealing with now for a number of Years have really gone above and beyond, In addition to the Major Service they have done on the Bike and removing the Alarm they have also fitted a Brand New Chain & Sprockets free of charge as their Technician said there was a couple of tight links and they wanted it right for me so replaced the lot. Superb! As always, The bike was put straight onto the Ramp in the Garage and the deep cleaning commenced. Spent around 5 Hours this Afternoon on the Bike and its not yet finished. Not found anything unexpected on the Bike, It does have the odd age related mark but its 15 Years old so this is no surprise. It is already looking much better after a bit of TLC. So far I have... : Removed the Lower Fairings ready for deep cleaning tomorrow. : Removed the Rear Hugger & Chain Guard, All Degreased, Cleaned and refitted. : Rear Swingarm area all Degreased. : Front Engine Area & Exhaust Cleaned, ACF-50 Applied. : LHS Rear Set removed, Full degreased, New Genuine Footpeg fitted as old item was damaged slightly. : Replaced RHS R&G Frame Bobbin, It was slightly scuffed from the previous owner getting the Bike down the side of his house. Did its job and protected the Fairing. : Fitted some R&G Paddock Stand Bobbins, Found these in my toolbox. : Replaced x 5 of the M6 Fairing Panel Push Clips. Its coming on, Will be doing some more on the bike over the coming days. Some pics of todays efforts...
  3. And onto the next Bike/Project As some of you know I have just sold my 2020 BMW S1000R Sport last Week and have been scouring the Used Bike Market for something no replace it with, I had a shortlist of about 10 Bikes all differing in age and style of Bike. I had a 1999 Honda Fireblade a few Years back and always promised myself a 2006/2007 Model if the right example popped up and in the Red/Black Colour Scheme. In my opinion these are one of the best looking Fireblades with the Underseat Exhaust and Upside Down Forks, The Styling changed post 2008 and I have never been much of a fan of those later Bikes. Well last night the stars aligned and the right Bike in the right Colour located at a Dealership I know very well came up. Spotted the advert during my Break last night, Finished my Afternoon shift at 1am and drove up to Leeds this morning for when they opened as I have missed out on Bikes like this in the past so wasn't going to let it happen this time. Did all my usual poking around and for a 15 Year old Bike it has the usual very minor age related marks here and there but it really is superb and I had to remind myself of its age when I was been hypercritical. I decided I was having it and got the Deal I was happy with, The Bike is getting a Interim Service including Oil & Filter, Spark Plugs, Brake Fluids. They are removing the Datatool Alarm as they are a PITA and I hate them, They are Delivering the Bike and knocked £200 off the price. Happy Days! Comes at some point next Week so will be going straight into the Garage for some usual Bonelorry treatment. The Bike... 2006 Honda CBR1000RR-6 Fireblade, Last of the Lightweights 176KG/170BHP. No Electronics, No Rider Aids etc. 11300 Miles 4 Previous Owners Very good Service History with about 8 Stamps Has a few really nice extra's too Akrapovic Carbon Can with Titanium Link Pipe £700 Worth Genuine Colour Coded Rear Pillion Seat Cover Genuine Honda Tank Protector R&G Aero Frame Protectors Powerbronze Screen Rear Paddock Stand Bobbins Future Plans... The Bike is already very well prepared and is a credit to its previous owners but I want to go through it all. I want to replace the Front Screen for an MRA or something like that, The Powerbronze one fitted is showing its age. Replace the Paddock Stand Bobbins for some Evotech Items. Other than that just leave it alone and enjoy it, Obviously it will be for Summer use only and on a limited Mileage basis but I am planning on getting a Second Bike of similar age but that offers a totally different riding experience to keep my options open but we shall see. Couple of Dealership Images, Will post some fresh ones when I get the Bike...
  4. When I said something older I meant within the last 15-20 Years I had ridden a few Bikes from the 70's but I am not sure I would want to own something from that era.
  5. Exactly what the Wife said Couple of options regarding the Bike, I keep thinking about getting a few Older Bikes equal to the value of the BMW. Then again I could end up with anything with my track record.
  6. And this One has sold Just had a chap from the BMW S1000R Sport Owners Group at my House who left a deposit on the Bike and picks it up on Friday. He was after buying one so I offered mine and stated a price I was happy with, He viewed it Today and was blown away with the condition. Doubt he would have got a better example without buying a new one to be honest. Been a while since I have sold a Bike privately but he was superb to deal with. Onto the next project whatever that might be
  7. Gave the car its usual Detail yesterday Morning, Parked it under the Car Port and stood back to admire my hard work then... Decided the Side Bump Strips on the Doors had to go and embarked on a 2 Hour Job to remove them, Do you ever start doing something then regret it within a few Minutes but its too late and you have to see it through? Anyway I am glad I saw it through and the Car looks much Cleaner now in my opinion. Tools/Process used... : Heat Gun to gently warm up the Glue, This enabled the Strips to be peeled off the Doors. : Left behind was all of the Adhesive Glue which secured the Strips onto the Car, Again I gently Heated the Glue up which softened it and enabled it to be slowly peeled off in stages. : Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover was used to remove the remaining adhesive left behind. : Once 95% of Glue was removed there was a few really stubborn Black marks left behind from the adhesive so I used a Caramel Wheel on the Drill to remove those. I then Washed and Dried the Doors, Did a couple of Passes on each door using the D/A and Megs 105/205 Combo and added a Coat of Collinites 845 Wax on each Door. Excuse the crappy mobile phone pics! Old strips removed... Results...
  8. Finally got out on the Bike Today for its Maiden Voyage I have been itching to get out over the past few Days as we have had a Dry spell after some Heavy Rain which washed all the Road Salt away. I had drained the Tank on the Bike last Week and filled it with some fresh Shell V-Power as I knew it wouldn't be long before I got out. Just finished a row of shifts and had 3 days of Training in Leeds on a Course for work which has melted my head and after the final assessment I got away early this Afternoon. Anyway long story short I needed some time out so swapped the Visors over on my Arai Helmet for the Clear one, Checked the Tyre Pressures on the Bike headed out for an Hour just as it was going Dark. Did about 35 steady Miles just to ensure everything is OK with the Bike, I have not ridden anything since last July when I sold my Suzuki Hayabusa so took it easy for the most part. All seems fine with the Bike as expected, I have owned a couple of these in the past but they never fail to amaze me. Just a superb package and so agile. Looking forward to my next Ride, Will hopefully get out for a full day soon when Weather and shifts allow.
  9. Yes RS Wheels have done a top job, I have no issues recommending them. They are also only 15 Mins drive from my House so convenient too. I didn’t need to borrow any loan wheels as I have 2 x Set of Wheels and Tyres, I still had my 16” Steels and Winter Tyres fitted while the Alloys where getting refurbished. I do know they offer a loan service though if required as they asked me if I needed any. Onto AP in Rotherham, last used them in 2017 when they did my MK1 Fabia VRS Alloys. Again they did a very good job and I would have used them again but wanted to try RS Wheels this time.
  10. I just re-read my post and made a typing mistake I don't use both products on the same Glass. Cannot edit it now but I use the Fast Glass on all the Interior Glass and inner Windscreen as it leaves no residue and the insides are not exposed to Weather or Road grime etc. The Glass Polish I use on the Exterior Glass as it has better cleaning properties but I no longer us it on the Windscreen as I found it can make the Wipers Judder. So Fast Glass Interior, Glass Polish Exterior except Windscreen.
  11. Well when I got up this Morning the Weather was shocking and I didn't I would get anywhere near the Golf today but then after some Breakfast and a Coffee the Clouds parted and it turned into a cracking Day for Detailing. As mentioned, Yesterday I collected my Alloys from the Refurbishers and got them fitted on the Car last night. I am really happy with how the Car is now looking, My hard work has paid off and condition wise the Golf is now at the stage I want it to be at for a Daily Driver. Gave the Car a bit of a Winter Maintenance Wash today plus the addition of dressing any Plastics, Once the better Weather comes I will do another Paint Decon, Use the D/A to do some Correction work and get some Wax on there. Wash Process used Today... : Pre-Wash using AG Polar Blast Snow Foam using Autobrite HD Lance, Left for 10 Minutes to Dwell. : Full thorough Rinse using Autobrite QR Shorty Gun & Green 25 Degree Head. : Contact Wash done with 2BM using Megs Ultimate Shampoo & Gtechniq Microfibre WM2 Wash-mitt. : Valet Pro Detailing Brush used on any Nooks and Crannies. : Autoglym Polar Seal application. : Thoroughly Rinsed. : Towel Dried using Elite Car Care Plush Drying Towel. : Wheel Arches initially cleaned at Pre-Wash Stage, At Contact Stage finished off using Shampoo to High Concentrate and Trigger Spray Bottle, Vikan Wheel Arch Brush and thoroughly rinsed. : Alloys are freshly refurbished but where Washed using MF Mitt, Towel Dried and given a Coat of Collinites NO:845 Wax. Other Exterior... : Autoglym Fast Glass on all Windows. : Autoglym Glass Polish on all Windows except Front Screen. : All Plastics, Mudguards, Wheel Arch Liners Dressed using Aerospace 303. : Tyres Dressed using Autolym Vinyl and Rubber Care and Microfibre to wipe off excess. : Tailpipes hand Polished using Autosol. Couple of pictures...
  12. @Chunk11 Sounds like the Salesperson is either trying it on or just plain stupid. Either way I echo what others have said and I have done this in the past, Put something in an Email just asking for confirmation of the Deal that you have verbally agreed.
  13. Picked up the Alloys from RS Wheels this Morning, Very happy with the Service and most importantly the Colour & Finish on the Wheels. They have done a top job. Wheels have been Fully refurbished and Powder Coated OEM Silver, I have fitted some new Centre Caps too to finish them off. Managed to get an Hour in the Garage tonight so took the Winter Steels off and fitted the Alloys back on the Car as I am hoping we are past the worst of the Winter Weather now. I also gave the Rear Calipers a Coat of Hammerite Smooth Black, I did paint them last Year but I had to replace the Rear Calipers for some new items and never got around to painting them again. Will get some pictures of them on the Car some point this Week...
  14. Some do play hard ball and say they have very little margins in the Bike to be able to do much with the price, I have paid full asking price in the past but have negotiated a fresh MOT & Fresh Service into the Deal. I once asked for 6 Months on the Warranty instead of the standard 3 Months. With regard to their Website price, I know from experience BMW sometimes have different prices on Ebay/Biketrader than their own Websites. The adverts are all done from different locations so sometimes there is a delay updating all the adverts if a Bike has been reduced. As far as you are concerned though the cheapest price they have the Bike advertised for is the One you are enquiring about, I do agree with you though if it is the Bike you want don't lose it for a couple of hundred pounds. I have walked away from Bikes before due to not been able to do the deal I wanted and then a few Days later having had time to think about it decided to pay the extra £200-£300 and then the Bike had sold to someone else. With regards to the admin fee, If they don't waver that and want to charge it on top of the price of the Bike I would be inclined to walk away. Atleast that should be swallowed up and your offer of £5100 should be acceptable.
  15. No worries, Keep us posted. Onto the BMW, Sadly its not turned a Wheel since I took Delivery 2 Weeks ago but I am itching to get out. I work shifts and just finished my last one Today so I am off now until Friday, Fingers crossed the Weather sorts itself out as over the last 5 Days we have had Heavy Rain, Gale Force Winds, Hail, Snow and everything else in between. On a plus note the Heavy Rain should have washed the Road Salt away so if we get a dry spell I might get out...Fingers crossed,
  16. Ahh thats a fair point, I wasn't aware of the Deal you had with that Dealership. I know your not new to this but some Dealerships can take advantage and try it on hence my posts earlier Looks smart that Versys, Just had a quick look at if its the Bike in Preston it looks like a good buy. Echoing what GYP said about the Versys they are a very good all rounder, I did about 500 Miles on the Loan Bike with about 250 of those on the A1 at 70mph and a day out in Derbyshire having a bit of fun. I would love one if I needed a Bike for commuting on. With regards to the Distance selling, As far as I know you have 14 Days from taking Delivery of the Bike to reject it. Also if at the point of Delivery the Bike is not as described you can refuse it. This is why I struggled this time to buy a Bike, If the Showrooms where open I would walk in, Spend 10 Mins looking at the Bike and if it was Cosmetically upto my standards I would ask to look at the Paperwork. With the current situation it took a few days per Bike including 20-30 HD Images, Videos with close ups and Phonecalls back and forth to rule out each Bike. Got there in the end though and the Bike was exactly as described. I did have the luxury that I have already ridden and previously owned a couple of BMW S1000R Sports in the past which ruled out have to Test Ride them which I guess might have been an issue with a Bike I was less familiar with, That said the Versys 650 is designed to be user friendly for a wide range of riders and with the current cooling off period if you hated the Bike I am sure you have the right to reject it. Just had a quick look at an ombudsmen Website... : If you’ve placed a deposit on a vehicle at a distance, either online or over the phone, you are entitled to cancel your order within 14 days and receive a full refund of your deposit, regardless of your reasons or any money the retailer has spent. : If you’ve paid for a vehicle in full, and taken delivery of it, you have 14 days to change your mind from when you receive the vehicle – again, you don’t have to give a reason for cancelling and the retailer must give you a full refund. : If the retailer doesn’t give you information about your rights under a distance sale at the time of delivery, including your right to cancel the purchase within 14 days, then you’ll have up to 12 months to cancel your order and receive a refund.
  17. If you are happy to pay it and feel its worth £330 then fair enough! That said the last BMW I bought in 2019 from a Dealership who did their own Delivery, It was around a 250 Mile round trip and they said it would be £149 additional cost. I didn't haggle on the price of the Bike so said take the £149 out of the profit in the Bike or I will offer you £149 less than the asking price for the Bike, I didn't really care how they did it but I wasn't paying anything for Delivery when other Dealerships offered it free. Needless to say they didn't charge me and did the Deal. As for this Year, With Distance selling due to COVID Dealerships are desperate to get Sales. I have just bought another BMW and had it Delivered Free of charge. It was only a 70 Mile round trip this time but I had been dealing with Dealerships up and down the UK during my search including BMW Motorrad in Plymouth which is around a 600 Mile round trip to Sheffield for Delivery. The only reason I didn't buy from the Plymouth Dealership was that the Bike wasn't upto my standards condition wise so walked away. At the point of enquiry though I told them where I was located and they said they would deliver the Bike Free of charge if I paid the asking price. Personally I would walk away from the deal but that would be my choice. I had a 2018 Versys 650 for about 10 Days as a Courtesy Bike when one of my Kawasaki's needed some Warranty work so was at the Dealership for a few Weeks. I enjoyed it to be honest, Very Comfortable, Good Visibility, Torquey Motor, Surprisingly fun to ride. Regarding the Fireblade, I am not a big fan of them after 2007 which is the last of the underseat exhaust models. Honda took a step backwards in my opinion. I think that a 2006-2008 4C8 R1 of similar age would be a much better purchase in all aspects, Dare I say I would even rather have a GSXR1000 K7/K8/K9 of similar age.
  18. £330 Delivery Fee? That's a bit extortionate?
  19. Spent a couple of Hours fettling at the Weekend, Not really a job that needed doing due the little Mileage the Bike has done but something I always do on all my Bikes is to give the Brakes a quick check over for my own personal satisfaction. On these and most Bikes all the Brakes are built up dry from the factory which isn't a big deal until they get wet, The Brembo's on the front are renowned to be particularly delicate and the OEM Pads have a Raw Metal finish on the backings which can react when wet with the Aluminium on the Caliper itself. Its not so much of an issue with the Rear Brake Caliper as its a different design with Stainless Shims that the Pad moves on. I have seen a few fellow all Year round riders on the S1000R owners club run into issues with Binding Brakes on the Front and Brake Pads that weld themselves into the Caliper. This is on Bikes that are used in the worst of Weathers I might add. As I said even though my Bike has done little mileage, When I removed the Front Brake Pads you could clearly see some discolouration where the Pad sits in the Caliper and it has been wet probably from been Washed at some point and then put away. What I did... : Removed Front and Rear Brake Calipers. : All Brake Pads removed, Lightly rubbed the Backing Plates to remove Oxidisation. : Pistons pushed back by hand : Calipers given a clean using Putoline Brake Cleaner and microfibre, Just to remove Brake Dust on inside. : Brake Pads all given light application of Putoline Ceramic Grease on any contact areas before refitting. I also drained the Fuel out as I am not sure what is in there and will be putting a fresh Tank of Shell V-Power in before the first outing. Just waiting for a good Downpour to wash away the Road Salt and I am looking forward to getting out on it.
  20. Well its getting to that time of the Year when the Winter Wheels and Tyres can come off the Car, I wanted to get the Alloys Refurbished before I refit them onto the Car as there was the odd Minor mark on them. Last set I had done was in 2017 was on the Fabia VRS at a place in Rotherham called AP, Many people locally use Metal Magic in Barnsley but I have seen some of their work on a set of friends alloys and wasn't overly impressed with the finish. Decided to use a company called RS Wheel Refurbishment, Based in Sheffield and are actually on the same Industrial Estate as the Mechanic I know and use for all my Servicing & MOT's. Had a chat with them on the phone to get a rough quote and they said £216 including VAT for all Four Alloys, This includes removing and refitting the Tyres with New Valves and Wheel Balancing. I dropped them off this Morning and they should hopefully be done Next Week at some point, Just gone for the same OEM Silver Colour and I will get a Brand New set of Centre Caps to finish them off
  21. Cheers mate appreciate it! Well I am lucky to work shifts and get blocks of time off in-between, That said in June we are expecting our first Baby so my Spare time will be a bit more limited but its all good.. As for your last comment, You never know with me
  22. The BMW is now here, I have made a dedicated Project Thread for it on here....
  23. Well its here!! Firstly I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the Service I have received with Williams Motorrad, Just superb and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Made the entire process of distance buying very easy (even for someone as picky as me) The Bike was Delivered on Friday Lunchtime and I was like a kid stood looking out of the living room Window every 5 mins waiting First impressions of the Bike when the van was taken out of the Van where excellent, I still had about 10 Mins scrutinising everything before accepting the Bike and signing the paperwork but the Bike was as described with no surprises. Even though it has done just 506 Dry Miles I could see it would benefit from a Detail just to get it back to 100%, Something I was happy about too as I love getting stuck in. In total I spent about 4 Hours on Friday and 5 Hours on Saturday working on the Bike and enjoyed every minute of it. My new Clarke CML3 Workshop Ramp also made things so much easier and paid for itself over the last few days. So here is what I have been upto over the last few days... : Fitted New Wunderlich Sport Screen, Light Tint : Fitted New Evotech Radiator & Oil Cooler Guards : Fitted New Evotech Paddock Stand Bobbins : Fitted Genuine BMW Tank Protector : Fitted Oxford Charging Lead : Fitted Dynamic Pro Riding Mode Coding Plug While fitting all over the above, I was cleaning, Degreasing, Detailing parts along the way. : Removed All Engine Plastics inc Belly Pan & Front Mudguard. All washed, Dried, Hand Polished and 1 x Coat of Collinites Wax applied. : Tank Hand Polished and 1 x Coat of Collinites Wax applied. : All Front of Engine and Headers given Polished using Autosol, Then treated with ACF50. Wiped off excess with Micorfibre. : Catalytic Converter Polished and ACF50'd. : Removed Hugger and Chain Guard, All De-greased and Cleaned. : All Swingarm & Rear Shock Area De-Greased, Cleaned. : Chain De-Greased using Muc-Off Chain Cleaner, Cleaned each link by hand and Re-Lubricated using Wurth High Performance Dry Chain Lubricant. : Rear Wheel wiped with Microfibre and GT85 to lightly degrease and remove Chain Wax Spots. : Removed Front Fork Leg Reflectors. Possibly forgot something but you get the idea. A few snaps for your viewing pleasure... Obligatory delivery van image... Here was how the Bike looked when I took delivery and not had the Bonelorry treatment, Note the Colour of the Chain lathered in horrible Wax, Colour of the Catalytic Convertor/Exhaust... Off with the Original Screen if you could call it that, More like a Clock Cover IMO... New Wunderlich Sport Light Smoke Screen fitted, Looks superb and is apparently very functional... Dynamic Pro Coding Plug fitted, Basically the BMW Dealership will not fit this as it allows for Traction Control, Anti Wheelie and ABS to be turned off and even though I won't ever do this on the Road I still wanted all available Riding Modes to be available. They will supply you with the Coding Plug to fit yourself... Oxford OF703 Charging Lead fitted, This is a swine of a job! Zero Clearance under the Seats and Rear Plastics to route the Wiring to the Battery so quite a bit has to be removed first to give clearance. I wanted a totally subtle and neat install. Most people just fit them and have them Cable Tied to a Footpeg, Very happy with the install. Sits under the Pillion Seat and is invisible with the Seat attached... All Plastics removed, Washed, Dried, Polished, Waxed... The Plastics needed to be removed to fit the Evotech Radiator and Oil Cooler Guards, All refitted now and looking smart. Very functional and well made bits of kit from Evotech... Headers and Cat all Polished, ACF50 Applied... Chain, Sprocket, Swingarm Area. Much better... Genuine BMW Tank Pad Fitted, These can be a PITA to fit. I have seen people with masking tape all over the Tank to get it straight, Done a few of these of over the past few Years and and did it by Eye... All finished, Ready for going under its Cover. No more ugly Fork Reflectors either...
  24. Firstly I know its not a Car but I believe this Section allows for Non Skoda & other projects?? Apologies to Mods if it isn't allowed in this Section. So I have had a few Bikes and I have actually owned a couple of BMW S1000R Sports in the past, A couple of Gen 1 2016 Models and then a Gen 2 2018 Model. I sold my last one and bought a Suzuki Hayabusa, The Suzuki went last Summer and I said I was going to have a break from Bikes, Buy a Second Car to have as a Toy and then began looking at Bikes again in December and here I am. I know I am a nightmare, I cannot help it though So what I have bought? I looked at all sorts, Considered a few Bikes I have not yet owned but there are not that many Bikes I actually want to own. Nearly went for a Fully Faired S1000RR Sport and then talked myself out of it. I didn't want to buy Brand New due to the depreciation and I don't do PCP as I am old school so was looking at stuff that was 1-2 Years old but my main criteria was condition. So as you have probably figured out by now I have bought... Another BMW S1000R Sport, This is a slightly different to the last One due to the fact its Blue instead of White. : 2020/20 Plate Gen 2, 165BHP, S1000R Sport : San Marino Blue Metallic : Sport and Dynamic Package so has all the toys including Cruise, Shift Assist allowing Up & Down Clutchless Gearshifts, Also has the Optional BMW Factory Alarm. : Done just 506 Miles from New Its a 1 Owner Bike, Owned by BMW UK so not a Demonstrator. A Motorrad Manager had the Bike as his own and it has clearly been well looked after. Registered June 2020 and had its Running in Service in October 2020 at 500 Miles, It has not been ridden since and has never seen a Winter or by the looks of things seen any Wet Weather full stop. It was difficult to find an example I was interested in despite there been a few to choose from, It was made more difficult due to Covid restrictions and distance selling. I rejected about 5 Bikes up and down the UK, All with 1000 Miles or less as I wanted something that had not been used as an Ex-Demo or through Winter. I asked as much detail over the Phone, I was sent some HD Pictures and was sent a 12 Min HD Video going into a lot of Detail, The Salesman knew what my expectations where as I had already refused another of the Bikes in their Stock. He assured me that it was One of the best used examples he had seen and that I wouldn't be disappointed. The only pic I has of the Bike upto when it was Delivered... To Be Continued...
  25. Well its been a little while since my last update on the Golf, Annoyingly Todays was not the sort of update I would have liked to Post but... Rather embarrassingly and for the first time in 16 Years of Driving I misjudged a gap turning into the Car Park at work, The Car Park has a few Pot-Holes which I always avoid but in doing so you have to turn sharply right and get close to the Large Steel Gatepost on the entrance. I don't know why I did it but I got too close to the Gatepost this Morning and scuffed the OSR Door and Bump Strip in the process Don't worry, I have said some strong words to myself!!! Upon inspecting what I had done I was very thankful that firstly the Scrape was just on the Door and not the Rear 3/4 Panel, Secondly the Panel was not dented in anyway. It was just surface marks. Anyway I got home around 12:30 after my shift and cracked on to see what I could do to improve the situation and to say I am pleased with myself in an understatement. What I did... : Washed and Dried the Door. : 3 x Hits with the DAS 6 Pro and Orange Hex Pad with Megs 105 Ultra Cut Compound. : 1 x Hit with the DAS Pro and White Hex Pad with Megs 205 Ultra Finishing Polish. : Hand Applied Poorboys Black Hole and removed with Microfibre. : 1 x Coat of Collinites 845 Wax. : Lightly used a Heat gun to bring out the Oils on the Door Bump Strip which removed about 90% of the scuff mark. : Dressed using AG Bumper & Trim Gel, Buffed excess off with Microfibre to finish. Couple of pics... This was what I was greeted with when I got out of the Car... After the Work with the DAS6 Pro, Managed to remove pretty much all the marks. Bump Strip not sorted at this point... Poorboys Black Hole followed by a Coat of Collinites Wax, Bump Strip scuff removed and Dressed...
