  1. Apoligies what is a 'central convience?'
  2. Thanks for the reply Wja96! Out of interest what do you make of the Audi you've got, imagine it shifts...
  3. Looks great! Selling the springs you had on previously?
  4. Yeh different engine used from about that time. Most probably due to emissions. No official increase in power; Skoda still sold the car as 130bhp etc but many suggest that such later blt engines offer a bit more poke than its predecessor. Also offers the dreaded stutter but thats for another thread...
  5. 5 hours! lol what time are you setting off? or going the day before the course?
  6. I would recommend erring on the side of higher revs as making the engine labour arguably wastes more fuel. I look to change around 2k rpm's in normal driving.
  7. +1 for the lumbar support. Squeeze it to inflate and increase support on lumbar section of the back. Press button at base of 'balloon' to relieve air.
  8. Hiya Jonny, I live in Hinckley. In my opinion Hinckley and surrounding area is very nice - good combination of shops / businesses etc and still only a stone's throw away from fairly rural areas and roads. Googling your postcode suggests you'll be near Sharnford which opens up many nice villages and towns in the south of Leicestershire. As above has said Burbage is very nice. Barwell is thought by many as not as nice as Hinckley / Burbage but still some very nice parts. Also a previous poster warned of the Wykin area, perhaps worth mentioning that their is actually two Wykins - Wykin (which isnt very nice) and Wykin village which is very posh and consists mainly of large houses on generous plots of land. If you have any specific questions then please dont hesitate to PM me - I'd be more than happy to help.
  9. Yeh, i found the same! Can anybody compare the two cars? Interested to hear how much quicker an S3 feels than a Fabia - considering similar torque figures and the Fabia's concentrated power delivery...
  10. Cheers, signed up to have a look. First impressions is the forum is nowhere near as populated / informative as Briskoda
  11. Hi all, owned my standard 56 plate Fabia VRS for two years now and got to the stage where I won't be covering very many miles any more. So at a bit of a crossroads...I quite fancy one of the old S3's as a bit of fun before i'm a bit older and have other commintments etc but am a little worried that most examples appear to have a very high mileage (100k plus). My car is now 4 years old and covered 35,000 miles so technically needs a cambelt service due to age which i would have done if i was to keep it and then probably go down the lowered + remap route... Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Audi S3's, especcially if you could compareit to the Fabia VRS. Also would be interested to hear anyone's opinions, particularly if you have been in a similar position? Many thanks in advance! Boots.
  12. Good point well made, although any slight incentive could be enough to sway me...
  13. Sorry make that £200 for stage 1, £350 for custom and £35 for before and after dyno's. Quite a saving..!
  14. I emailed one R-Tech asking about what sort of figures they would be happy remapping to and they said around 170bhp and 270lb/ft because they could remap up to 320lb/ft+ however such torque in such a small car would be "un-insurable" in the wet... No mention was given to clutch and other parts being limited, more emphasis was made of insurance considerations lol. They are cheap though at 250 for before and after dyno's as well as remapping. How local were you Gilesharmer?
  15. Thanks for all the answers guys. Very helpful! What is the current price for just a stage 1 remap? Is there any group buys going that anyone knows of? Also, presumably you have to book an appointment for the remap, is their much of a waiting list?
  16. There are a couple of videos on youtube of a standard vrs accelerating hard in 2nd and 3rd, perhaps worth a look so you can compare, perhaps the speed of the rev needle or any drop off at higher revs...
  17. Great stuff, hope you enjoy the car!!
  18. Thanks for the reply mate! I really would like a remap because as you say I imagine it would transform the car, I've had the car for a year now and its standard so think it would be money well spent! I appreciate what your saying about the intake mod's, £100 or so does seem quite a lot of money though for what is essentially a plastic pipe haha! Did you have any concerns about clutches before having yours remapped? If so did Will satisfy these? I see you had yours done on 90,000 miles, guess I shouldn't worry so much on 29,000 miles lol. My car is due a service actually this month so would people reccomend having that done before remapping or does it not matter? Also, how much diesel do you need for the rollers? Thanks alot Boots. x
  19. Nice sig. picture picture of St. Andrews there! Are you running a standard clutch also? Who did the remapping?
  20. Goldie Jon, what did you think of the whole P-Torque experience, would you recommend them? I also notice you have a pd160 and performance panel filter, did you have these done at the same time? Any performance benefit to them only if it just to reduce smoking i'm not too worried about that...
  21. Back on topic, anyone have any opinions?
  22. I'd imagine you'd fancy something safe again though, you started this thread thanking your fabia for protecting you and if you replace it with a rust bucket then should the worst happen again you may not be so lucky...
  23. Interestingly on this subject I emailed one remapping company asking about what sort of figures they would be happy remapping to and they said around 170bhp and 270lb/ft because they could remap up to 320lb/ft+ however such torque in such a small car would be "un-insurable" in the wet... No mention was given to clutch and other parts being limited, more emphasis was made of insurance considerations lol, thought it somewhat strange...
