Hi
How do all you vRS owners keep you standard alloys clean. I use alloy wheel cleaner foam which does remove some brake dust but there is alot of ground in black mess in the corners of the wheels, doesn't easily come off with a brush. Any tips?
Also why do the rear wheels always have more brake dust on them than the front, never seen this on another car:(

I find that it only goes onto
Yeah me too generally but our drive is on a steep slope so this makes it drip further forward.
They don't stand up to loud volumes though - thisAh this could be the problem then... Too much Genesis and Pink Floyd at loud volumes (doesn't mention this to the dealer;) )

Go to Boots and buy some houshold ammonia solution. Make some up in a bowl of warm water and get the cloth slighty damp, not too wet and give the seats/door covering/carpets a gentle rub over. Leave doors open for a while while it dries off, we didn't find it left water marks and looked very clean. Its good on leather too we used to use it on our Jag XJ8 which had vary pale leather seats which got dirty easily.
Also Simoniz Dri-cleen fabric cleaner is good for mats/carpet.

FabiaTDI : Sounds like a similar problem, I'm going to have a poke around this weekend and if it continues my dad will take it to the dealer next week.
Do all you RS/ Octavia Hatchback owners find when its been raining loads of water runs into the boot when you open the hatch:eek: Often the speakers get wet...this can't be good:confused:

Has anyone experienced a rattly speaker in the rear of their Octavia? Its a weird rattling noise that started on saturday, goes off when the stereo is turned off and is not so bad with the bass turned down to -2, but then the CD sounds crap.
Had a look and nothing seems loose, my dad is getting annoyed with it so will take it into the dealer, just wondering if anyone else has had this.
By the way is the RS stero system any better than the standard?

Big thumbs up to Trinity Motors Smethwick nr Birmingham. Thats where my dads RS came from. Company car however and his company have bought 6 Felica vans, 2 RS and 2 Fabia's from there so no wonder. They get all the servicing too. The servicing manager is a good bloke:cheers:

Thanks for the tips guys. I shall certainly go and get some turtle was brake dust barrier as I've not come across this before.
Our rims are the older 16" size. TBH they are the worst alloys I've come across in terms of the quality of the coating. The rears have quite a lot of ground in dust in the corners, despite my best efforts. Just needs a really good cleaning, like an hour per rim  . Never had this problem on my micra or on any of the other cars my dad has had. I think the newer 17" RS rims have a better coating.
