  1. Thanks, yeah I guess I should just have both done at the same time then. Well, as I have no practial experience with car repairs as such, and have no space to get it on a lift here in Copenhagen, it will be a job for Mekonomen in Malmö. Should be approx half the price of my local garage in Copenhagen charges :-)
  2. Well the direct translation from Danish is a dog bone, so in lack of better words :-) Anyhow, what's on the picture is what I need to change, should I do both while it's at the garage? The left side looks fine the inspector said.
  3. Sorry mates, I have no idea what it's called in English :-) I'm talking about this: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/9443/stabilisatorstag6lq.jpg The Danish MOT inspector said that I should change the right one soon. As far as I can read, the right one generally wears out faster than the left one. Should I change them both at the same time, or rather save some money?
  4. The emergency services here in Denmark just got a new toy: http://www.rn.dk/NR/rdonlyres/8017E8C5-FEF8-46D3-85FC-CCB04FFE62F3/0/Ambulance.jpg It will primarily be used to move ICU patients between hospitals, the text says.
  5. Ok, now I got confused again... (non-native English speaker) Looking at this photo: http://www.powerflex.co.uk/i/product_images/2-fabia%2002-05.pdf It is item 2 which is prone to fail, right? Which people then often replace with Powerflex or Seat Ibiza Cupra bushes? Which of the above is it that you and others are refering to as "console bushes"?
  6. How long have they gone and how old is the car? Sounds like mine - and they are in serious need of replacing :-)
  7. Ah, yeah I think you're right. My once in a year small problems also came back - the window switches dying and the radio not turning off when turning the engine off and withdrawing the key. Turning the engine on and off again, and everything works. Also when 2-3 times a year are going to Germany (horrible engine noise for 4h :-), the yellow engine light usually switches on around when I hit the Danish/German border after 320km (200mi) and then at some later point turns off again. Car runs fine. Got it diagnosed the 2nd time as a minor electrical problem, and was told that I could drive back with it with no problems.
  8. Hi, yesterday, when starting my 2001 mpi, the engine has "coughed" a bit after the first few 100 meters, it shows as irregular pull for some seconds, then drives normally. The yellow engine light was blinking during the time, then came on. At a red light, I turned the engine off, started again, and drove on normally, with the engine light off. Coming back from work there was no problems. Today had the same experience. After the first 1-2 kilometers no problems. The engine light stayed on though, even after turning the engine off and on again. Any ideas as to what this could be? The weather has been exceptionally moist and foggy the last days, after the snow started melting, it also shows as the starter taking a few more seconds to start the engine. I'll take it to the garage on Monday. Think I'll cycle to work tomorrow :-)
  9. Thanks for the reply's everyone - Cepheuz - are those lamps drawing 75w road legal? I don't think they are here in Denmark. I think I'll go for the Philips ones as they are easy to obtain here. But I can see a small confusion about f "X-xtreme Power" which should give 80% more light, and then some new "X-treme Vision" which should give 100% more light. On Philips' Danish and US site, only X-treme Power are available, while X-treme Vision are available in the UK. site. ChrispyVRS - do you have the X-treme Vision fitted on your car? And yeah, they lamps are well-adjusted - I just tend to drive fast :-)
  10. So, I'm looking into changing my stock H7 bulbs to something more powerful. I do a lot of night driving, and my greatest annoyance is the short distance my driving light lights up when I'm on a poorly lit motorway with incoming traffic, so I can't use the long beams. Secondly, I'd like some more brightness (whiter). Of what I could read around on the net, the Osram Night Breaker plus are whiter, and will light up up to 35m more than stock bulbs, but also that results vary, depending on the car. So that's why I'd like to ask some Fabia mk1-owners - which one is better? :-)
  11. Woot 68 BHP FTW :-) Well, I like my little furby. With things being priced here in Denmark as they are (ie "#¤3@£$@£ expensive), my 2001 MPI is a great starters car in which I can ramp up some insurance experience. When I'm alone in the car, as I am most of the time, there is no problem with following other traffic, not even on the expressway. Granted, I don't overtake as I otherwise would on one-lane roads, as I miss the extra power to get out of the situation if something goes wrong, but other than that, no problem. With 2 passengers, I can feel that it accelerates slower, and I let it use more of the gears before changing. With 3 passengers and luggage it becomes quite sluggish.
  12. Nah, tyres are fine. Don't think it's shock absorber related either. How would the car react if it was failing console bushes?
  13. Hi, from the front of the car, sometimes I can both hear and feel a fast rhythmic "klonk" sound. The feeling is as if I'm driving over something small - maybe like rail road tracks. The speed of it is around 5 times a second. I believe it happens more often than when I'm not accelerating or having my foot on the gas. It's a 2001 MPI. Any ideas?
  14. Thanks guys. That made it a lot clearer. So are the console bushex the front wishbone rear bushes, or can it be both the front or rear bushings?
