  1. Lovely car and stunning detail. I highly rate Jon at Advance Detail - met him a few times at Waxstock; nice guy.
  2. Great little tool this - have similar, not the same - which was good for the rear window on the R36 and along the bottom of the windscreen too. Be sure and pick up a few packs of the spare pads at time of purchase - as they can be hard to track down later.... or so i found.
  3. i think i did mention Danny - you would find the Meg's a bit dusty; that's consistent feedback i have heard. Koch Chemie H8 or newer H9 are great - with an oily tinge to help them maintain a good working time. I normally follow this up with M3 or similar to finish/antihologram. That said - also a big fan of the Angelwax compounds too. Plenty to choose from; perhaps see if any enthusiasts near you can share some products to test; otherwise it can get expensive.
  4. Wow - sounds like quite a full on and long day with the polishing. Always best to break it down into smaller sessions if possible. Fatigue in the user can lead to mistakes or missed areas..... or so experience tells me. That said - i hope you got the results you were hoping for - it will look superb when complete for sure!!!
  5. I think its claimed 6 months; longer if layered (2 coats) and then well maintained. I dont think i'll be able to validate that timescale; but for gloss levels and ease of use alone - i'd recommend it, especially at eBay clearance prices.
  6. Yeah - i thoroughly enjoyed getting back into it Danny.... no two ways about it - very therapeutic at times getting in the zone. Took some thinking to get the process in my head - as i've just been doing snowfoam and rinse for a couple months. I had some of those new chems sat in the garage for a while; and i owed the company some feedback too. Really refreshing to see that detailing is still moving forward with new companies and new potions to tackle the tough jobs. Car wise - we have just finished a 3 year deal with our VW Golf R 310ps. A lovely car, and fast but not as well built as the old Passat .:R36 The Audi RS7 was a good move - build quality feels great, performance is awesome and both the missus and myself are glad we changed.
  7. OK - as many will know, i've been on here from the days of my first Skoda Octavia vRS....circa 2008. A big detailing fan and once an OCD detailer..... but family life has been busy of late. Just getting back to it.... We treated ourselves to a new car for Christmas 2020.... so far focused on enjoying the drive, not actually washed since collection! Process (& products) in todays routine… my first wash of this car in my ownership:- Pressure wash to soak & loosen surface dirt; wheel arches flushed Snow foam treatment using Waxplanet Eight Below, 10 minute dwell then rinse Alloy clean with dedicated wheel bucke, EZ brushes and CYR wheel wash pad Chems used on wheels are Garage Therapy (GT) Wheel Shampoo, then GT Iron Oxide treatment to follow. 2nd Snowfoam layer using GT Decon Shampoo via the snowfoam lance to aid removal of old protection 2 bucket method wash with Simplewax Sudz shampoo and CYR wash pad Rinse & then Dry with Detail Freaks Absorber towel. De-tar with Autobrite Just the Tonic Decon/Fallout with GT Iron Oxide. Re-wash treated panels, rinse and dry. Some localised polishing tests with my Flex DA (Angelwax compounds used); removing some minor defects – but car still needs full polish. Car waxed with EZ Car Care Graphene Wax Protective glass wipedown with GT Quick detailer Alloy Wheel wipedown with Sonax BSD Door shuts wipedown with Sonax BSD Tyre conditioner applied using GT Tyre Serum. Next time out:- Continue polishing duties on more intricate areas – front and back bumpers + sills Interior duties…. Waiting on new interior mats on order from AutoStyle UK. …or maybe I won’t have time – will end up being a quick wash! My neighbours are used to it by now…. approx 4 hours worth spent on this beauty. Sunny Sundays are generally detailing days - really enjoyed it! Cheers, Ste.
  8. I grabbed a cheap sample of the EZ Graphene Wax from their eBay outlet a couple of weeks back. Only a 50ml tub; but got it at half the web price. Tried it out on Sunday - not bad at all i must say. Easy to use and great gloss, extremely slick finish too. Unsure on durability claims though.
  9. Great idea Danny - i like it!!! After a busy couple of years with one thing or another - i fell out of love with detailing. This weekend i got back into it..... with a new car purchased at Xmas and some new product samples given to me for test. So - i'll try do a proper post later when i get time.
  10. They are a decent range of budget products - some people like, some dislike. Personally - i like the Sleek interior dressing, their GTR Glue and Tar is also good. I also still use their Fallout remover and used the Slick tyre dressing but this is now EOL. I bought a couple of the "kits" early days and found the products i like; then grabbed 5L tubs when on sale. Hope this helps.
  11. Bilt Hamber Auto foam is a great product and great price; plus their APC Surfex HD - you won't go far wrong pal! As a winter backup for SWMBO's car - i have some KKD Blizzard Extreme for a little extra bite. So KKD Blizzard and Blizzard Extreme are both worth consideration - depends where you shop.
  12. We skipped the Arrive n Shine this year buddy..... opted for the back car park in the van. Another great show and some good bargains purchased. Managed to blag a good few freebies through the day as well. Plus always nice to meet up with folks at least once a year! See you there next year
  13. Nice little write-up Andy. I would mention/recommend a couple of things you could add... You can add a final stage polish with one of the foam cones (fitted on a drill) Does help improve the final finish and add finishes down nicely with a less coarse polish, say megs NXT Metal. Then - to finish - you can add protection to help maintain the finish produced. I used to use FK1000P wax, on newer cars i tend to use the ceramic left over from wheels say Gtechniq C5.
  14. I used KAVD to coat new car last year as well. Very good at working to a budget. If you have a "no expense spared" budget - i can direct you to a couple of guys who quited and scared me with the price!!! LOL
  15. I can highly recommend Andrew at Atom Detailing. Met the guy a few times at Waxstock and other shows. https://www.facebook.com/atomdetailing/
  16. Hiya mate - yep.... really enjoyed the show! How about you? After the long queues to get in - we went to speak with Jay and his missus at Bouncers.....first stop! 10L later.... free sprayers to decant as you say and a freebie wax.... as we helped with some social media reviews. That was my only purchase of the day actually....and at that price..... absolutely delighted!!! We went round and spoke with some other vendors and came away with a lot of free samples. Main one of interest was EZ new ceramics range - 3year lifetime. Darren offered us free samples for paint and alloys. Also got some free Infinity Wax QDX and air freshener samples from Ollie, Plus Dave at Clean Your Car samples some Menzerna Shampoo and Alchemy QD. All in all - another great event.
  17. Very nice little setup mate.... looking good. Only comment would be planning for winter and watching pressure washer and chems with frost etc.
  18. Yeah - one of my first stops too mate - wondering what the price will be like given 500ml was £12.50!!!! Its like 2or 3 years ago Rupes did a launch deal on the iBrid at Waxstock.... the queue was mental and only 20 units for sale! We always enjoy it though
  19. The EZ Detail Wheel brush or Speedmaster Daytona - both similar and very good. Supliment this with a set of Wheel Woolie soft brushes and a cheap wash mitt. Shown Below... all of which allow me to tackle almost any wheel....
  20. Current floorplan link for Waxstock 2019 below.... see you Sunday! Also - if i might be so bold - a product recommendation to seek out... Bouncers Done & Dusted Si Edition - recently sampled this and VERY impressed. Imagine Sonax BSD style beading.... but a MUCH slicker feel to the paintwork.
  21. Awesome - i'm sure Karl & i will stop by and say Hello if we see you at the car!
  22. Great news - thanks for sharing, i did see this on Facebook. Just trying to confirm if its the original forumulation or new version.... I did get info that one of the main chemicals in the old version was now too pricey for the market.
  23. Anyone into car detailing - well worth a visit.... Waxstock at Ricoh Arena Coventry. Show n Shine event, product demonstrations, some good discounts and like minded people for the most part. https://www.waxstock.com/ I have been the last 3 years and really enjoyed it - plus stock up on some of my favourite products. Hopefully see you there
  24. Welcome aboard - the best advice it to read through the forum and others.... Avoid the temptation to use the car wash and try get the basics in hand. Pressure washer, snowfoam, 2 Bucket method and decent wash mitt. Good luck....
  25. I have to agree - my 18-plate VW has the softest VAG paint i've experienced. Nothing like the rock hard finish on the old .:R36 Passat - thats for sure. Regardless - the Superb is looking awesome.... top job & a fantastic colour
