  1. Hi, they're not supposed to work with the remote. They work when you use the key to unlock/lock the door and hold it in that position... i.e hold it in the unlock position to open and hold it in the lock position to close. Regarding them working with the ignition, that's part of the "S-contact" a convenience feature which allows the windows to work for around 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned off provided a door has not been opened (I believe the driver's door).

If yours works even with the driver's door open, then your microswitch may be faulty resulting in there being no recognition of the door opening.

    Hope that helps

  2. Currently operating on mates rates, plus some of my own elbow grease. The donor vehicle is a 1998 vw polo. Both vehicles have the same engine (AEH), and the mounting points appear to be the same. Just need some more info as to the swap. From my first research, everything should be plug and play, and then on the electronics side, there may be a few wires to swap and finally a few bits to change on the ecu coding.

  3. I have a 1986 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 3 cyl. Only have it as it was gifted from my godfather. Mom has a 2004 Mk1 Octavia ambiente estate 1.6. Interesting thing is that they both use the same amount of fuel. Lovely car, the Octavia. My car has "nothing to go wrong" yet almost everything has needed changing. The engine's now being changed due to piston #3 having holes in it. It is a fairly ok car though

  4. Be thankful you are not in Barbados. Skoda vehicles don't suffer fools under the hood, but unfortunately, the only dealer (who by the way doesn't import them any more) has many fools working there. Thankfully there are a few competent independents that you can go to. There are a few persons in the know at the dealership, but its difficult to get them to look at it

  5. Same engine on my mothers octy. Normally the coolant temp problems cause a problem when starting the car, but in some instances (like mine) it also caused the car to accelerate without any input from the driver. The problem was that the faulty coolant temp sensor was causing the car to over-fuel, and that resulted in acceleration when the car was in drive.

  6. A similar situation happened to me a few years ago while i was fueling up the car in preparation for a storm. That was a few years ago. I would suggest you investigate all the modules in the doors, as well as the convenience unit behind the dash board. For me, that was the beginning of central locking and window problems which ultimately resulted in the front door control units having to be replaced.
