I find it does list Super for me at Tesco
Loving that new 99 RON super in the new beastie, lol

The panel's not hard to come by, it's just a DIN-sized gauge panel held in on either side with strong double-sided tape. Don't see any reason it wouldn't fit with the standard stereo.
It's similar to this item:

Not sure the "low insurance" bit really counts anymore.
It's too popular now and mods make the insurance stupid.
Mine would cost me around
-
And you were worried about haveing 3 warning lights on
Chimaera very nice car.
I know, I know
I blame Le Mans, soooooo many nice cars... been thinking about swapping for a little while as my Skoda is getting so little use (less than 50 miles a week) and I really don't need an economical, or even reliable, car for that sort of miles - just want one that's purely for fun.
Plus, I've always wanted a big V8, and try as I might to embrace front drive I miss power oversteer
It's not quite as mad as it sounds, the car in question is a 53k mile car with full TVR history, and a very comprehensive 3 year warranty...
-
Hurrah, warning lights have been diagnosed to a faulty rear ABS sensor, being repaired on Saturday under warranty...
...just in time to sell it. I've gone and done something extremely foolish - put a deposit down on a TVR Chimaera
As soon as the private plate is transferred over, the vRS will be up for grabs. Will post up a notice in the For Sale section nearer the time if anyone is interested
-
Well it's easy enough to find out if the ABS is working
I'm pretty sure ABS and power steering are still working fine
Won't get a chance to take it into the stealer until a week on Saturday though, I think. Will just have to leave it on the driveway until then :(

Hi JUT
I'm afraid I have no idea about your problem' date=' but I did pass you on the French Motorway between Rouen and Calais! I saw your numberplate and all the briskoda stickers and wanted to wave but now I drive a Fiesta ST150 you probably wouldnt have waved back
Hope you had a good time, it was one of the best weekends of my life [/quote']
Bet I was looking rather slammed with 4 fat lads and that roofbox!
Was a cracking weekend, already planning next year's trip! Bigger and better beermountains (or possibly beeramids) must be built to outdo this year's creation

ABS and ASR both appear to be working though - very weird
Will have to consult the stealer...

Need some help peeps
Coming back from Le Mans I noticed a couple of lights on the dash, ABS and ASR are now permanently lit. I did a forum search and noted someone's advice that it may be a loose cable in the battery box lid, I've taken all of these off, cleaned them up and bolted them on tightly, didn't fix the problem and now I have three warning bongs when I turn the ignition on too! :(
Any suggestions what could be causing this? I can't feel anything different about the way the car drives and everything seems to still be working?
-
PS who was it in the black Octy vRS who beeped me on the way down there? I saw the car at the services this side of the channel and saw the Briskoda sticker above the front number plate so I know it's one of the guys on here - looks tasty btw

There is a metal lever inside the headlight housing, at the sides (and running through) the main reflector, just move it too it's other position and hey presto - no blinding the french!
Do you need any tools to do this or is it a 5 min job I could do once I'm in the chunnel?
-
Bit last-minute I know, but off to Le Mans tomorrow night and just been told that beam benders don't work with xenons and you have to adjust the lamps themselves!
Is this a VAG-COM job or is there a switch or something?
-
How come you need a new MAF on an 05 car and why isn't it being replaced under warranty?
Most likely damaged by oil from the green filter, or just a faulty unit.
Didn't bother trying to claim on warranty - they'd take one look at my car and blame it on the mods. It's not like this was the only mod I've done, so I couldn't slap the standard filter back in and play ignorant.
As a side note, I got the new one and fitted it yesterday, drove from London to Leicester and back today, all unresponsiveness is gone, smoke is reduced and economy is improved. The inside of the airbox on the MAF side, had a lot of oil spatter on it. So in a nutshell, pretty much looks like it was shagged. Just as well I got it sorted before driving to Le Mans!!!
EDIT: Plus, I don't like leaving my car in at the dealer for warranty work after they botched it repeatedly (120 mile round trip x 4 for the same faults) then left it outside overnight to be broken into and have all the stereo I'd fitted stolen... for the sake of £55 and a half hour of getting my hands dirty, rather fix it myself. If I didn't have the Seat Sport strut brace, it would be a 10 minute job.

Cheaper option is to have the spare which is a full size Conti put on your Alloy then buy something for the spare.
The spare will never be on the road for more than a few miles as it's a steel and 'limited' in speed. I had a Khumo KU31 put on mine a few weeks a go by Protyre for under
-
www.tyretraders.com can be cheap too

Got the new MAF now, but before it goes on, I've read in a few places that you need to do an "ECU reset" when fitting a new MAF - is this true, and if so, how can it be done (without VAG-COM)
Cheers

The round tailpipe does look particularly good on the red Fabia vRS. I think I prefer the oval tho as it follows the shape of the bumper a bit better.
We'll see how mine looks on friday' date=' I will post pics and soundclips for you all.[/quote']
The biggest sound difference on mine isn't the exhaust note - it's the sound of the turbo spooling up. It does sound a bit louder at the tail end, but the most obvious difference is the noise it makes on boost
-
If I had to choose on looks alone I'd say remove them - I don't think they look good painted. But personally, I have no intention of doing either.
My car has added black bits (from and rear mudflaps, Seat splitter, Milotec grille) and to try to colour code all of this lot silver, would not only cost a fortune, but look pony too. I don't have a problem with the black either, I think it contrasts well with silver, and more importantly, it stops your doors from getting dented. Smooth lines are all well and good, but they still look rubbish when your doors are covered in parking dents.

I've got Blueflame, and xenons, it was a bitch to fit but it's on and it doesn't cause any problems now.
-
Not as standard, but can be added at extra cost. Like mine
And mine, although I got Powerflow to swap the tailpipes over when they fitted the system
-
will either an exhaust or intercooler void any of the warranty ?
Technically, any mod voids the warranty. Even a change of tyres from OEM spec, or putting a diesel additive in the fuel tank.
-
I think it's more true for older engines and older cars - if you've got a car with early fuel injection or running on carbs, the original ignition system can be pretty poor and can benefit from uprated aftermarket leads, but usually in conjuction with lumenition igntion or an Aldon Ignitor and uprated dizzy coil. Not really relevant on a lot of new cars.
-
There are a few people interested in the Blueflame exhaust at the moment' date=' including me, so maybe a group buy could be sorted if there are enough people...
Go for the exhaust [/quote']
Have you tried emailing blueflame and asking for an exhaust at the old GB price? That's what I did, and got it
DSG or not?

I have regular use of an A6 4.2 with DSG - the gearbox is great in terms of smoothness and speed of changes once you're accelerating (and with 300bhp and 4wd it accelerates rather well ) BUT the kickdown is appalling - takes the best part of a second to respond - very dangerous IMO if you put your foot down to get out of the way of something and it doesn't respond... maybe it's just this car though, I've heard other people with DSG say they don't have this problem. On the audi you have to double tap the accelerator to get around this, you can't just floor it and expect it to respond.
