Actually applied rainx for the first time this weekend and been quite inmpressed. If nothing else, it should help cut down the amount of dead insect life glued to the screen.
Has anyone used the rainx screenwash additive? It claims to help preserve the rainx coat on your windows with regular use.
Is it any good, and do you use it as well as or instead of your usual screenwash?

Mine went back to the dealers, which solved it for a couple of months. It's back now though, and another suggestion on here was to oil the four locating lugs on the radiator. A search for "Squeak" in the Octavia forum should reveal the exact advice.....

Welcome.
Where abouts in the 'shire are you? There's some lovely roads out there to go and get to know you new P+J

If you want reliability and build quality, you'd buy a Honda.
If you want a loud, aggressive adrenalin pumping car, buy a TVR. But when budgeting, allow for more than the purchase price!
Apparently build quality and reliability have both improved massivley since the russian bloke took over. You even get a 3 year warranty on new cars now.
-
Took mine back to the dealers to get this sorted about 3 months after picking it up. They blamed it on the radiator mounting rubbers and changed them under warranty. Trouble is, three months on it's bac again
One of the threads on here suggested oiling the radiator locating lugs (that might not be the exact technical term BTW) so I'm going to try that this time. Although, taking it back to the dealers would involve another blast down the Mansfield bypass :drive:

You'll find you can get the dealers down to near enough the Motorpoint price. The price I got mine for from the dealers worked out a few quid cheaper than the Motorpoint price, + extra years warranty, + the price of a full set of mats (which you don't get with the imports).
Take a test drive and have a chat with the salesman

Managed to get hold of a copy of the vRS episode, and I've extracted the section with it against the Mini
Trouble is, it's 16.5Mb still. Anyone got any web space they could stick it on?
-
Motorpoint's Octy vRS are usually Irish spec cars ..........but it's still a hell of a lot of a car for that price ..............
Out of curiosity, what's the difference in spec from the UK model? I almost bought mine from motorpoint, but the dealer was only a couple of hundred above their price (I'd have paid more than the difference for the mats in the end!!)

What did you use to get the program in 30 mins? Azureaus worked fine but it slowed my PC down a lot, and it is a good speck with a 3.2 xp chip
It's the speed of your network connection which dictates how quickly it'll download, not the speed of your CPU.
I'd not complain if I could download 149Gb in 3.5 hours though!!

There was a link to a bittorrent with the whole of the last series of Top Gear posted somewhere (can't remember f it was on here or not).
I've got it bookmarked at home if anyone wants it.
4+ Gb though, so not for those on dial-up

Right, got a litre of oil. Will experiment later and let you know.

Hi,
Does anyone know what volume of oil is required to top the engine up from the bottom of the dipstick to the top?
This is on a 2004 Octavia vRS if it makes any difference.
Thanks,
J

AMD - Nice vid, what's the band/track you've used?
The 'ring on GT4 does look better than in PGR2, and I didn't think that would be possible. And the cars look absolutely stunning.
So when's it out on the XBox then??
-
Does anyone else get excessive wind noise in their Octy vRS? At anything above 50mph is becomes loud enough to need to raise my voice slightly to talk to passengers.
The noise definitely comes from the windscreen area and isn't the problem I've already read aboutwith the speakers being un-covered at the back.
It looks like the windscreen has been replaced at some point (sucker pad marks on the windscreen when I picked it up) so might it be possible that the windscreen glass isn't sealed properly? It doesn't appear to leak though.
Any help appreciated.
Ta,
J

Anyone got any suggestions for connecting the Ipod to the Synphony Head unit ??
Few Options:
- Cassette adaptor
- Transpod or iTrip FM Transmitter (although I think these are illegal in the UK? Mine still seems to do an OK job' date=' although finding empty channels can be a pain sometime)
- Denison ICE:LINK which is supposed to give the best sound, although is also the most expensive and you lose the CD changer (which shouldn't really be an issue...)
-
I don't suppose you're also a BigH on the SnowboardUK forums are you?

The AA have been superb both times I've needed to call them (both pre Skoda )
-
Did anyone else see this?
They had on a fantastic looking 3D GPS unit which actually displays what your view should look like as you're driving along (buildings, landmarks etc..) It was incredibly detailed, even down to the billboard positions being correct!
It will also show all other cars fitted with the same GPS unit on the screen, so you can jump ahead and check out what the traffic's like and spot any jams.
Just a shame it's only available in Tokyo at the moment, and I'm guessing it'll take a while for the maps to be done for the rest of the world :(

I ended up getting the K 289,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean from your description. Are you importing the songs from the CD into iTunes (Ripping) or burning your MP3's back onto CD?
If you're importing the CD, there's an option join tracks together to remove the gap inbetween (typically for DJ mix CD's).
From the iTunes Help:
"If you want to remove the gap of silence that normally occurs between songs, select two or more adjacent songs and choose Advanced > Join CD Tracks.
iTunes imports any joined songs as one track. To change back to importing the songs separately, select the joined songs and choose Advanced > Unjoin CD Tracks."

Has anyone got the Denison ICE:LINK set up? Was just wondering how well it worked, and what the sound quality was like.

Anyone know slack hill on the way to Matlock [Derbyshire] ?

Is that the road from the A6 up to Wirksworth? Quite a hill if it is. My Octy handles it a lot better than my old fiesta used to.
The road out the back of Wirksworth down to Duffield is a fantastic drive as well :rally:
