This erratic error continues, with no real constant. I have noticed that every time it appears, the Adaptive Criuse Control is immediately disabled for the rest of the driving session. Cleaning the radar cover and re-starting usually solves it... for a time. I know tht the radar cover IS removable, and it might be an idea to remove it to try to clean the unit itself, but am wary of breaking it. Does anyone know how to detach it safely? (6 is the radar cover).

I just tired a download and found that at the moment it's only open to "visitors from the USA" (no luck for the UK). Anypne know a site which accepts UK addresses? -
Front Assist Is Impaired - Easy Fix
HenPen replied to PoloPaul's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > )
Thanks for opening this topic, Paul. I have been having this problem starting this week. The print manual is, as you say, designed for people with better eyesight than mine and the online manual is... err... not far off useless. This forum has proved itself much better for tracking down solutions to problems than anything that a Skoda manuad (or the dealer, for that matter) has been able to do. -
Just back from having the car serviced at the dealer. The answer I got: it is "a known software problem". They updated the software to the very latest version and told me to ignore the warning unless it comes up and stays there (if it comes back). They added that the fault memory didn't show that there had ever BEEN been a problem. I suspect that the issue is down to the VW group's notorious difficulty with software; the Skoda Essentials app frequently has major problems, I've found, and its cousin/replacement, "MySkoda" has a few glitches too.

I have just started having this problem, with the warning popping up (and disappearing) whilst I am driving and nothing appearing to be wrong. It's a 2023 DSG Octavia diesel hatch and I have gone 14,000 miles in it from new. The error never seems to affect performance and I haven't had any starting problems. The "Error: drive system" warning has popped up about a dozen times now, stays on screen for less than 3 seconds (sometimes just flashes on quickly) and then disappears. The "Error: Auto Hold" has just started appearing today (twice). Thankfully, I have had a service booked for this week anyway. I'll report back what the dealer says.

Last February I upgraded to a new 2023 2 litre diesel Octavia from an 2014 Octavia diesel. This week the oil needed topping up. I opened a bottle of Castrol Edge 5W-30 (VW 507) which I had left over and 1/2 litre in. Then I happened to look up the details of the newer VW 509 oil specification. Apparently using any of the previous oil spec "will cause permanent and irreversible damage to the engine". So I have had to have the oil drained and replaced with the higher spec. I have been kicking myself: ALWAYS READ THE MANUAL, STUPID!!!

My mk IV Octavia Columbus infortaiment system started re-booting several times an hour. I tried a system re-set by holding down the power button for 10 seconds and letting it re-load. That SEEMS to have solved the problem.

Adblue miles remaining inconsistent
HenPen replied to johnrowley's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > )
How do you get the Essentials app to display miles left of AdBlue? My 2023 Octavia just says "OK" in the app. (And the Skoda Connect on my desktop computer says nothing about AdBlue.) -

My Skoda app missing doors and lights

Out of curiosity I decided to try the Ventilation function of the app. I got the response, "Unable To Connect To Vehicle. Please Try Again Later."- 13 replies

The MySkoda Essentials app for iPhone lost pretty much all functionality: like the ability to see if the doors/windows are open and/or locked, the Flash & Honk, how much mileage is left, etc. All that it left is the screen that offers to run the Ventilation for 10 minutes. And then when I tried that, just out of curiosity, I got the response "Unable to Connect To Vehicle. Please Try Again Later". It has been this way since the update. For a pay-for app, this is not really the way things should be.

My Skoda app missing doors and lights
HenPen replied to thommo41's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > )
The apps are only free for the first year. After that the Care Connect services are £36.00 and the Infotainment Online services (navigation) are £44.00. That is, I think, VERY steep for services which are unavailable for much of the time.- 13 replies

My Skoda app missing doors and lights
HenPen replied to thommo41's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > )
Like the others, I have found that this app for iPhone has lost pretty much all functionality for my Octavia TDI (unless I want to operate the ventilation). No seeing if the doors/windows are open (let alone locking/closing), no flash & honk, no AdBlu indicator, no mileage remaining, etc. Skoda sent back a vague reassurance when I contacted them (they are "working on it") and suggested I try calling the app helpline (+44 844 372 8731, for anyone who wants to waste a chunk of their life). The lass I spoke with when I called that number seemed unaware of any problems and effectively patronised me ("are you sure you have installed the app correctly?"). The "reassurance" given seemed to be "of course we will have it back up and working correctly very soon, you silly man, why on earth have you bothered me?" For an app that is pay-for after the first year (with a renewal that costs £36.00 a year) this is ridiculous. The SkodaConnect works on my desktop computer but the MySkoda Essentials app remains a 213Mb waste of space on my iPhone, and recent Reviews on the App Store show that only a few Enyaq users are currently using it trouble-free- 13 replies

Over the past few days features have been disappearing from my MyEssentials app; for instance, the check as to whether the doors are locked and the windows shut and windows open are gone. Is this a problems others have had? It was a new car in February so I SHOULD have the services available for a year. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it makes no difference.
