  1. Original accessory partnumber - DMA410002.

    f5a2f88ee537t.jpg

    Price approx. $40

We can do it other way:

    frame 6Y0 867 489 - $10

    net 6Y0 867 689 - $15

21 self-tapping screw (check with frame which size you need)

fix the net by hooks on backside of the frame and pull the rubber band (included with the net) through the holes as shown on photo...

and fix the frame with screws. you may want to use 3 mm drill bit prior screws

Now you got one more place to crowd with unneded stuff!

And what's most important, the frame comes with the bag hook.

  2. Pretty easy, done this during 30 minutes in night :)

The gasket is about 2 pounds (converting from Russian Rubles ) :D

And its almost impossible to overtighten the nuts because the spacers underneath them are rubber

The main thing is to ensure there is no oil on the surfaces, otherwise it will start leak again in that places.

  3. its pretty easy to check the droplinks, just turn wheels right/left and rock the link with your hand; if you feel ANY looseness the link is surely dead

usually the lower joint becomes dead first while the upper is OK

it takes 20-30 minutes to replace both and you need only 16 mm wrench and some torx 25 or 30 (dont remember)

torn bushes usually produce very annoying squeak

  4. I think there is a fault with the coolant sensor and therefore need to replace it (temperature warning light comes on in the morning even though there is adequate coolant). As I understand it, it is integrated into the coolant expansion tank and it is easier to replace the tank and sensor in one go. My questions are:

    1. The code I have been given is 6q0121407a. Is this correct and does this code include the sensor?

    Yes.

    Yes.

    2. Do any other VAG cars use this part? (The only dealer I have got within reasonable distance is a SEAT dealer)

    Cheers

    VW Polo

  5. There are 2 types of power steering pump, one for TRW steering box and the other one for KOYO brand.

    TRW numbers are:

    6Q0423156Q (vin last digits < 6Y-3-830 644)

    6Q0423155AB (vin between 6Y-3-830 645 and 6Y-4-929 644)

    6Q0423155AE (vin after 6Y-4-929 645)

    KOYO numbers are

    6Q0423156R (vin < 6Y-4-929 644)

    6Q0423156AA or 6Q0423155AD (vin after 6Y-4-929 645)

You may distinguish between TRW and KOYO by looking at the angle turn sensor, TRW box has a flat sensor and KOYO has a round one.

But I guess the best way to find the part number is to get under the car, unmount the engine shield and to look at the pump

    Good luck

  6. I'm a bit scared at having to remove the seats, especially if the screws are "Loctited" - that usually means using an impact driver to do the initial loosening.

    Done by hand, dont worry

I'll do it if I have to, but I am wondering if there is a way of fitting the boxes, without removing the seats ? - I'm thinking along the lines of removing the panel at the front of the seat, inserting the box, pushing seat fully foward and then inserting and tightening the box locating screws ?

    Nick

Absolutely impossible, you wont be able to secure the front screw because it's hidden between the body of the box and its front panel.

Dont worry, i've done it in 20 minutes

  7. I see that this is your first post, Welcome you to Briskoda !

    Thanks alot! :)

Your English is very good, are you by chance a British ex-patriot ?

    Nope, Im native Russian

Dealer's kit supplied the Torx self-tapping screws. I'll have to borrow/buy a 10mm torx socket head to do the job.

Keep in mind, You need 10-mm SPLINE (12-point), not THORX (6-point) to unscrew those 4 bolts. VERY hard to unscrew, they are secured with loctite

  8. needed:

    1. BOX

    2. Thorx screwdriver

    3. 12-point SPLINE 10 mm (may be difficult to find) to unscrew the seat

    4. 2 thorxes (dont know exact measuring, ask the dealer for bolts that will suit to fix this box)

    Steps:

    1. unscrew 4 splines fixing the seat to the floor

    2. remove the seat from the car

    3. unscrew 1 thorx fixing the front covering under the seat

    4. remove the covering

    5. fit the box in place

    6. screw back the thorx you did in pt.3

    7. screw 2 more thorxes fixing the back part of the BOX. You will see the the holes for them already drilled in the seat frame. Check the box is firmly secured, or you will have to put the seat out later

    8. put the seat back in place and tighten 4 splines fixing it to the floor.
