  1. My Monte did this and had Dunlops, got the same old 17 inch wheels and low profile tyres story from the dealership. Then my vRS did this as well. Dealer was very poor and together with some other small problems with the car that they failed to resolve I decided to jump ship.

Personally I think the overall dealer experience has dropped over the years, when I had my Vrs mk1 which had a few problems but all were fixed swifty.

But yes your car should not do this, get it back!

  2. You will be informed by the maxidot display when you need to take your Skoda for a service. There is a menu you can call upon where it tells you how many days/mileage that this will occur.

Some people prefer to get their cars serviced annually rather than be on variable but that's a topic for another day.

What mileage do you do, and the type of driving etc will impact on when a service is needed on your vehicle.

  3. I am loving the BMW. Funny my friend has just got a new M135i and i was fortunate to be let loose on it. All I can say was I was completely blown away by it. I have never driven such a lovely car. The soundtrack was awesome and the performance was off the scale. Build quality, comfort and handling were top notch.  He wisely choose some great options the best one being the adaptive suspension which was great.

It would be extremely unfair and unjust to compare the Fabia Vrs as the BMW simply is leagues better in every aspect and so it should be with a price tag of £30k.

  4. I have some music on my phone that i wanted to play, so I plugged the lead in the auz socket adjacent to the auto box. This did not show up on the stereo. But when I unplugged the MDI connector it did play. So the question is can't you have the MDI and Aux lead connected at the same time? Not a huge problem, but thought I would ask?

    Thanks

  5. Excellent summary of the DSG box. After 7 months in mine I have quietly come to appreciate the marvels of the technology.

Sometimes you have to take Honest John, What Car and other reviews with a pinch of salt and go and try for yourself, just to see what you are missing!

  6. Does QI2 mean it is fixed onlyor can it be switched to variable? 11 plate 1.6 tdi 105 if it matters.

QI2 according to service interval booklet page 6 states, As per service interval display, or 7500km, or 1 year, so fixed.

My preference is to get the vehicle serviced annually as I only do a small mileage.

  7. Some later fabia's are set for variable servicing. Check your documentation to see the code that came from the factory, this can be found in your service book. Mine is set to QI6 which is variable. However I am on a 3 year fixed service deal.

Codes for fixed servicing are: QI1, QI2, QI3, QI4 according to service book on page 5. Reckon yours will either be QI4 (Service annually or at 15,000km), or as mine.

    Hope this helps.

  8. I have a dash rattle on my Monte on the left side of the glove box, but I was wondering what fix you were talking about for the dash rattles and things?

the fix is for the dashboard binnacle which sounds like a sweet wrapper. Comes and goes and seems temperature related.

  9. Rattles in cars are so annoying but I appreciate that sometimes these are cant be avoided .

I have a few on my Vrs, the dashboard sometimes makes creaking noise but I know there is a fix for this. Door cards and rear suspension are a bug bear at the moment. But I learn to live with these.

Funny my Mum’s S reg 1998 Polo has not one rattle for a 15 year old car I find amazing. Previously though my Monte didn’t have any rattles and when I had my Focus MK1 ST this did not have one either.

  10. lots of Monte's pulling to the left. In fact mine was when I picked it up, they rotated the tyres around and this sort of cured it. My Vrs pulls to the left as well, a combination of low profile tyres and camber of the roads. I will put up with it until my first service and I will see what the dealership can do. Does seem to be a common problem though. A quick search on here will reveal plenty of posts.

  11. Came from a Monte Carlo 1.2 tsi (86bhp) to a Vrs. Its a hard one as both cars offer something different. Being really subjective I actually prefer the looks of the Monte over the Vrs. But the Vrs has won me over with the DSG and performance with just a little more penalty at the pumps. The ride of the Vrs can be hard over the pot hole filled roads in Liverpool.

If I was looking now though the Monte Tech seems a very good value proposition.

I would actually go for the diesel with a remap.

My monte didn't have a rattle or squeak, whereas the Vrs has rather a lot, which isn't brilliant.

There is though the new Fiesta which divides option on here. My friend has little Zetec one and it handles and rides really well.
