I was reading a foreign report last night from the head Skoda man; two new Yeti models are planned - 1 smaller than current, 1 larger expanding the SUV range to 3 vehicles. No dates or spec confirmed.
Unfortunately I can't find the report now but I'm sure someone can find more info.
It was a statement made at the Geneva motor show by company chairman Dr Winfried Vahland reported in the press to the effect that they were looking at a seven seat vehicle to go above the yeti, didnt say if it was going to be a developement of the yeti or not.. Also commented that the Roomster would likely be replaced by a compact SUV due to the poor sales of the said Roomster due to its looks and that the next Superbe would be a 'milestone and I dont say that lightley' more than an evolution of the present car. He also hinted that they were considering a VW Caddy type long wheelbase model as a cheaper form of family transport. We shall have to wait and see what appears.

Hi folks just had a problem with our HTP 1.2 in that the rear wiper motor seems to be packing up, sometimes it works slowly ,other times not at all. No longer in warranty so I thought I might have a look see before going to the dealer. Anybody got any ideas on how to get the plastic cover off without breaking it? It seems to be very firmly attached with no clips or screws visible. Would be grateful for any sugestions, 4lb lump hammer not an option at the moment but well!!!

Most French drivers don't bother with insurance ,tax or testing there vehicles absolutely shocking, French police are a law onto themselves, I love the country but !
Interesting comment! Shame there is little factual truth in it!!! Most French drivers do insure and test their their cars and certificates are displayed on the windscreen clearly for the police to check and they do everytime you are stopped. There has been no road tax in France for over ten years so no they dont pay road tax! As for carrying a breatherliser kit its costs about 2 euros from any chemist no big deal. If you check for uninsured drivers on the roads I think you will find the UK well in the lead in that department! If you drive in the north west of France near the channel ports be carefull as the British have a bad reputation for taking the p-ss regarding speeding and drink driving. The Gendarmerie are well aware. Be warned.

Just amazed you can get ovr 1000kph out of an octy!
Shuddering is probably when he passes through the sound barrier!!

Hi all - My father has a 2007 Fabia II and since last week both the driver & front passenger electric windows have ceased to operate. Given each is protected by its own 25A fuse I was not surprised when both fuses were intact and not blown, I figured the problem must lie further up the system. However having examined the fuse list there was only one other fuse I felt could be involved, that being one that operated "rear mirror & power windows" rated at 7.5A (no.11 on the fuse list} but that fuse is also intact!
Has anyone else incurred this problem and/or any ideas as to the problem?
Many thanks
Our 2008 model 1.2 HTP has just started the same problem, only one day they work another day they dont. There seems to be no logic as to why this happens its going to the dealer in a couple of weeks for service so I hope they can fix it as the warranty runs out shortly. Be interested if you find a solution.

Can any of you guys out there confirm the correct method of checking the oil level on the 1.2 Htp 3 cylinder 51KW engine? My handbook (in french) states that the 47KW must be done when its warm, but doesnt mention the 51Kw version. Any thoughts folks?

I had a 4X4 Octavia 2.0 TDi, towed a caravan for three years. Excellent tow car but my dealer did warn me that reversing the car with a caravan on the back was the quickest way to wear your DMF especially reversing up hill. After 3 years use, only 30K kilometres, it was beginning to chatter a bit and a bit of judder on reverse. I traded it for another vehicle, the DMF on a 4X4 is dearer than the standard car. I think the problem is the heat caused by slipping the clutch in reverse, something you cannot really avoid in those situations.
-
Hope this makes sense; does the Haldex 4x4 system work as well in reverse gear, as it does in forward gears?
I understand how the Haldex system works with normal driving, you get some wheel spin on the front wheels and power is then transferred to the rear wheels. However, when reversing with a caravan, on to a pitch on a muddy / wet field (rallies), does the 4x4 system still kick in? With my C5 the front wheels spin with no traction at all, so will the Haldex put more power to the rear wheels in reverse to get traction, especially if trying to get a caravan wheel up on to a levelling ramp.]
:wonder:

Do you have a link? I see nothing about Fabia.
No, for some reason they didnt mention the Fabia. Went past my local dealer the other day and there were a lot of new cars on the forcourt, 4 or 5 Yetis, Fabias and a couple of Superbs, lots of Octavias. I imagine if the spec was right you could take instant delivery.

There is a guy just written in to a French car magazine, his built in sat nav has just failed in his Clio, its going to cost him 1750 euros to repair, not an uncommon problem apparently. Makes a Tom Tom look attractive!

Ive just ordered a Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2tsi for the wife.
I've specced it up to the nuts because i want it to something she'll still enjoy being in (and i will too) in many years time.
Options are:
Amundsen sat-nav
Climate
Cruise
Rear electric windows
Bluetooth
Front armrest
Storage boxes (both seats)
Space saver
Mats
Red cloth (no cost)
So were spending decent money... the deal theyve given us isnt anything startling, pretty much standard vat off (nowt for free)
We've signed on the dotted line, paid a depsoit and the dealer has come back to say "he's been talking to the dealership boss who's heard that the sat-navs are being withdrawn from new orders due to a lack of electronic parts from Japan".
He's guiding us toward removing the nav from the spec which i really dont want to do. If i could find any info on this id accept it but the truth is ive been trawling the net for this for days and still cant find any info.
Is this legit or am i better off cancelling and ordering through a dealer who wants to offer us the spec we want.
I was really impressed with the salesman to start off with, very attentive, very entusiastic and knowledgeable... i cant help but think now weve paid a deposit its all a bit dismissive.
My wife originally posted this same query but did it in the introduce yourself section so although she got plenty of 'welcomes' there wasnt much in the way of info.

Nowadays Skoda only galvanise the 'vital' areas of the car, saves money and weight!

Evening all,
Was waxing the car last week when I was less than impressed to discover some rust on my tailgate, along the seam that runs above the numberplate and under the badges:
Here:
Zooming in, it looks like this:
On the back of it, on the boot facaing side the paint has cracked too as it's clearly expanded. The same is starting on the N/S too although it's nowhere near as advanced.
Took it to the local dealer last Monday and am waiting on the warranty response. It had better be positive otherwise it's small claims court time as there's supposed to be a 10 (or is it 12?) year anti perforation warranty on these things. God knows how as the boot is clearly not galvanised.
Then, was washing the car again today and noticed this on the roof seams - what appears to be cracking paint:
Has anyone else experienced either of these issues, and more importantly had a positive outcome from the dealer? I had some rust repaired on the Fabia boot lid when I had that under anti-perforation warranty and there were no issues (car was 4 years old at the time), but this car is even younger so I'd expect the same treatment if not better.
Had no response from dealer yet re boot lid so will be calling tomorrow to chase, and add the roof issue into the mix. :(
Chris.

If he is offering a tow bar for 750 euros, grab it with both hands, mine for an octavia cost over 1100 euros, six hours labour standard Skoda charge!
-
TP
thanks for the link to the French site - trying to get the French dealer down on the price of the tow bar - he wants 750 Euros - I know that it is important to get it done "right" as I have a SAAB with the same (canbus) considerations and reversing sensor - plus I know that there is 3 hours work to do the job
I'll have a word with him on Monday about the spare - maybe I can get a new steel 16'' that will fit into the boot space
He quoted me 12 weeks for a new factory order on the 4WD or 8 weeks on the 110 2WD - so when he said he could get me the colour, engine and spec I wanted in 15 days, (it has to be collected from another dealer, (I suppose that they will "rag" it down the Autoroute when they delivery it - dealer to dealer) - then PDIed), plus a useful discount, I jumped at it.
Just a pity about the 17" wheels and a few other small "bits" that I wanted - I'll ask him if he can changed the Spits for the 16" Moon, but as they are already on the vehicle I doubt he will do that although it is new with "zero" kms
Thanks again guys, for your quick responses
Cheers

Went to Bradford today 200 mile round trip mainly motorway. Kept speed at just below 60mph and got a reading on OBC of 51.8 MPG. Thought keeping speed down might be a chore but found it very relaxing while making good steady progress.Same trip at 70 (ish)mph a couple of weeks back returned a reading of 38.8MPG. I did use Redex as recommended by Estate Man so whether that contributed , not sure but it seems this little car requires a gentle right foot if you want the economy. My engine has now covered approx 15200 miles.
Have just completed 14000 Kms (8400 miles) over 3 years, mostly short journeys and the remainder over fairly hilly roads and our long term figure is 39.6 mpg, pretty good really for the type of driving. Its a very sweet little engine, no problems to date so should see me out!!

Great pics, and a lovely looking VRS. After much panic about another ice age in December, England has been pretty mild in comparison.
I'm a bit wheels obssessed at the moment. Note that Skoda Norge is delivering VRSs with Zenith alloys in Norway, rather than the 18" Neptunes.
In your first picture the Octavia 4x4 on the left has some unusual wheels on - any idea what these are. A previous post mentioned Xion winter wheels, but I've not been able to find any reference anywhere. I'd like to get hold of some 16" alloys as winter wheels for my Scout, and the ones in your photo look the part.
Cheers,
Les.
Look like Apollons, standard 16 inch fit in France on the 4X4

This seems to me a very reasoned, and reasonable, argument. I have an apartment in Aix-en-Provence, and the local Skoda dealer (whom I visited last September, having ordered my Yeti in the UK a month earlier, in an effort to actually see a SM in the flesh) had nothing to show me, didn't know when he would have any Yetis in stock, wasn't terribly interested, etc., etc. I have only ever seen one second-hand Yeti advertised in the local (French) paper, and that appeared for only one day so I assume it was snapped up, although if I remember rightly it was a 1.2 2wd with about 20,000 kilometres on the clock (no idea what trim), 18 months old and advertised at 18,000 euros! I have never seen a Yeti on the road in France despite having driven from Calais to Provence and back several times, as well as all through the south west on a trip from Spain, since its launch.
I have only seen one here on the road in France since they came out. They are much more expensive here and my local dealer seems to have several lying about on the forecourt. At the price they are in UK plus available discount , they almost must be sold as a loss leader! Hardly surprising then that they are going to supply their more profitable markets first in left hand drive form.

Clearly you are all wrong.
My Morris Minor is less than 800kg for optimum sportiness and with a 948cc engine pumping out an amazing 37hp it's far more of a drivers car than any Clio, VRS or Fiat thingy.
Here! Here! My very first car, went like a bomb, a small one, stopping it was another story!

Spoke to one of my local garages and he seemed to think it could well be a DMF problem. I asked him for a quick quote and the breakdown was as follows.
Flywheel - £335
Clutch plus odds and sods - £200
4 1/2 hours labour
Total cost £911.54
Sounded reasonable to me for that kind of a job. I questioned him on the reason why it might have gone after only 18k and he suspected it was due to the fact the car does 95% stop start short journeys.
I guess my only question now is exactly how desperate is it to get the job done, its only made this noise a few times and the other sympton he mentioned which was judder on set off is very marginal i would say.
OK mine was done in France but the garage replaced the dual mass with a single mass flywheel, I presume under instructions from Skoda France. They told me I should never have the same problem again. I must say the car felt slightly rougher after the change and we sold the car shortly afterwards having lost confidence in it.
-
I certainly hope not, that sounds like an expensive job. Surely not after only 18k
I hope not as well, but mine went at 11000KMs, 6600 miles! Was done under warranty and I suspect that it was faulty from new.

BUMP - anyone ?
DMF on its way out?

Have just popped my bonnet to top up washer fluids check oil and generally have a look after owning my beast for a couple of weeks now.
SHOCK HORROR my engine bay and under bonnet look like they are only painted in primer grey car is steel grey metallic!!!!
Now that i have had time to calm down i am not sure if it is primer or just a grey paint and wonder if this is just a cost cutting exercise by skoda.
wing paint stops on edge of wing that dissapears in to panel gap between wing and bonnet.
Going back to dealer next week anyway so have asked them to check other stock.
Can anyone clarifiy this to me?
CHEERS.
Advice is something you ask for only when you already know the costs involved are high!!!
Sounds like Skoda are really going cheapskate, my octavia was shiny grey in the engine compartment, I used to take great delight in showing my BMW owning friend this as hers was very matt finished!! I think in future Skoda cars will be cheaper but all the kit that is standard now will become optional extras, hence emphasizing the difference with VW models.
Octavia III extra warranty but worried sick about DSG7

Over half a million boxes are being recalled in china and other parts of Asia, and now VAG, after a lot of pressure, have had to admit to a problem in Australia, the differnce being here is that the boxes are made in Germany alongside those for the UK. Friends of mine in the USA say that VWs reputation there is not good and that VAG have had to give a ten year warranty on the DSG box. Sounds like a good reason to buy a DSG car only if under a good waranty.
