ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
I don't have ODBeleven but I know that it has plenty of features and it should have the option to reset and relearn. This could be one of those sections where you need to pay a little extra to unlock that mode. Perhaps other ODBeleven users can assist here. Either way, if you've had that error pop up you might need to get the radar adjusted back before kicking off the relearning phase. Was there any physical damage?

ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
I've realised you do need a long drive of several miles for the settings to fully calibrate so I've ended up with these values: Fingers crossed this will not creep up to the +/- 0.80 value which appears to be the threshold max.

ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
PS: for my OCD, please could a couple of people post pictures of their radar and how it looks in the housing? I would like to check to ensure I've got the vertical alignment correct too now I think its horizontally aligned. Mine could be pointing up slightly but not sure if this is by design. Thanks in advance!

As a point of reference this is from the VW Sharan so interesting to see that the values do not need to be bang on 0.00 degrees.

ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
I've performed the calibration and possibly some good news.... After a bit of a drive the values did creep up a bit but I do not know if this is normal over a period of time. They have reached -0.03 for the misalignment angle and the fast algorithms has reached -0.06. I will have to keep a watch. Thus far no 'Front Assist Unavailable' warning. For the benefit others, I've spoken to Dunns Automotive Ltd, Unit 11 South Point, Ensign Way, Hamble-le-Rice, Southampton SO31 4RF. They seem very switched on and professional about a ADAS recalibration should I need this. It was at the time of writing this post £180 all in. If my fault returns I will book in here. Now it is grill repair/replacement time since that is one ugly gap!

ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
Thanks, yea the mounting plate looks good thankfully. I did manipulate it back to be more square since it looked a little like it was pointing to the offside. The plastic pins all look in tact so I think the metal bracket was slightly bent by the Pheasants head on impact. I've noticed in VCDS there is an option in module 13 called 'Reset Misaligned Angle'. Anyone had any experience of this please?

ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton
Hello all, Can anyone recommend a good place to have the ADAS alignment done in Southampton? A Pheasant decided to headbutt the front grill and looks to have moved the Radar module out of alignment according to VCDS. 1 Fault Found: 1540 - Sensor for Automatic Distance Regulation; Incorrectly Positioned C1103 00 [00001001] - - [FAULT_MISALIGNMENT_HORIZONTAL] Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Cheers!

Dropped a piece of dry pasta into windscreen air vent
A random one but something I've often thought about. You could try setting the climate/HVAC to windscreen only, removing the pollen filter and then sealing up all the gaps around the box to create a vacuum and use a powerful cleaner to suck it out.

1.4 TSI Startup Noise
Yea my noise has not changed since I bought the Octavia in 2017. It seems by design for sure.

Windscreen washer pump replacement
I think you will need to take off the inner wheel arch lining to gain correct access. Here are some pictures.

This is how mine behaves for reference. https://youtu.be/_kTnESvwfhE

No, I can’t see if it’s safe to move!!
On mine with the factory camera, that left section is slightly transparent but actually only stays on for a second or so and then slides to the left out of the way showing the full camera view. I don't think there is a setting but there could be that controls this if you dive into the settings menu. Edit: picture of what mine looks like.

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
Just as a follow up - pump replaced by the local indi VAG garage so fingers crossed tis all good. The old one looks pretty hideous - car has 35k on it and it looks like its been leaking for a while! Classic was correct, leaking from the impeller seal.

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
Excellent, thanks Classic. Good to hear. I think the only time you might need the vacuum pump option is when the charge cooling system is dismantled and refilled. I read this on a VAG guide: "The charge-air cooling system needs to be bled after it is opened to ensure a correct cooling output. The system is bled either by using the cooling system charge unit VAS 6096 or by using the guided function “Filling and bleeding cooling system”. Please note the instructions in ELSA." Cheers again!

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
How was bleeding the coolant system after this job by the way? I've seen some reports of it being a bit of a mare getting all the air out of the system on these cooling systems. Have several days worth of topping up or did it generally go ok? Cheers!

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
Awesome thanks fabdavrav. Prices seem similar to mine that have been quoted from the Skoda dealer. I will be going to a VAG independent though. They use genuine parts and it seemed like the pump came with the belt and the bolts as a kit when I called Skoda parts. As you say I expect the bolts are supposed to be one use only or something. Cheers for the pictures too Classic. Nice to see the beast and compare with a new unit.

Sticking fuel flap lock - possible interim solution?
I've used WD-40 on mine when I had an 'episode' of it not opening. Touch wood it has been good for the last year or so.

Ah gotcha! Thanks for the info. Really helpful!

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
Awesome, thanks Classic. Top work there on the replacement. Good to know I am not the only one to have this fail since not much comes up for a coolant leak on these engines. Price sounds bang on from Skoda for the OEM part too. Not too silly considering its a pump and thermostat in one. Cheers for the pictures too. Mine is on 34k but is a 2014 model so guess its the issue of having a plastic pump assembly on a metal block which shows the weakness - the heating and cooling cycles perhaps.

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
Cheers. Water pump on this model is not part of the cambelt. The water pump lives on the other side of the block with its own belt. Driven by the exhaust camshaft.

1.4 TSI Coolant Leak From Water Pump
I've been loosing a bit of coolant all of a sudden and it looks like I've got a leak from the coolant pump housing. This lives on the right hand side of the engine. Mine is the 1.4 TSI 103 KW CHPA unit, Anyone had this before and know the rough price for replacement. Hoping it is just a gasket replacement but could end up being the full pump. Update Price for the pump, bolts and belt is £243. Labour to do the job was quoted at £525 all in. Picture 1 shows the location of pump, picture 2 shows where the coolant collects (handy in a recess - though I've mopped this up) and picture 3 shows where the coolant is dripping from.

DSG stop/start...
I've never actually had it shut the engine down before a complete stop from memory. My DSG will only switch the engine off at 0 mph. Annoying that it kicks the engine back to life when I move to neutral and take my foot off the brake too. But almost every single time I am in the car I disable this. This is only enabled when I know I will be at lights for at least more than 30 seconds or say at roadworks. It's also disabled during the cold weather when I know the battery will be taking a hammering So as Roottoot says your mileage may vary!
