  1. A good bit of rattling because of the subwoofer comes from the tin plate between the exhaust and the body of the car (don't know the exact word for it in English, sorry)

I've been thinking about removing it, but haven't done so yet.

Oh and my subwoofer is installed in a casted box made out of glass fibre in the spare wheel hole, with bitumen absorber in between the the box and the hole.

  2. Ive tried all sorts to get mine on with no luck lol. I can see the symbol on the dash but it dont light. Mine must be one of the ones without it. If this is the case why dont you take the bulb out?

I probably will unless I come up with a solution to the flickering problem. As I never tilt my rear seats (except when installing audio equipment :giggle: ) I don't need the light at all. Would just be nice to have it fixed, but won't if it costs too much :D

  3. A metal one? Custom job I take it? Where from?

I'm located in Finland and I bought it from a local shop. Cost me around £105, installed it myself (bolt-on) and haven't had problems since.

I think the make was "Sheriff" and the official item name here in Finland was just plain "Fabia RS 1.9 D TDI 9/2003 - 1896cm3 ASZ 6Y2 4cyl. 96kW 130bhp"

Ask around, think they should have them there also :)

  4. I've replaced my plastic under tray with one that's made of 2mm steel. It isn't as thick as the plastic one, so I now have more space between the under tray and the ground, although it still does scrape every now and then either on gravel or on tarmac if there are deep tracks for the wheels. Anyway, the steel under tray actually protects something, which is in what the plastic one failed at B)

Also I'd like to give in my 5 cents for the splitter discussion, I painted mine (along with the front bumper) around a month ago, and it has scraped badly twice already, so now I'm just going to get a "LOW HURTS ->" sticker pointing at it rather than worrying and replacing or repainting it :giggle:

I can get pics of the steel undertray for you if you want to see it.

  5. I bet it's as bad here as it is there mate, couldn't get on my own yard with my car in the spring :dull:

The motorways are still full of signs warning about unusually big pits and such. Just need to get more power to compensate the loss of avg mph caused by the braking ;)

  6. The lower profile tyres mean that you pay a bomb to get good ones, plus they tramline more. They're also harder on bumps, and are more likely to break-out into a sideways slide because there is less tyrewall to flex. They do look the business though :D

Exactly. It does bring lots of stiffness and roughness to the ride. But since this car is a hobby of mine (it's such a wonderful excuse for putting money in it, don't you think? ) I'll pay more for the tyres. Although I didn't get the most expensive ones, because I like to spend a little more on my winter tyres (friction, not studs, Nokia Hakkapeliitta R).

And what comes to the roughness of the ride, that's exactly what I'm after. I've lowered the chassis as low as possible with these wheels, and have set the dampeners to their stiffest position. Also I just ordered a rear ARB and am going to order a strut brace for the front from my local dealer today. The stiffer the ride, the better ;)

I'll try to get some pics of the car when I get it back, have it currently parked at my employers parking lot and have a truck on me instead B)

(Ming my English grammar, I'm from Finland ;) )

  7. The main problem with the rear speakers is that they're only 4" in diameter, and you can't fit larger ones in the same spot where the original speakers are (seat belt roller is in the way). Bought a 2-way speaker set for both front and back, and they came with 6.5" mids, had to install them elsewhere :I

Anyway, bass is much better now in the mid-range sounds compared to the cardboard originals (have a 12" sub for low bass).

  8. If you can get your hands on a machine that's sole purpose is cleaning car seats (it has a vacuum in it and in the same nozzle the thing that sprays the cleansing liquid on the seats), you'll have no problems to DIY :)

Done it several times, and also I've tried the spray bottle stuff and it sucks *** :D

  9. sorry to bring this back up but do you know the part number and cost? mine snapped earlier and im fuming. cheers

If your glove box lid is on the left side of the car (and the opening mechanism on the right end of the lid) the part no is 6Y2 857 121, if it's on the right side of the car and the mechanism on the left end of the lid the part no is 6Y1 857 121.

    This is for Fabia.

Don't know the price though :/
