  1. Quick update. New motor sorted it. The old one worked fine turned upside down but intermittently the right way up so your diagnosis probably spot on. On to next problem now!
  2. Going to get a new fan motor, hopefully that'll sort it. £100 wasted if not but from the sheer number of posts either the fan or resistor is likely to go sooner or later!
  3. 2005 VRS WITH 102K MILES. Could be that but would that cause the whirring sound?
  4. Hi, got a problem perhaps not fully covered previously. The heater blower works on all settings/speeds then dies away to nothing. It only works when the car is started and once it's stopped working it doesn't operate again until the ignition has been off for a while. It can work okay on setting 2 if untouched but once it gets altered it dies. Checked fuses and all ok, if it was the resistor it would still work on 4 always? The fan is making a noise but checked for debris and nothing obvious. Any ideas folks? Thx, SAM
  5. Hi all, my 2005 VRS has developed a few electrical issues. Most importantly (& dangerously) the wipers just stop working. Happened twice now, both times in heavy rain with wipers set to normal continuous operation. 1st time was on a motorway so slightly frightening. After some fiddling they started working again (which made us think it was us not the car!), however it occurred again yesterday! Next, the oil service light came on. It's not due a service until March & hasd only done 6k since last March. Finally, both electric windows have a mind of their own, working in fits and starts & occasionally going the wrong way! Thinking we might have an ecu glitch or a fuse issue with the wipers. Any suggestions gratefully received. 16sam
  6. Only it didn't arrive AS PROMISED...........should have checked before setting off on the 12 mile round trip (but i'm used to better service with my other car so didn't).
  7. OK, just ordered from local skoda dealer using the part numbers quoted & received 1 correct item (7H0 615 296) and one incorrect item. 7H0 615 295 is a totally different spring costing £15 which I had to pay for as it was classed as special order given that I provided the part numbers. Seems that 7M0 615 295 has been replaced by 7M0 615 295A but will know more when that arrives tomorrow! Not a happy bunny (not happy that this design fault needs rectifying either along with the uncerviceable interior, frayed seatbelts, hesitation fix, porous alloys...................need i go on!).
  8. Hi, I'm new to this forum too! (been on Scoobynet for years though!). Soon (15/3/05, build starts w/c 14/2/05) I will be the proud owner of a Fab vRS to compliment my 330 Brake MY03 STi. (Managed to persuade my wife she really needed one for her car - I drive it 60% of the time!) Had a look at the fiesta & clio but couldn't see the cash in either compared to the vRS. Like you say it's difficult to find a negative review & all the owners I spoke to love them. Currently I use our p.o.s. Saxo VTR for journey's where the petrol costs on the scooby are prohibitive & I hate it, so looking forward to enjoying ALL my driving again. Ste
