  1. I would say that firstly you need to confirm that it IS a problem caused by water ingress. If so - then try contacting Skoda UK (although - not sure what they would do - if anything). I think each case is probably dealt with "on it's own merit" - ie depends on age of vehicle, and depends on how much fuss you kick up!
  2. Actually Skoda UK were very good. They told me to take it back to the dealer to get it stripped and dried, and they (SUK) would foot the bill - which they did; i did point out to them that any damp/corroded wiring could, potentially be a fire risk (my car has, eg, heated front seats - which need a lot of current). However, the dealer was still a disappointment - they promised to show me pictures of the wiring loom etc to prove it was all dry - but they didnt. Car seems to have been fine since.
  3. having asked the question - I thought it might be useful to other members to know I found an independant VAG garage in Newcastle upon Tyne which has given me a good deal and excellent service - http://www.swiftmotorengineering.co.uk/ I would be happy to recommend them based my experience so far (which was short but sweet!!)
  4. I had problem with interior lights - it was due to water ingress and the ecu had failed - as Fred said above. I have read on here many times that people have been able to buy cheap (ie non Skoda) reversing sensor kits and use these. Fortunately, the last time mine died I was still covered by extended warranty. However, for the water ingress my local Skoda dealer was not much help and I had to contact Skoda. I actually emailed Skoda Czechoslovakia - and Skoda uk got in touch almost immediately (I quoted some bragging from their own website about customer service etc - which seemed to have helped). Good luck with it
  5. Thank you for the quick reply jrw - my next question - can anyone recommend an independent VAG specialist in Newcastle area?
  6. I forgot to add - I've become a bit wary of my local Dealer as they phoned me up and tried to get me to agree to changing the cambelt (during MOT last year) - when they had already done it the year before..... (Does this mean they just didnt check the records to see it had been done already - or did it not get done and i got charged anyway.....??) I also had a bit of a falling out with them over water ingress...... (interior lights failed) - i had to get Skoda Uk involved to get things sorted out... But they left my car full of water for over a week until Skoda UK got involved. I live in Newcastle upon Tyne.
  7. Hi, apologies if these questions have been answered elsewhere..... I have a 04 Superb (1.9Tdi) which has done 62000 miles and I'm getting a message saying service needed. I have been quoted £307 by the local Skoda dealer - and I think that seems quite expensive. Kwik Fit is quoting £165 - £185 for a fixed price service. my qustion is this - would the Kwik Fit option be ok - is there anything Skoda would do which Kwik Fit wouldn't? I will also need to get new front brake discs and pads fitted too - again quite pricey at the Skoda dealer (£211 for non-genuine parts) - I'm sure kwik fit would be cheaper for the brakes too. my last service was (i think) 2 years ago - and they changed the cam belt then. My budget is tight - so I'd be very grateful for any advice.
  8. i bought my superb elegance 1.9tdi PD130 in jan 2008 - and paid for extended warranty. i had a problem last October with the interior lights failing - the dealer said it was a common problem due to the pollen filter box. they sorted it out and did not charge me. this year i took the car back with a parking sensor fault (intermittent) which they were due to fix this week under the extended warranty. however, i have since found that the front foot-well carpets(L+R) were wet (soaking after the last few days of torrential rain) - they've now told me that this was due to a grommet in the battery compartment which they have replaced and they will get the valet folk to vax the carpets. however, i'm not entirely happy that they haven't taken the carpets right out to dry thoroughly (and also checked for water damage to electrics etc) - they say this(water ingress) is not covered by warranty and i will have to pay to get that done (ie - carpets out - around £300). am i right to think its important to get it all dried properly? should they do this under warranty? any thoughts/replies would be most appreciated!!
