  1. Ridgeway Oxford, previously Jewsons. Excellent all round.

I firmly believe that any relationship is only as good as what you put into it. Not saying you shouldn't always receive excellent service but the service can be even better than excellent if you build a positive relationship with the people at the dealership.

  2. I have 150 diesel manual and oil is due at 18,700, with the service not saying yet, but expect that to be 18,000+. Why are you having it serviced at 10k?

I just prefer 10k intervals, and with mileage at 700 per week I can usually predict exactly when it will be due. In the past in variable intervals I'd not get enough warning. Also I prefer to be able to say that "you only had it here a few k miles ago so should have noticed xyz" if there are issues. It's certainly not necessary, just my preference.

  3. So, booked in for 10,000 mile first oil change / inspection service on Friday.

Getting the recall done plus the now official modification to the O/S washer hose (confirmation from Skoda that removing the back pressure regulator is supposed to resolve weak spray).

What else, based on experiences here, should I get the dealership to check?

And is anyone else here at 10K miles yet? (Actually it's 9,520 odd but I am clocking over 700 a week) :-)

  4. Having followed up with my dealership as promised, they have confirmed that Skoda DO have knowledge of the issue and as Feedan says above, their fix is to remove the back pressure regulator and replace with standard hose.

The positive is that this information is now available to dealerships directly via their mechanism of contacting the factory.

The evidence provided from this forum was helpful in establishing that there is a real problem.

Mine is booked in for it's 10,000 mile service on Friday, the recall, and this modification. Fingers crossed!

  5. With the ignition on and your desired seat position obtained do the following.

Press the front memory record button then press and keep any of the three other buttons pressed until you hear a "bong" your seat position is stored.

I use number 1 for driving and number 3 for getting out of the car to avoid touching the seat side bolster on the way out and in to the car as it can lead to wear on the outer edge.

A lower seat position in 3 then? I wondered about doing that. Would you share a bit more about your seat setup if you have time? thanks!

  6. You can switch on the reversing camera whilst travelling forward, but only you're stationary or almost stationary and at very slow speeds. As soon as you reach 3mph or similar it turns back off. Just press the parking sensor switch to activate it manually.

I also use it to see if someone's approaching the car so I can pop the boot open for them.

  7. I have exactly the same issue with mine, took it back to the dealers and they identified it as a problem.  They have a part on back order for me so will just wait and see what it is when they fix it.  As a short term fix they took the parts off a car they had in stock but TBH it has had exactly the same issues.  Will have to wait and see what happens.  Other than that cannot complain about anything else.

that's exactly what my dealership did first time - said there was a missing / faulty O ring and they'd taken one off the superb in the showroom. I pointed out it was just as bad as before. I'm due to go back and tell them more, but will do so with the body of evidence built up here when I have a chance to do so.

  8. The 12v socket in the boot certainly is permanent live.

Be careful with the camera you choose as the Superb has a very large plastic housing covering the mirror housing / rain sensor / camera.

I opted for a Thinkview F750 and used the rear camera in the windscreen (quality is more than good enough and only very slightly down on the ‘main’ camera) and put the main camera in the back (attached to the brake light housing at the top of the rear window)

Cables were run through the rubber trunking between the hatch and body.

Hi Gizmo, where precisely did you mount the camera at the front? Regarding the regulations for mounting cameras, I see that you're not supposed to mount the camera in the wiper zone (interesting as on the SIII the wiper zone is the entire screen!) so I'm inclined to mount the front camera directly behind the rear view mirror, so it's directly in line with and below the camera in the housing you mention above.

    Got any pics?

    Cheers,

    Mike

  9. I always reset on a decent bit of road after adjusting tyre pressures. I found after PDI all the tyres were inflated for maximum load.

The system is a rolling radius one monitored by the traction control system (or something more technical than that).

One thing I'm hoping for is that the dashboard display will show WHICH tyre is lower than the others - on the SII it was a case of having to inspect each tyre if it wasn't immediately obvious...

  10. I'm confused why I ordered hill hold control for £100 on a manual 150PS L&K when autohold is supplied as standard.

So: turn OFF autohold; brake on an incline, without having put the parking brake on. You get a couple of seconds of brakes held on so you can remove foot from brake pedal, engage gear and accelerate forward.

But with autohold turned on, you can come to a stop on an incline, release the brake pedal, the car is held with the brakes on, and when you engage forward gears and move off, the brakes are released.

I'm curious what difference / benefit one is over the other. Autohold seems to be the better option?

  11. Adjusting the screenwashers is no problem, it is the same as the MKII a smal torx/allen head screw. At least it is on my 190 L&K. Possible reason for aparant extra pressure on the near side could be that the tank and pump are on the nearside.

At slow speed it could be a little higher on the drivers side, but raising mine sends too much over the roof at 60/70 mph. The new jets have 3 jet sprays per unit not the full fan spray as the MKII. I still have new spare MKII units and if I do not get used to the new ones I will swap them.

how exactly does that work? Does the position of that screw alter the position up the windscreen?

  12. I might be in a minority, but I insist on a service every 10K miles, and I do 35K a year. Theory is that's the best way to look after it, also the "but it was only in here for a service (less than 10K miles ago) so why didn't you notice xyz" is in my backpocket, though admittedly I've not had to use that.

I just like the idea of having the thing I depend on serviced at regular intervals, even if it might cost a bit more.
