  1. Either Ebay for a cheap aftermarket replacement full set, or hook up to VAG-COM to find out which sensor is bust. Not cheap tho, each one is about £80. I would like to know if any VAG sensor would work. Quite a few on ebay that look similar with a slightly different part number...

  2. I have a Dietz unit in mine, it's a Dietz 1212 if my memory serves. Rarer than rock horse droppings tho. I paid £50 from some dude in germany. Great when hooked up to a video source (excellent sound) but... quite distracting if u wire it up to play whilst moving. And Mr plod would'nt be happy if they stopped you. Might be interested in selling if i get a good offer.

  3. My parking sensors have given up the ghost recently, and I was trying to find out which one (without a Vagcom)

Someone said that you can hear them ticking faintly, but I've been round all of them with a stethoscope (ignition on, car in reverse, reversing lights on) and can't hear a thing. Does anyone know if this is true or is it an urban myth?

    Thanks

I think this only works if you have'nt got a fault, cos the computer must switch em all off if there's a fault..

  4. On my Elegance it has a AUX input on the back of the head unit. Buying an adaptor was tricky for me tho. I got a DIETZ 1212, which u can plug video into also to watch movies on the sat nav screen. Not sure what the COMFORT has tho.. Try a Google search for DIETZ. I think the audio only one is A DIETZ 1214, not 100% tho it was a while ago when i did it.. P.S. u cant control the device with the steering controls tho.

  5. I hooked mine upto VAG-COM and it says rear right sensor, "short to ground". Anyone know if this is fixable? I'm guessing its not a fault with the sensor, but just the wiring somewhere hopefully.... Does anyone who has taken their sensors out, know where the wiring is grounded??

  6. Does anyone know if there's an "how to" anywhere on fitting these? Is it just a case of linking to the reverse light power, and an earth?? Mine decided not to work suddenly last week and i nearly reversed into a car on car park, i was about 2mm away before i realised the beeps werent there.... Just getting the long (annoying) beep now.

  7. Ye i had the same problem last year when i first got my car. I cant remember how i fixed it exactly. But try the 'on/off' switch on the left hand indicator stalk or try moving knob for the electric mirrors.I know it sounds a bit wild, but the mirror knob is connected to the seat memory to control the passenger side reverse mirror function... HTH but probably wont

  8. Strange, when I had my VX Cav GSI 2000 16V 4X4 (yes all that was written on the boot!), I joined the VX Performance Car Club, which as well as other things, allowed you to talk to VX - which I only needed to do twice to get part numbers for retro fitting some later parts from the Cav Turbo 4X4 - and they quickly helped me out. VW on the other hand ignored and changed my reg number after I infromed them that I had imported a car - so I missed any possibilities of getting contacted for re-calls! Also a query about front brakes washing out said "buy A4/A6 equivalent parts as they have been upgraded" - at that request they did not know the car was a personal import, while they did admit that that problem was well known, they informed me that it was being designed out of the face-lifted cars (B5.5) and it was not really a VAG problem as other manufacturers were also having problems - that was not really a smart bit of customer service help, more a head in the sand!

I'm not saying Skoda are good, its just that Vauxhall dealers were a bunch of idiots imho. Luckily ive not had any dealings with Skoda yet........

  9. Ye thanks man, your guide helped a lot. I much prefer the auto-box now.. Used to get annoying that it would downshift when i just wanted to go. Now it seems to hold gears longer like its in tiptronic but without the 'hassle' of pushing the gearstick up and down.. lol

P.S. sorry about hijacking this thread

  10. hi gizmo Thats what I am on with at the moment. Water in both F & B have taken out the seat & now need to take out the rear, can u help on that 1. Once thats done I am going to solder everything in sight & then cover in vaseline spray the loom tie wrap & then wrap with that vaseline impregnated tape that they used for wrapping the old metal gas pipes. Mind u that could be a bad idea because sometimes wrapping cables can act like a pipe carrying water from an area where u can,t wrap them, to a socket or something like that.

If that isn,t successful I will probably sell the car! I haven,t any interior rear lights, sunvisor mirror lights,or reversing sensors. I have EMailed Skoda head office for help but I am not really expecting a reply, which is sad. their is a lot of competion vehicle wise so if you are thinking of changing your vehicle customer service can be a deciding factor.

Yes indeed a good customer service is essential.. Thats why i got rid of my Vauxhall Vectra..

  11. I've just tried the climatronic diagnosis mode. And was wondering if the speed shown on the climatronic is more accurate than the speedo. It seems to be about 3 mph under the speed of the speedometer. Is this the correct speed being digital? But i guess speedo's are all digital these days, just made to look analogue... Masy be usefull when going through speed cameras to know that doing 35mph on speedo, really means about 31-32. BTW to get the diagnosis mode working, just press down arrow + blue temp button + ECON button. Use the blue and red for up and down in the menus. Number 16 is the speed display (there are 79 i think) most are temperature displays and stuff, i did find a complete list showing all values somewhere on these forums, but cant find it again. Also if you press ECON and AUTO, it changes the values from KPH -MPH. Hope someone finds this as usefull as i have. My kids love watching the speed going up and down from the back seat, when i put the hammer down..
