  1. In the hope it helps people in the future, I fitted one of these kits to my 2019 vRS Estate over the last couple of days but couldn’t get it to work - very simply, no response at all when putting the car into reverse. I contacted Sinosmart via WhatsApp for help and they commented that there’s a manufacturing issue with the dashboard end of the long camera cable. Where it connects to the converter harness, the arrows don’t align with the keyway which means that it doesn’t mate up properly if you line up the arrows (like I did originally). Hopefully the photo attached will show roughly how the arrows should look to align the keyway, but make sure the two halves are then pressed home to make the connection sound.
  2. I'm having a similar error - but mine is frustrating, as I bought this HEX+CAN lead less than 2 years ago and have used it almost exclusively to make adaptations to my Octavia 3 vRS. I'm now trying to make some changes to revert this coding to standard, but VCDS won't let me as it is attempting to send coding messages of over 256 bits, which it seemingly can't do. It's managed to do this before though.... Any ideas on how to get around this, other than finding someone with HEX-NET? I would understand if my current cable was unable to access newer controllers and was therefore becoming less useful, but having been used extensively on this car before just seems wrong to me!
  3. Assuming your PCH is through Skoda Finance, it's worth giving them a call to understand the possible costs at the end of term. I did previously (as I also have kerb damage to my Gemini rims) - they told me that costs are likely to be £36+VAT per wheel, but I don't have that in writing (and will do so, prior to the end of the contract!).
  4. Mine is manual, drop me a line if you head further east or I'll do the same if I head west so you can try it out.
  5. Just seen this and realised you're relatively local - I'm Newport, but head further West on occasions. Happy to take you for a spin in mine with DTUK box fitted if you want to see the difference? Also more than happy to turn my box off and do a short comparison, as mine is much, much faster than a 140 Scirocco - we had one of them a few years ago too. Let me know if you want to take me up on the offer.
  6. Mine has a DTUK tuning box, so probably about 220/225 bhp. I've been in a friends RenaultSport Megane 275 Cup which feels a hell of a lot faster, but testing side by side from a rolling start shows very little difference. Yes, the Megane is quicker, but by nowhere near as much as of of us imagined it would be. The basics is that the Octavia is quick (and even more so with a box/remap), but being a smooth delivery diesel car just means it doesn't feel fast.
  7. For those struggling (like me!), VW have updated the link for the POI creator and it's a nightmare to find: http://webspecial.volkswagen.de/infotainment/de/de/manuals/nav-companion.html?d1=discoverpro&type=poiNavigation
  8. Not necessarily, you don't need a 17" for the rear. It's more faff, but if the puncture is on the front you fit the spare to the rear and the old rear wheel to the front. Identical set up was on my old Honda S2000 - spacesaver spare couldn't be used on the rear due to the LSD, so a rear puncture required a front wheel to replace it, wth the spare then fitted to the front.
  9. Why do you need two? I have two cameras, functioning off a single Power Magic Pro.
  10. I have seen these but i think for the costs involved i will make sure i just unplug them. Im sure if i go away again SWMBO will remind me of my last error. i always trickle charge the car battery every few weeks or had through the winter just a school boy error. Charger will be going on over night tonight. I also have one - for £26 (current Amazon price), is it really worth messing about with? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LN2BZL2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. What would you like to happen, the brake lights to flash with the indicators!?
  12. Ahh, nathy87! Nath, if he's got nav I would say it depends entirely on the phone he has as to whether it's worth upgrading to SmartLink. I have it enabled on my 16 plate vRS but with an iPhone it isn't too useful as Apple are extremely choosy about which apps you can use with Car Play - Google Maps is not an option, for example. However, my understanding is that Android Auto is nowhere near as restricted, so can be a lot more useful.
  13. Make sure the volume for sat nav voice guidance is turned up - if you turn this down or off, you'll get no sound warning.
  14. Rallye Green looks massively different dependent on light. All of these images are of the same (my) car.
