  1. hi all

i am looking for the number of the driving instructor-school that has a fabia vrs in the redcar - middlesbrough area as my other half wants to learn to drive and i have seen a instructors car when i have been out and about before but now i need the number i cannot find it . :'(

the car was a mk1 fabia vrs special edition

i was kinda hoping that someone on here may know the number of the driving school or even better the instructor

    any help would be greatfull

    many thanks

  2. hi all

swmbo has told me we are coming

so please can you put us on the list with a car full

looking forward to seeing the lights as the last time i was there was ohhh about 30 years ago (dont get out of me shell too much :( )

  3. hi all

what tyres do you all have on the octy spiders

the reason i ask is i have just gone and got me some mint octy vrs spiders and i know i need 40 profile but do i stay 205 or will 215 be ok

also do any of you run wheel spacers and if so what size

my car is not lowered yet but it is on the menu as i'm not keen on the 4x4 look

its always best asking before i make a mistake

    any input will be greatfull

    thanks in advance

  4. hi there

i have recently bought a 54 plate fabia vrs with 65k on the clock

now my problem is when the car just comes on boost i get a wind chime noise it sounds to me like a possible high pitched pressure escape but i can play with the sound if i feather the accelerator .

the other thing i have noticed is when i just go on boost up a hill and dont change gear but dont change the position of the accellerator pedal the noise will come back as the car goes up the hill.

could this be a intercooler fault (possibly split) or the daft clip boost pipes or worst case turbo knackerd

i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution

i have vag com if there is anything i can log

    any advice will be greatfull

  5. many thanks for all the coments

i think a price drop to £3000 and getting some different wheels like multi spokes may help

looks like it may end up standard as well but may give it another week at £3000 before i do the reverse mods to standard

i do understand it is to everyones taste and i love the wheels and i may try them on me new furby :giggle:

keep your eyes open there may be some parts coming up soon

again many thanks for all the help

  6. hi all

i have had my car up for sale and have had no intrest

    just wondering your opinions

is it overpriced or the wheels or just my luck probably the latter to be honnest

the thing is i have a furby on route and could do with this out of the way

my job now requires alot of driving and me octy is not that practical when i'm gonna be doing about 500-800 miles per week

any opinions welcome good or bad

    advert link on here

  7. ok heres the big question, will et 35 rims that are 8.5 inches wide fit without rubbing on the strut or on the wheel arch lip?

i have worked out that, asuming the vrs wheels are 17x7 et 38 then these wheels will be 16mm closer to the strut and 22 mm further out.

is this too wide for our arches or will it fit.

    answers on a postcard

    hi there

i have 18x8 on a et 35 and i can tell ya they are close to the strut and i would have not thought you would be able to go any wider but someone else may be able to confirm this

they do sit nice in the arches though alot wider stance

    hope this helps

  8. Have been contemplating getting mine powdercoated white. Looks really good, but leave the red stripe off.

How did you do the chrome bit on the grill, was it easy?

when i painted the chrome surround in the grill all ii did was remove the grill from the car i did try to split the grill to make things easier but this was not going to happen as things felt like they would break so all i did was cheat and sand the chrome with 180 grit sandpaper making sure i got every edge possible as everyone knows paint does not stick to chrome very well, once sanded i then used a acid etch primer to eat into the chrome surface then a light coat of regular primer and then the colour all done in about a hour but it transforms the front of the car

also decided to give the red stripe a miss i think i agree with you all that it is a bit too much my boss has just described it as a england flag :'(

thanks for the coments about how clean the car is i do keep on top of it cleaning and waxing about 2-3 times a week but the pics with the white wheels on the car has a thick layer of dust on from being in the bodyshop all day as i also got me a new rear bumper fitted with a exhaust hole to fit the exhaust instead of the wide opening i had wich looks a lot neater from the back now ,my exhaust does not look lost anymore

Thanks for all the coments everyone

  9. just put some old red stripe in the spokes to see how it would look

i think this is the way to go but will obviously have to paint the red in

i think the next thing for me is lower the car

i did try removing the door mouldings but i did not like the look i felt there was something missing the doors looked too big

  10. got me new 18" wheels fitted today on 225/40/18 tyres

i like the new look but now think she needs lowering

also in the middle of the spokes there is a shallow flute wich i am considering doing red

looking for opinions and lets all be honnest i wont cry much :'(

  11. Well been thinking about this for a while. The car as it stands has a forge TIP, Carbino and a full blueflame system. and rear anti role bar.

Now am I right in thinking that if I get it remapped the lack of an FMC while hold me back? and if so by how much?

Should i really get a fmc before I get it remapped?

If so I don’t really want to spend all that money on a forge one as they are quiet pricey, tho prob worth it for the complete ease of system (well if they were £200 cheaper ) etc but that’s a different discussion altogether.

Looking at peeps that have done the change to ebay systems and seams like quite a good route. But RobCulleys not written up a guide yet! so I’m a little stuck, (ps thanks for pimpmyskoda its very helpful)!

Looking on ebay are these two any good?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/98-04-FMIC-SKODA-OCTAVIA-1-8T-INTERCOOLER-KIT-/250616423047?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a59e72287

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SKODA-OCTAVIA-FABIA-FRONT-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER-KIT-/220569141361?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item335af20071

basically I’m a bit limited on options as have to do my work on the car on the street, so this "beading" i don’t think i could do.

How hard are they to fit if it just a case of taking off bumper and plugging bits together I would be fine with that and minor modifications, but bending pipes is beyond would I could do.

Then the the whole question of pipe size and whether u can get one that goes over the top like the one rob got?

Any way looking for pointer or links to what people think is best.

    Thanks

    hi

i have the top one fitted to my car it works well a pain in the a**e to fit but hey its a lot cheaper than the alternative

    this link may help

    linky

look at my signature i have pics with it fitted

  13. Yes non-resonated is a bit louder. I am going for a custom system from power-flow as you can tailor it exactly how you want i.e. tail pipe style, sound and bore diameter. Also have a few mates with these and the build quality and finish is superb. Having mine fitted this friday (09/04) so can let you know on sound etc if this is any good to you.

    hi all

i have a power-flow custom system when i went to them they were great they asked me what i wanted i said the louder the better they said they can do a wake the dead system so as you can guess thats what i went for

i am currently running a 200cpi cat and the exhaust has a non res straight through 5" silencer (may as well not be there) the quallity is pretty good and fits like a treat just wish i had gone for a twin outlet rarther than a single but to get to the point it is extremely loud you can hear me before you can see me it has been compared to a sound of a world rally car .

but loud is not always better you have to be carefull when the blue's and two's are about :giggle:

my mate has a non res miltec and side by side you cannot hear his car

  14. What would be best as im bit at a crossroads with this . Would it be best to swap it for the standard 'F' again or upgrade it , but i dont fancy the boost peaking at 4000rpm because now it runs round to the limiter .

The car has been stood most of its life before i brought it 2 years ago and just thought it mine be blocked or sticking due to it stood and having the 17705 problem .

    hi all

many thanks for all the help on this subject it seems to be a big issue for most of us

    these are my findings

1 standard valve works great through the revs but a slight hesitation (not much though and i can live with it) and hey we all want something better dont we so

2 after loads of research i decided to buy the J valve and this was great with instant boost but ran out at 4k (no good for me but i got no hesitation)

3 then i decide to buy the ECS race spec and to be honnest the boost was allover the place the car did not know what to do boost up boost down all the time (not impressed)

4 i then went out and got the n75 H genuine as this is supposed to be the same as the ECS but thought i would try it and yes i got the same as above (not impressed)

so currently i have after all this i am running the standard n75 F but i am going to do the n249 and n112 and sai removal to stop the ecu backing off the boost and then i will run the ECS race spec valve (the sticker looks good) and see how that goes hopefully a load better .

but for the time being the standard fit will have to do :(

many thanks again for all your input

  15. hi there

i'm thinking of doing this mod on mine as it gets rid of a load of useless s***e

everything seems straight foreward but the resistors will these ones do the job

    linky

or can you point me in the right direction for the correct ones cos i cannot find them anywhere, if i have read correctly 300 ohm ones

    cheers

  16. hi all

ya can add me to the list

sounds a good route and the food up there is sweet

i will probably have the little one with me VRS to be owner in about - lets see 20 years

hope the weather is gonna get better my car might actually be clean for longer than a day

it also gives me a chance to put faces to names :smirk:
