  1. Someone on another thread said that if there is equity left in your car at the end of the term, you've been paying too much for it and the finance company leave you to get your own money back. Arguably if the GFV is higher than the actual worth of the car, you're a winner because overall you've paid less than it's worth (especially on 0% finance).

I think if you are financing a car, get some PCP figures and some PCH figures and go for the cheaper one then save up your next deposit independently.

  2. If I'm honest I find this very hit and miss. I have transferred all of my albums from my iTunes library and regularly update it. Some come across and some don't. I've tried deleting the ones without and resending them but to no avail. Some on here use software and formatting before and seem to have good results but what puzzles me is I do the exact same with all my files and get varied results.

I don't know if this is still the case, but I have had problems in the past when iTunes stores the album art as a .png file rather than a .jpg. I always change mine in MP3Tag now (copy and paste the cover and it converts it) and I don't have any issues.

  3. The TV tuner is irrelevant to me also, BUT........as I ordered mine in February it had better have it when I do eventually get it, otherwise as a matter of principle I will reject the car!

There was a suggestion further up the thread that Skoda will honour the TV Tuner for cars ordered before May, so you might be okay. I'd suggest asking your dealer, but based on my experience you'll probably waste a phone call.

This link gives some info on MY17.

So if you want to know about Skoda updates, ask a Mazda dealer!!

  4. I asked the dealer and guess what? They had no idea, they didn't really know about any of the spec changes at all except that the TV Tuner was disappearing.

It made me chuckle when I saw they had a Pacific Blue L&K with the brown interior in the showroom. Solid blue and brown, I'd love to know who thought that was a good combination!    Also, the salesman was trying to tell me it was Petrol Blue, it didn't even look metallic.

Not the most productive visit to a dealer I've had...    :wall:

  5. Looks like the UK configurator has been updated with some new options:

Reversing camera forces you to add the rear wiper - £350

TV Tuner is now an option - £850

No mention of wireless charging on the phone box though, no new colours and the Amundsen is still listed as having a 5.8 inch screen.

The model page and brochure have not been updated yet.

Is it me, or does the removal of the tv tuner sound like a sneaky £850 price rise on the L&K?

  6. I go to a hand car wash and get inside and out spruced up for £10. I am lazy and I absolutely hate cleaning cars, so call me lazy all you want :) It's money well spent for me. I want it clean and looking nice, but I'm damned if it's going to be me doing it!

Been using them for quite a while, it's literally round the corner from my house, they do a great job of cleaning the entire car in and out and never had any damage from them. I can pay more every so often for a mini valet or full valet as needed, but taking the car to them every couple of weeks for £10 a pop keeps it all pretty decent.

I've seen people taking their Porshe, Ferrari and even a Lambo to them, so I figure if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me :)

I'm in Coventry (and lazy) too, where is this one?

    Skoda Octavia

This model is closest to the face lift, but which later this year will not live to see. Octavia with separated headlights for the first time we see only in 2017, and its premiere will take place during September's International Motor Show IAA in Frankfurt. However, in mid-2016. Octavia will be available with adaptive suspension (versions with engine power greater than 150 hp) and equipment of this model will be enhanced by wireless mobile phone charger.

Looks like the double-headlamp facelift might be for next year, but it might get adaptive suspension this year.

  8. Nope - it does not appear in the app list on the unit even when the online and offline versions are installed.  (with a LG G3 at least).

These apps may support Android auto.. but the units may not.

I have all the "useful" apps listed.

I'd hope that if an app supports Android Auto it'll work on any head unit that also supports Auto. If not, it makes the concept next to useless because you are then still at the mercy of the car manufacturer for which apps you can use. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if this is the case and if it is, we'll end up with lists of compatible smartphones, compatible o/s versions, compatible Android Auto version and compatible apps.

"Yes sir, you can use that app if you upgrade to the Columbus and have a Samsung S6 with Android 5.2 running Auto 2.1." :)

  9. I've just been checking out the new VW Tiguan and spotted that the 3 media systems (Composition/Discover/Discover Pro) all have the 8 inch screen. The Discover looks like it's the Composition with Sat Nav and the Discover Pro is a Discover with a 64GB SSD, voice control, a DVD drive and access to Google Earth. Both Discovers have access to online traffic, news and weather via a mobile (3 year subscription included). Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional on the Composition and standard on the Discover systems for the Tiguan. You can check out the details in the detailed specs here: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new/tiguan-nf/which-model-compare

What shocked me is that VW are charging £1,300 to upgrade from the Discover to the Discover Pro! I don't know if there are more differences than are noted in the brochure, but that's a lot of money for so few extras.

I'm hoping these new units will filter down to the 2017 model Octavia and Superb.

  10. Hi,

I have KESSY on my Octavia and yes, you'd be able to get in with the key. You would not be able to start the car though, because it would not be able to detect the key. There's no method to start it by physically using the key.

You will get plenty of notice of when the battery is starting to fail though. I've just had to replace mine, and I got warning messages on the dashboard and you'll find you'll be opening the car with the remote buttons before it stops allowing you to start the car. The trick is to replace the battery as soon as you can after the car starts warning you.

    Hope this helps.

  11. Thanks, the soft reset solved it. Will use that again no doubt as my stereo freezes occasionally as well.

I have had similar problems on my Columbus in my Octavia. It pays to keep a record and get a video of it if you can as it can act as evidence to persuade Skoda to update your firmware which can help. Not always though, I'm on my third Columbus in just over 2 years. :(
