  1. VW got caught. But most other brands emit far higher nox in real life driving. Hybrid battery production causes far more damage to the environment than any other car type. At the end of the day, if you drive you will cause pollution .

When the press get bored of VW bashing I'm sure they will move into another marque.

  2. Now has got to be the moment to buy an EA189 engine car..

Great cars. Confusion & panic stirred up by the press. I'm sure the opposition don't just emit Chanel or Rose Water.

Dealers will give top discount until the headless chickens get bored & move onto the next scandal 'Cars only get quoted MPG when driven by 7st driver wearing slippers shocker'

If there is a car tax penalty you can guarantee that VW group will more than make up for any owners losses.

EG if my RFL multiples 10X (still less than wife's SAAB petrol!) they are bound to compensate for this & future expense.

    Happy days

I bet VW engineers are all over the oppositions software at the moment trying to figure out how they bend the rules F1 style!

  3. Intresting subject, was talking to my local dealer yesterday after looking at the new Fabia and we were talking about ex skoda HQ cars.

He told me keep away from reg numbers starting with " F " Daily rental cars, " G " are long term rental ( lease cars ), " K " are Ex Managers cars, " M " cars that have been at Milton Keynes HQ, " O " Press cars or test cars ( Car Mags etc or for Clarkson to thrash round a circuit )

Think I've got them the right way round. He had a list on the PC with cars available on there system for sale within the whole group

  4. Yawn!! 58000 miles now. 1 DIY oil change & pollen filter in the last year. That's it. Still playing 'cambelt roulette' though, will follow the European model & get it done @ 7 years.

Blinking good car. Still on the original brakes, maybe I don't drive it as I should ;)

Every year I think I should change. But what for? I couldn't justify spending 15K + mine for a new one..

Edit - I did get the aircon recharged @£40, as it was a bit 'tired' icey cold now....

Battery changed last week @6.5 years (£55 EuroCarParts) & 65k miles now. No other problems at all. Still the most reliable car I've ever owned..

DIY service @ 60k, about £70 for the parts & a couple of hours cursing

I really should get the cambelt/waterpump done, waiting for Skoda (450) to drop to VW (350) which they are bound to soon...

  5. My July 2008 Octavia Vrs estate PD (silver) passed 50000 miles at the weekend. Aerial base changed at 12 months, Egr at 30000 miles. 2 sets of tyres. That's the sum total of non- service expenses. Pretty damned good in my book. I'd like to get a new one but cannot see the point !! The longest I've owned a car.

  6. The only way to be sure it is right for you is to take a proper test drive.

To be honest there are far nicer places to be than a city car on the motorway!

Bearable, but a bigger car is likely to be more quiet/comfortable & even my Octavia Vrs diesel will be as economical.

  7. Good day

I almost purchased a Citigo at the start of the year, but delayed & missed the 0% PCP finance offer.

Does anyone know of any dealers which still offer the 0% on a Citigo 5 door SE ?

The current Skoda deal runs until June, so if I cant get the 0% now I'll try to hang on to see what the next offer is.

The Citigo is my 1st choice if the offer is available, but if not I may pull the trigger on Hyundai i10!

Sorry I missed the ? at the end of the title...

  8. I'm sure you'll know this, but put yourself as a named driver on her policy. All legal and above board, she is main driver etc., you are just the named driver as you will need to move it, take to the petrol station! etc.

That reduces the insurance price considerably.

  9. Sorry I meant I was happy with the sunroof, but did not want the rear windows tinted. There was a new car in the Skoda system available to pick up in 2 weeks with the summer pack but I'll pass on that one.. Thanks anyway.

  10. Had a similar deal swapping the year old Citigo Elegance ASG 75 for a new Elegance Greentech 75 Manual with Style 2 and Convenience packages.

Would not have done the deal with normal finance but with the zero percent PCP  over three years it is a goer and releases capital from the original car.

Have been given a build week of week 12 and delivery in early April.

Always preferred the manual but bought ASG due to wife being disabled but she cannot now drive the ASG so took this opportunity to get the Manual Greentech.

Looked at other makes but in my opinion the Citigo is still the best.

    Mike.

    Hi there

Is the zero% deal still available or did you order before the end of last year please?

Im about to order a new Citigo which is in the Skoda system for 2 week delivery. But obviously would prefer the 0/%. I may just hang on until it comes around again...

The Up cost around 500 more but comes with free insurance & a few extra bits as standard

The Mii is interest free so I should really get that but being SEAT puts me off for some irrational reason.

So I should really hold out for the Skoda deal to return unless its still out there?!!

  11. May be a funny question!

I'm about to purchase a Citigo which has a sunroof, which comes with sunset glass.

Personally I do not want the sunset glass... is it possible to remove the 'film' ? On an old car I carefully removed the dark tinted aided with a hairdryer etc.
