  1. My Toledo Rapid clone is coming up for its 7th birthday and is sitting at 38k at the moment. VAG seemingly changed the rules on timing belt replacement intervals to 15 years. This seems quite high so I was curious if anyone had experienced any issues? Is there an easy way of getting a look at the timing belt without removing parts of the car? It's supposed to get checked as part of the service but I would like to check myself.
  2. Photo of the bulbs for reference
  3. I need to replace a couple of bulbs in the front interior lights of my Seat Toledo (Rapid clone). Does anyone know what size they are? The middle one is a festoon style but there's nothing on it to indicate size/type. The courtesy lights either side of it are smaller push in type and the only marking is a resistor with 270 written on it. Checked the manual but no help and the kits online want to give me a full set of LEDs whereas I only need two rather than 36!
  4. I'm case helpful in future, the part I ordered fitted fine. Quick but slightly fiddly job to replace. Only difference is this one has a white LED rather than SEAT red. Works first time so don't care about the colour. This isn't a genuine VAG part but it's a simple button. What I would say is the removal of the surround requires you to adjust the steering wheel to access two of the three screws meaning you could have an issue if the button was completely broken. Start button on Amazon
  5. Thanks. I couldn't find it in stock so have ordered what looks like the same button on Amazon. If it's not the right one I can always return it. For whatever reason few seem to list the part but assume the same button is used in the Polo and Fabia too.
  6. My Seat Toledo (Rapid clone) has a start button and it's beginning to get temperamental. I've tried looking up for replacements but can only find one for the Enyaq, Superb etc. It looks the same but not sure if it is. Anyone know or able to advise on the part number.
  7. My Seat Toledo (Rapid clone) is coming up for 5 years old so is due it's timing belt done. I've heard it requires a special tool so I'm inclined to get it done by a VAG garage rather than the local. Seat/VAG seem to offer two options: Timing belt Timing belt and water pump I've always done both at the same time but understand the 1.0tsi has the water pump run off a different belt on the other side of the engine. What have others done when replacing?
  8. I thought rollers. It just sounds like something could do with a bit of grease.
  9. Was replaced at no cost t me. Running perfectly again. Interestingly, when I picked up the guy explained what they'd done and said "checked the date on it" (the throttle valve) so I' wondering if there's a known issue?
  10. If in the UK (assume you're not if paying in Euros) you're covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Take it to the garage you bought it from and they have the right to one opportunity to repair (at their cost) otherwise you can request a full refund, which the garage obviously doesn't want. There may be similar legislation outside the UK too. I find the 1.0TSI plenty torque. Seems best between around 1250rpm and 2500rpm.
  11. Just giving an update in case anyone has a similar issue. Problem identified as the throttle valve so being replaced.
  12. Will see what they say tomorrow. The 1.2 is different to the 1.0 as far as I'm aware but could well be the battery. It's used on long runs so battery should be alright but it's likely the same battery since new so could need swapped.
  13. Battery was fine. It's off to the Seat garage to get checked but the guy doing the recovery reckoned it's the throttle body. Being checked tomorrow so will find out. I've been advised they'll cover part of the cost by default as it was only sold to me me 2.5 months ago. Previous VAG cars I've owned have been pretty bullet-proof to be fair but I'd be none to impressed with a failed turbo on a three year old car! Obviously I don't know how the previous owner treated it but it was regularly serviced and almost spotless. Approx 7k p/a so not too low miles but it could be the previous owner was doing a lot of short trips resulting in a clogged throttle...or it could be a snapped spring.
  14. It's out of warranty (was 3 years old in March) so hoping it's not needing a new turbo. It's only done 23,000 so if it's failed after that then I'd be tempted to fix and chuck the car if that's the quality of VAG cars.
  15. My 1.0TSI lit up like a Christmas tree tonight and then went into limp mode on the way home (very lumpy). It's displaying errors for the traction control, hill hold, start stop and tyre pressure, which seems highly unlikely. Has anyone else experienced this? Planning on getting it taken to a local VAG specialist but wondering if it's something easily resolved myself. Some have suggested a battery issue. I checked and it's reading as 12.6v.
