  1. I'm case helpful in future, the part I ordered fitted fine. Quick but slightly fiddly job to replace. Only difference is this one has a white LED rather than SEAT red. Works first time so don't care about the colour. This isn't a genuine VAG part but it's a simple button. What I would say is the removal of the surround requires you to adjust the steering wheel to access two of the three screws meaning you could have an issue if the button was completely broken. Start button on Amazon
  2. Thanks. I couldn't find it in stock so have ordered what looks like the same button on Amazon. If it's not the right one I can always return it. For whatever reason few seem to list the part but assume the same button is used in the Polo and Fabia too.
  3. My Seat Toledo (Rapid clone) has a start button and it's beginning to get temperamental. I've tried looking up for replacements but can only find one for the Enyaq, Superb etc. It looks the same but not sure if it is. Anyone know or able to advise on the part number.
  4. My Seat Toledo (Rapid clone) is coming up for 5 years old so is due it's timing belt done. I've heard it requires a special tool so I'm inclined to get it done by a VAG garage rather than the local. Seat/VAG seem to offer two options: Timing belt Timing belt and water pump I've always done both at the same time but understand the 1.0tsi has the water pump run off a different belt on the other side of the engine. What have others done when replacing?
  5. I thought rollers. It just sounds like something could do with a bit of grease.
  6. Was replaced at no cost t me. Running perfectly again. Interestingly, when I picked up the guy explained what they'd done and said "checked the date on it" (the throttle valve) so I' wondering if there's a known issue?
  7. If in the UK (assume you're not if paying in Euros) you're covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Take it to the garage you bought it from and they have the right to one opportunity to repair (at their cost) otherwise you can request a full refund, which the garage obviously doesn't want. There may be similar legislation outside the UK too. I find the 1.0TSI plenty torque. Seems best between around 1250rpm and 2500rpm.
  8. Just giving an update in case anyone has a similar issue. Problem identified as the throttle valve so being replaced.
  9. Will see what they say tomorrow. The 1.2 is different to the 1.0 as far as I'm aware but could well be the battery. It's used on long runs so battery should be alright but it's likely the same battery since new so could need swapped.
  10. Battery was fine. It's off to the Seat garage to get checked but the guy doing the recovery reckoned it's the throttle body. Being checked tomorrow so will find out. I've been advised they'll cover part of the cost by default as it was only sold to me me 2.5 months ago. Previous VAG cars I've owned have been pretty bullet-proof to be fair but I'd be none to impressed with a failed turbo on a three year old car! Obviously I don't know how the previous owner treated it but it was regularly serviced and almost spotless. Approx 7k p/a so not too low miles but it could be the previous owner was doing a lot of short trips resulting in a clogged throttle...or it could be a snapped spring.
  11. It's out of warranty (was 3 years old in March) so hoping it's not needing a new turbo. It's only done 23,000 so if it's failed after that then I'd be tempted to fix and chuck the car if that's the quality of VAG cars.
  12. My 1.0TSI lit up like a Christmas tree tonight and then went into limp mode on the way home (very lumpy). It's displaying errors for the traction control, hill hold, start stop and tyre pressure, which seems highly unlikely. Has anyone else experienced this? Planning on getting it taken to a local VAG specialist but wondering if it's something easily resolved myself. Some have suggested a battery issue. I checked and it's reading as 12.6v.
  13. Updated to advise I got the Toledo Xcellence. Fantastic car so far. The 1.0TSI is a great engine and the car itself is really comfortable. Cruises nicely and even the wife says she enjoys driving it. Fuel economy seems great for a petrol. Did you have to declare your remap on the insurance?
  14. So it is the mirror. Sitting in the passenger seat I can see the other end of the cable seems to go into the mirror.
  15. Thanks. May well be right. It doesn't look like whatever it was supposed to connect to is there so probably something like a dash cam. I'll pop it back into the headlining.
  16. So it's 3 pin holes not 2. Photo isn't the best. The way the cable is bent makes me think it's supposed to run down the pillar. It definitely wasn't pulled from there so it must have been tucked into the headlining and then it's dropped down. I could pull the trim off the pillar to see but I just got the car and knowing my luck I'd break something! I'll pop it back into the headlining but interested to know what it was meant for. Only thing I could think was the central light or something related to the mirror as suggested.
  17. Wife has the car but I'll get a pic later. It looks a bit like a PC jumper cable. Not aware of any sensor in the mirror but only got the car and sometimes optional extras aren't immediately obvious.
  18. After asking on here about the 1.0 Vs 1.2 I took the advice of one poster and began looking at the Toledo instead (sorry, Skoda!). Don't regret it at all. Got the top spec model and it drives very well. Today I got in and noticed a cable hanging down from the top of the windscreen on the passenger side. It's black with a a two pin female connector on it. I'm assuming it had been tucked into the headlining and fell out. I've popped it back but I'm interested to know what it is. Anyone know? Everything in the car work so I suspect it's for an optional extra the car doesn't have (heated windscreen?).
  19. Thanks all. Funny you should say that Robby as I've been looking at the Toledo (same one you have) due to the extra bells and whistles. Sadly, there are none locally so I'll have to wait it out or travel to Inverness! I'll see if I can test drive a 1.2 and 1.0 for comparison.
  20. Looking to go back to having a Skoda after a few years of Japanese and Korean cars. Currently looking at 3-4 year old Spacebacks and want a petrol engine as most of our journeys are short. Cars of this age are either the 1.2 or the 1.0, with the majority being the 1.0 due to a slight update in 2017. From what I've read there are differing views over which is better but it seems like people typically rate the older 1.2 more. Do actual drivers believe this to be true or is the view.more based on number crunching the engine specs? Also wondering about options. The vast majority in my area are SE Tech models. Almost none of the previous owners opted for the tinted rear windows. The only ones with tints appear to be the Sport model, which is like hens teeth around here. Is this the same UK wide (I'm in East Central Scotland) or is it people round here being tight on the add-ons?
  21. This happened with my Mk1 Fabia. No noise from the pump but the wipers moving. Tried the fuse but it was fine. Expecting an unwanted repair (you have to get the bumper off the Mk1) I asked my old man who came back with "stick a fan heater in the engine for a few minutes". Unbelievably this worked. Left it for 10 minutes blowing in that corner and the motor came back to life. Worth noting I left the car in the garage a night thinking this might fix it but it was still too cold. Only thing that got it was the heater. One thing I noticed was if I had the internal light on it would dim slightly when I pressed for the sprayers despite the motor not moving...this might just be my crap battery though!
  22. I had my tracking done and it still does the same. Just living with it. I'm going to be fitting new wheels to it shortly so will report back if it makes any difference. Checked the tyre pressures etc too. Going to sort the wiper tomorrow weather permitting!
  23. Hello all, 1st post so be kind. Just bought a 2000 Fabia 1.4 (16v). Few issues I've noticed over the past month 1. The rear sprayer doesn't work The sprayer appears clear and I can hear the pump so presume the tube has either detached or is kinked. Is there any detailed diagrams showing where the tube goes? 2. Bit of an odd one - Steering wheel re-centres slightly to the left. I had the tracking checked (a con, I know!) and I've checked the tyre pressures. Different tyre brands on the front but same size etc. Any ideas? There's no PAS light on and it went through the MOT and service without anything being spotted. Could the pump be nackered? I've got the "flickering" lights which may be down to what looks like a fairly old battery but could also be to do with the pump. It's an odd one as the car will go straight if positioned that way and I only noticed the wheel moving itself because I'm a lazy one-handed driver most of the time! 3. This one is really odd. The infamous Engine Management light. Came on so I got it checked. Fella said it was the oxygen sensor playing up but not to bother. He reset it, light came on a day later. Got a reader so just reset it when I felt like it. However, I've since noticed that with standard grade petrol (95 octane) it stays off yet with the "premium" (99 octane) it comes on the next day. Known quirk, or is it just the 99 chucks out more fumes? Absolutely no difference in the way the car performs. Still goes like you know what off a shovel.
