  1. Well, I've hit 100,000 miles and not without a few issues. Can anyone beat this for a poor reliability record:

    1. ABS warning harness failure (warranty)

    2. Turbo error (Turbo shim recall done)

    3. Turbo error (Turbo shim recall done incorrectly)

    4. Near side front wheel bearing failure (warranty)

    5. HT Lead failure (HT Leads changed to upgraded design under recall)

    6. HT Leads melted to manifold (incorrectly fitted recall work)

    7. Drivers seat trim worked loose (warranty)

    8. Respray of side sills due to paint chipping (recall)

    9. Drivers door hinge worked loose (warranty)

    10. Bulb blown warning error despite bulb ok (warranty)

    11. Off side front wheel bearing failure (warranty)

    12. Brake pad wear plug broken (dealer servicing error)

    13. Near side drop bar link failure (warranty)

    14. Warped brake discs (due to length of time dealer failed to diagnose broken wheel bearing)

    15. Respray of rear boot due to pain blistering (warranty)

    16. Head light levellers moving of own accord (never been fixed!)

    17. Timing chain failure (warranty)

    18. Throttle air intake clogged

    19. Near side front brake calipers worn loose (independent warranty)

    20. Off side front brake calipers worn loose (independent warranty)

    21. Horn failed (independent warranty)

At least the car has been cheap on consumables: Only half way through the second set of brake pads &discs and just about to get my third set of tyres.

This will, however, be a very expensive car to own out of warranty.

Wish me luck for the next 100,000 miles!!

Mine wasn't quite as bad as yours, in 94000 miles I think I had almost all the known teething problems.

    Oil leak

    Number 3 ht lead

seat belt receiver cracked [driver side]

    cam chain destroyed engine

DSG clutch problem - plate replaced

    All sorted under warranty.

Seat belt holder then failed again

2 or 3 sensors failed then the no 3 lead went again,  this was sorted by the dealer but just after i picked it up popped into a shop and it refused to start. The RAC said it was probably a fuel pump on its way out but it would work intermittently.

I took it back to the dealer who found that the Turbo was leaking and they needed to fix that before they could even say for sure about the fuel pump.

To be fair to the dealer White Dove in Cardiff they got me a goodwill gesture from Skoda and a contribution from themselves. I decided to cut my losses and bought a 1 yr old Fabia diesel from them as I had a good part ex. allowance. Can't fault the dealer in all this and I also got to test drive plenty of courtesy cars which is why I ended up with the Fabia. I wont get another 1.2 tsi though as I don't trust them.

  2. I have had a problem with my new Motorola Razr i loosing its bluetooth connection, had no problems with my HTC it's apparently a fault with Android 4.2. I have cured it by going into settings- apps - all apps and going to bluetooth sharing and pressing force stop. This works for me except that you need to do this every time you restart your phone. It's not really a problem as I have only had to do this once. I found this fix by searching the problem on the web, just type in bluetooth issues with android Ice Cream Sandwich or ICS. There is a new update out now called Kit Kat (Google have a sweet tooth) which has hopefully fixed this. The Moto G is running Kit Kat so should hopefully be ok.

    Hope this helps

  3. I've done over 70,000 miles in my 1.2 and the only problems I've had are a misfire on the no 3 HT lead and a cam chain tensioner problem which needed a rebuild but was covered under warranty. To be fair my engine is one of the early ones and these things have been rectified on later engines other than that no problems at all, in fact when I get my next car it will most likely be another 1.2 Yeti

  4. I had both timing chain and dsg problems. The dsg used to shudder when changing from 2nd to 3rd only randomly however usually when it had been driven round the city a bit and was warm, this was hard for the garage to diagnose. The timing chain used to rattle noticeably on start up for a minute or so then quieten down a bit as the engine warmed up. Timing chain eventually failed just before the warranty ended luckily as it needed a rebuild after. They did the dsg at the same time. Funnily enough before the rebuild I used to use oil but since I haven't had to top up in 11000 miles and my mpg is a bit better. My advice get the timing chain checked asap

  5. I took my car back from the dealer, and they told me that they have updated the dsg software and turbo software (as there was newer version, still do not know what has changed)

my first impression is the judder is mostly gone, a few times, I felt a little shake ond 2nd gear, mut its definetely much better.

I will check and try to find if the problem persists.

the dealer also said that, if the judder is still there, they will change some parts. if its in time period of warranty period, they will do it for free, if its not, they will charge only %20 of the costs according to happy customer policy (meaning that this is a known problem caused by manufacturing)

if any news, I will keep you informed

My dealer told me there wasn't DSG software as such just a general software package, also as you have identified the fault within the warranty period then it should be covered under the warranty, if they say no threaten Trading Standards and keep all the workshop receipts.

  6. Mine was sounding rough on start up, turned out to be the camchain tensioner, I also have the early version of the engine and had to have the engine rebuilt - about £4000 of work luckily mine was in warranty. I believe there is a known issue with early camchain tensioners. Since the rebuild my oil consumption is better and my mpg has improved as well

  7. I had exactly the same problem with the number 3 HT lead, although mine was intermittent at first. I also had a judder with my DSG when changing to 2nd gear, cured by having a new clutch fitted. To top it all the cam-chain slipped and I needed a total engine rebuild at 55000 miles I have a 2010 model and I think the more recent engines are ok. I still trust the beast though and now the fuel consumption is 2-3 mpg better too.

  8. I've been using Black Pigeon in Cardiff and I've found their service staff are brilliant. Sorting out courtesy cars if needed they even did a full valet for me as they forgot to clean the car after a service. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

  9. My car was in for it's 40000 mile service yesterday and they told me about the badge recall and also said there was a software update due as well, not for anything specific just a few tweeks apparently.

  10. Funnily enough my 1.2 dsg does the same thing, getting it investigated by the dealer when I have a service in the next month, it feels like the sort of judder you get wheel spinning a fwd car. It only occurs between 1st and 2nd and then only at low revs as you use creeping off from lights etc.

  11. If it's White Dove on Hadfield Road when I had mine from there the sales side were really poor at keeping me updated but that was 18 months ago so the sales staff have probably changed. The Service department are however brilliant. I had a few problems with my HT leads and Plugs and they were very helpful, my colleague has an old Seat and she took her car in with a fault never having been there before and they checked out the car after keeping it overnight and because they couldn't find a fault didn't charge her. The wait for the Yeti is well worth it and I think we all went through the same things while waiting, at least I did, 12 weeks or so of reading brochures, road tests etc. punishment.

  12. Used them once and the Skoda Assist part was very good, there was a couple of hour wait for the RAC as it was a bank holiday weekend but Skoda/VW kept ringing to check everything was ok. As it was the car had to be trailered home over the bank holiday and then picked up from home and taken to the dealers on the Tuesday. All I had to do was ring them when I had contacted a dealer to see if they could take it and they arranged pick up and someone sorted out a hire car for me as well. I ended up having a Focus for a week whilst the dealer ordered in a new spark plug. All in all I had a good service from them.

  13. My dealer did this too.

The deal we agreed on was with a guess at what the trade-in would be worth when the Octavia arrived.

He stated that that figure would be the minimum we would recieve and that it would be reviewed when the Octavia had been built.

It meant we got a pessimistic trade-in figure when we agreed the numbers but we knew that was a worst case scenario.

I had always planned to sell privately anyway and that's what I did in the end so it was all academic anyway but still....

To the original poster- I see you are in Edinburgh- what dealer are you using? I used Chathams in Dunfermline and have nothing but praise for them- it seems Chathams in Edinburgh are no-where near as good. And if it's Arnold Clark you're using then I'm not surprised!

To be honest, the dealer knows he can sell that Yeti on in a heartbeat so you have zero gravity behind your threats of walking away from the deal- he will be quite happy for you to do that. :(

The Part Ex I got for mine was actually about book and was competitive with the quote I had from We Buy Anycar.

  14. No, in reality I'm not all that bothered, bs. It's lovely to drive and we like it very much - and it's as safe as they get in that size of car. It'll probably loosen up a bit and might get a bit better, but my Jazz CVT didn't do loads to the gallon and that was a good bit smaller than this thing....and I even bought a little Hyundai i10 (just so I could use the scrappage scheme, really) and that didn't do anything like what it was supposed to either - so I've obviously got either (a) no idea how to drive or (b)a heavy right foot or © don't do enough long motorway journeys at 56mph.

I have pretty much the same fuel consumption as yours at 33 mpg pretty much from new. Like you I'm not too bothered about it as I love the engine /gearbox combination and the look on peoples faces when you tell them it is a 1.2. I put it down to all the hills on the other side of the Bristol Channel in South Wales, pretty much like the West Country.
