And where the garage is.
Overheads are likely to be higher at a city dealership than one out in a small rural town.
Cardiff,

I paid £194 for a variable service on a 1.2 DSG I assume it would vary depending on engine type and capacity.

Just heard from the garage they found a cracked plug and are ordering a new plug and HT lead, they also said they would continue with the diagnostics. Hopefully have my car back on Tuesday

Any update on the fault?.
On Wheeler Dealers last night they had a misfire on no1 cylinder on the Saab 9-3 they were renovating, turned out to be a duff ignition coil.
Car is with the dealer but not booked to be looked at until thursday or friday, currently driving a focus.

Now Now!! Watch it!! Some of us "down ere" might take offence to that . Nowt wrong with our air .

They're not Bosch are they by any chance? I've had Duff ones in the past.
NGK's seem to be the plug of choice for older BMW's.
Said NGK and VW on the plug body nothing else no numbers etc. makes it kind of difficult to find a replacement unless you are psychic or have the Skoda parts list.

Sounds like the 1.2 TSI strikes again. Same thing happened with my Occy 1.2 TSI Auto. Happened twice (first time in Cornwall, on holidays from Ireland. Big thanks to the guys in Skoda Plymouth). After the second time, brought it back to my dealer and told them to keep it. Now driving Yeti 2l Diesel. Seems there may be a problem with the little TSI.
Funnily enough got back from Devon the day before do you think there's something in the air down there? think the problem may just be duff plugs as the RAC guy had a good spark from the plug cap.

On the way back from a local seaside resort on Saturday I had a load of warning lights appear on the dashboard, Epc, esp, tyre pressure monitor and the engine light along with a warning about needing a workshop. Called Skoda assist (RAC) who sent someone out to have a look, it took 2 hrs for someone to arrive apparently there was only 1 patrol for Cardiff and Bridgend. THe patrol diagnosed a misfire on no1 cylinder but couldn't fix it so an hour or so later was recovered home on a flatbed. Seems like it could have been a duff set of plugs but I will have to wait until tuesday when the car can be taken to the dealers for investigation. Fair play to Skoda Assist they kept checking up on me and even arranged a free hire car over the phone. :'( :'( :'(

Whilst on holidays down Devon I saw a White 60 reg diesel 4x4 at the Tesco filling station in Teignmouth on Good Friday evening and a dark blue Yeti heading south on the M5 on our way home this morning. Still a rare breed down south by the look of it. On the way down a Discovery driver came over to us at the services and complimented us on our choice of car, he said he had test driven one and understood now why Yeti owners are always smiling - praise indeed.

I always like a cunning plan, doesn't everyone?
To be honest the spray masks the problem and is not really the answer. It may help but do you really want to spend the rest of your life spraying a car floor mat or seat? If people want to ignore our advice about clothing then how about changing their car mats? Do their feet shuffle on acrylic mats? Get a bit of pure wool carpet and try that for a bit, it is a process of elimination.
We only supply the spray in industrial quantities but there are companies out there that supply it in 1 litre bottles or smaller, and that could be worth a try for those who want to. Google it, or a company I know that does supply it are www.bondline.co.uk Look under sprays, Killstat is the brand name. This is not my company, I have no links to them and if a moderator is not happy with this post then feel free to delete it. I am just trying to help.
Could try rubber mats on the inside and following on logicically seat covers, just came to me reading this, sort of a eureka moment.

Put about 4.5 litres of oil in mine over 20000 miles, I spoke to the dealer who located a slight oil leak which they repaired but it still used oil afterwards. Just had it's first service and after 1000 miles doesn't seem to have used any yet fingers crossed. For the record the car does get the odd revving and was run in as per the recommendations.

Another thing I noticed with the DSG in the 1.2 is that quite often you can "short shift" by just taking your foot off the accelerator for a second. Might be old hat to the more experienced auto users but being my first auto I think it's a really useful way of overriding the gearbox.

Holiday traffic?
Looked like only one person on board so he must have had a load of luggage unless his weekly shop is for the whole street.

Spotted 2 lately, the first a silver yeti heading on the M4 past Pencoed on Friday at about 5 ish in the evening then a Muscovado one with a roofbox on the M4 between Newport and Cardiff this morning about 8.50.

I have had the 1.2 DSG for almost a year and driven 21000 miles on it, I agree with the hesitancy when accelerating after slowing down or when you are pootling along in high gear at low speeds and want to speed up, it's as if the box has settled into a lazy mode and just needs to wake up again. You get used to it and it is only really noticeable if you want to accelerate smartly. It's nothing to worry about and you soon get used to it. Most of the time the gearbox is so smooth you hardly notice it and I rarely even bother to use the manual mode.
Hope this helps

Noticed when skimming through What Car in the supermarket that they have a Yeti 1.2 Elegance on their test fleet. Looks like it's been with them since January according to their web site. Here's the link

Just wondering how the Nokian eNTYREs were doing, thinking about getting some next time I change my tyres.

I was down my dealer the other day and they told me that they are selling used Yetis for almost the same price as new ones due to the waiting lists for them. They also told me that they were selling them as far afield as Scotland.

Saw a Blue 60 reg 1.2 on the M4 between Pencoed and Llantrisant on Friday 25/3 followed him for a while before turning off, strange seeing 2 blue yetis one behind the other.

here i am, in 8000 miles mine has been back to the dealer with the oil light flashing empty!!...it has been refilled 3 times!!!!...car was driven as per manual to bed in and isnt the only new car/bike ive had and non did this, told dealer i arnt happy at all and have threatened to drive said yeti thru there showroom window.....id imagine dipstick is low again, and i aint checking it!!! if it fails its there problem as ive expressed my concerns from new!!!
Kawasaki's were oil users even from new.
-
You mean 20000 miles!!! I hope!!
OOps 1 nought too many :S
-
4_5 litres .Surely thats not normal for a modern engine.
Thats an oil change without changing the oil.
Did have an oil leak but it is still using oil, remember a Kawasaki GPZ550 motorbike I used to have and that used about a litre of oil between 3000 mile oil changes.
-
Normally used to putting little or no oil in my previous cars up to 10000 miles.
My 1.2 Tsi DSG has had 650ml in about 3700 miles which equals about 5600 miles/litre
of Castrol Edge 5-30w fully synthetic.
This seems on the high side...what are you all getting??.
Should I refer it to dealer..does it useage diminish when it is fully run in (now onwards)??
Car is driven conservatively with no excessive acceleration with a mix of 10/20 and 70/100 mile trips.
I got the same 4-5 litres in 200000 miles
-
i actually live in a very hilly area ..1000ft above sea level....so that puts that theory to bed lol, ive always had good mpg,1.2 manual..and no i dont drive like a saint, far from it...had quite a few rumbles with gti's etc..the 1.2 really is a wolf in sheeps clothing ....on a negative note, my oil comsumption is worse than my mpg lmao
I've put about 4-5 litres of oil in mine too, the hills I'm referring to are steepish ones with low speed, stop start motoring and hill starts. Took my car for a blast over towards the beacons and some of the roads round there lend themselves to fast driving and got 37 mpg but once I got home again that soon dropped to 33 ish. Like Retro Gal, I seem to be getting an average of 33.5 mpg per tank full.
What did you pay for 1st service ?

But I work in Cardiff about 1 mile from the dealer so I can get it done in work time.
