  1. I prefer the aero covers on as will be easier to clean with sponge! I think for the facelift, I feel as though I can just jump in the car and get going without having to wait for the entertainment system to reset, boot up and then switch off various settings because your preferences wouldn't be retained as in the pre-facelift. In the facelift a few button presses and I am good to go. Thank god the sound generator thing has gone because I would always select economy previously to get it switched off - now I just drive in normal mode and life is good and quiet with some sporty noises from the exhaust. Wireless charging and Apple CarPlay is fab - just put your phone down and it will charge, sync etc etc. and it doesn't need to be positioned in an exact sweet spot. I have Canton - difficult to tell the improvement over the stock system, must be better but bass doesn't shake the car or anything - probably more clear with additional speakers - would I get it again? probably. I also got a sunroof - not getting much action right now but really like it in spring/summer so glad I got it. Winter pack is great - obvs using it right now for heated screen and steering wheel. Infotainment system works very well and has had a significant improvement from previous version - responsive and screen a lot bigger. This is my 5th vRS estate and do miss the LED strips in the rear doors - I know this has gone for a wee while but just looks cheap and naff with the front doors having LED strips and then it just goes pitch black on the rear doors - am sure the bean counters could have afforded this in a £40k car. Can't think what else could be better but this is about it - so can't be all bad. No regrets about buying another vRS estate as I get no hassle from the dealer when buying new or servicing and Octavia's have not given me any grief over the years. Glad I bought this and not a Golf GTI - see ya VW!
  2. After having the facelift for nearly two months now, the best way to describe the improvements from pre to post facelift is that all aspects of the car are more refined/fine tuned. I am not saying that the pre facelift was bad but it feels like Skoda has looked at the weaker points and tried to correct them. Best way to compare is when Apple released S versions of their iPhones e.g. iPhone 6 to iPhone 6S - the 6S was just a better all rounder and consumer experience (hardware and software was more in sync and refined)! Hope this makes sense.
  3. Not best picture but collecting tomorrow.
  4. Could have been tempted with yellow if it was available in UK. Meanwhile my hyper green order is currently sitting in Germany waiting for a boat.
  5. I’ve no stats to back this up, but my anecdotal evidence suggests that Scots buy Skoda cars in good numbers as they realise that they are fundamentally tried and tested VW/Audi cars under the skin. I see Mk4s driving about but still see plenty earlier Octavia versions on the road - if it ain’t broke, hang on to it. I might be unusual being a private buyer who changes their Octavia every 4 years. Circumstances might change in the future and I will hang onto my car longer. I think the 1980s Škoda joke has now passed and anyone who still has badge snobbery is missing out. The worst customer service I have had is from VW dealers and my least reliable cars have been Polos. Never had issues with Škoda dealers or cars which is why I go back.
  6. Hyper green vRS built and enroute to Blighty. Pics to follow in due course.
  7. Re 360 area view - strange how different markets get access to different factory colours and options.
  8. Your car has an estimated build week of week 42, week commencing October 14th.
  9. Velvet red was my second choice but going to take a risk with hyper green. Did you get a good deal in the end?
  10. Order accepted by factory and awaiting build week.
  11. Have ordered hyper green vRS estate. Dealer sent these pics in meantime.
  12. Unknown as order books just opened and are seeing if they can change one of the Octavia orders they have already placed to speed things up. In no rush as can still use my 245 estate meantime.
  13. Further £300 discount and £500 extra for trade-in so order placed.
  14. My thinking is not quite ready to jump into an EV and with a low annual mileage economy is not a major consideration. Currently got the sunroof and winter pack in my vRS which are awesome and are frequently used so don't want to be giving this up. Could hang onto my car for longer but got to treat myself now and again! Likely be my last ICE car for the next few years. Just got to presuade Mrs Baracus now, who will help pay for it...
  15. Local dealer priced up hyper green vRS estate with sunroof, winter pack, canton and spare wheel. £4,250 deposit contribution (includes £750 exiting PCP customer contribution) plus £2,000 discount. OK deal but have asked for wee bit more. If I am going to pay the luxury car tax may as well get the car how I want it. Will see what happens.
  16. Meh, redesigned bumpers, faster USB charging and wee power boost for VRS. Will probably end up ordering one in 2024 haha.
  17. Hope friendly forum members can help with my request. For health reasons, I've not been able to drive my vrs for the last five months. All being well, I should be behind the wheel again end October. Car has been garaged since easter and not moved an inch. As expected the battery has gone flat and I cannot open the car via keyless technology! In simple terms, how do I (a) get into the car and (b) recharge the battery. Happy to buy a battery charger from Amazon if someone can direct me to the right make/model. Great if someone can give me the a wee steer and what steps I need to take. Obviously I have been focusing on improving my health over the summer. Thanks in advance.
  18. Agree styling of lights weren't best looking but they performed flawlessly along with rest of car - and that's what matters to me. Cheers.
  19. Goodby old VRS, hello new VRS - first impressions, brilliant - a big step up!
  20. Ordered moon white 245 manual estate 14 June 2021 - with panoramic roof and front winter pack. Picking up 31 January 2022. Told new vrs orders is 13 month wait. Pics to follow...

  22. I understand the delays to new car production and challenges facing the sector - what I find really strange is the lack of any narrative or analysis by the motoring journals - AutoExpress and WhatCar. You'd never know there was a major manufacturing problem reading these publications. Just proves they are more about printing glossy adverts for the manufacturers and drumming up future trade.
