  2. Can anyone give me a link to a guide for carrying out this repair, please? Any special tools required?
  3. My 2013 Elegance had a drawer under the passenger seat but ( as above ) my 2017 SE L Drive has the umbrella instead. Please let us know what the outcome is, for such a small cost the repairer ought to just supply and fit the drawer to satisfy his customer.
  4. October update:- brimming tank method 535 miles @ 43.46 mpg. More satisfied.
  5. Update:- fuel consumption on "new" 2017 Yeti 1.2Tsi has been 42.27 mpg over nearly 400 miles , 200 miles of which were 70mph motorway. Brimming tank method, not MaxiDot which was a similar read-out. Satisfied.
  6. Graham, I've always appreciated your advice and expertise on Briskoda and wondered if you're posting anywhere about your Niro. Our son has just taken delivery of an E-Niro and we came close to a plug-in Niro before staying "safe" with a 2017 Yeti.

      Hi.

      There was a thread I posted a few comments on but can't find it now. Also still posting on the other Forum more now. Seems to be too many idiots here lately.

      We started looking in Jan/Feb following a £600 bill for a N0x sensor on the Yeti, and then everything went wrong,. Originally were looking at a second hand model but found they weren't Approved for towing and the dealer tried to get us an ex-demo model but couldn't. Went onto one of the internet dealers to get a price, then went back to the dealer with it. He couldn't quite match it but was willing to add a tow bar, so we ordered. Then we got lock down!

      Went for the self-charging as we don't have a drive or garage so can't have a charging point. If we could I would have gone for the plug-in.

      Was dues to collect in June but the dealer suggested we wait until the beginning of July, then got delayed by a day when the tow bar was delivered late. So collected on the 2nd of July and they threw in a set of rubber mats as well.

      Did a thousand miles in the first month as we wanted to tow the caravan down to Cornwall to see our grand daughter.

      Build quality seems as good as the Yeti and it is just as comfortable on long journeys. It's slightly bigger and has a bigger boot and better rear leg room. And it is very quiet. We went for the base 2 model as that comes on 16" tyres. Handling is more than adequate. It has all the toys I need, including auto lights and wipers, reversing camera, and intelligent cruise control; that worrying the first time you use it.

      Around here is never going to be good for fuel consumption, but I'm easily getting 50 mpg. When we went down to Cornwall with the van we got 30mpg, which was in line with what I expected. We are going down again at the month, without the van this time, so it will be interesting to see what we get then.

      Audio system is OK but I miss the Yeti's SD card system. This has a USB socket and I use a memory stick, but I can't seem to get it to do albums, so it plays all the track 1s, then tracks 2, etc. At least you get some variety. It also comes with Android Auto but I still haven't worked out how to use that yet! And if you think the Yeti handbook is confusing don't look at a Kia one!!

      Can now see why everyone raves about DSG. Got used to it very quickly and it is so easy. Tried Sport mode just for fun and it can certainly shift if you want it to. And the regenerative braking is great fun.

       

      Cons:

      Headlights are crap!! I know I was used to HID's on the Yeti but I've already bought a new set of bulbs to fit and will be looking at LEDs later.

      Miss the active headlights bending around corners 
      Kia forums are rubbish!! And the 2 FB groups aren't much better.
      Lane Keeping Assist, might be great if you use motorways a lot but it can't cope with single track roads and you have to switch it off everytime you start the car.
      Stupid bing bong sounds as it goes through it's self test mode before you can drive off, again can't be turned off.

      Overall very happy with our choice.
      And I've already been off-roading through the forest as I'm currently doing a contract with Natural Resources Wales doing inspections of quarries and mines.

  7. I'm glad it's not only me that notices oil temperature. My 2013 Yeti 1.2 Tsi ran at around 90 degrees once warmed up BUT my new 2017 Yeti 1.2 CYVB runs at 100 degrees.

  9. On my Yeti with the CYVB petrol 1.2 engine, this sensor on the air inlet trunking ( is it the MAF sensor? ) appears to have its plastic cover missing. Anyone with a CYVB engine on Yeti or other model able to comment, please?

  11. Expatman, I couldn't find any used Yetis with the electric driver's seat or anyone who knew if I could swap it from the old car . We find it so useful when doing a driver swap in a lay-by when on a long journey.

  14. Some will have read my "quandary" post about how to replace my much loved and appreciated 2013 petrol 1.2 Elegance. Because none of the current plug-in hybrids meet all our requirements we opted to look for one of the last Yetis with DSG automatic, this time. There were a few around earlier this month so we got to choose the colour we wanted. The SE L Drive is a similar specification to the Elegance with such things as leather etc. The improvements in specification over the Elegance include DAB radio, Sat-nav, front parking sensors, device connectivity etc. It also has a "drivers door open" alarm beep. One thing I can't seem to activate through the MaxiDot is the "chirp" from the alarm when locking or unlocking - any ideas? The 2013 has the chain-driven CBZ engine and the 2017 has the CYVB engine - are the camshafts belt driven on this one ? I was getting around 40 - 41 mpg overall on the 2013 (with a K & N air filter the only non-standard part ) which I worked out by brimming the petrol tank and regularly calculating to compare with the MaxiDot which was quite similar. The new one is showing around 44 mpg on the MaxiDot but I haven't done enough mileage to check on the "brimming " method but Škoda claim a 3 mpg improvement over the CBZ engine. And the V.E.D. ( Road Tax ) is marginally cheaper. The old one had Michelin CrossClimate tyres which I am delighted with as posted elsewhere and the new one has Nexen N Fera RU1 suv tyres, I didn't know Škoda fitted Nexen as original equipment. The Nexens seem a bit noisier than the CrossClimates which I will fit as the Nexens wear out. One thing the 2017 hasn't got is the electric, memory driver's seat which the old one has and I haven't found anyone who knows if the new one can have one fitted. Oh! and before someone comes on and tells me that the build quality was better on pre-facelift Yeti, I needed to replace the old one as it had 111,000 miles on it and we also wanted an automatic. So far nothing seems cheaper on it. Telling me that the build quality was better on the pre-facelift would be like the removal man who said that our new house wasn't any bigger than our old one. I've put the old one on Briskoda Classifieds as one ought not to have two Yetis. Ought one?
  15. I have CrossClimates on my 2013 Yeti which have covered over 50,000 miles and still have 4 - 5mm left. Oh! and they are quiet and grip well in low temperatures and snow.
