So that's where the Insignia interior idea came from.
No, the Idea for the Insignificant comes from people at Vauxhall sitting down and realising they have less than no money and seeing if it's possible to take some lardy BUICK and sell it here. Typical GM rebadged tat, supposed to be more "Classy" than a Vectra, but then the Omega was supposed to be "Classy", and as we all know the Omega was as classy as an essex girl soiling herself while struggling to hold onto her barcardi breezer
*Vauxhall rant over*
It's tat like the insignia that really makes me like that Honda

Is it not based on the Punto
The Mito is based on the Grande Punto and Vauxhall Corsa, I like it very much
I personally wouldnt have an i20, I had a Getz. Hyundai will be quick to tell you that the new i20/i30 are revolutionary cars for them that have really brought them into the league with european marques, but then they also said that about the Getz, which you only need to look at (and drive) to realise it was an epic fail
Any savings you make on list price will quickly be offset by depriciation. So if you really want an i20, then hold out for a 3 year old used example for £2.50 with a free bag of crisps

it's absolutely whisper quiet-you can only really hear the engine when you boot it and even then it's not at all harsh.
Time will tell if I made the right choice, but for now I'm a happy bunny! (in case you hadn't noticed!)
It has a microphone in the interior that listens for wind and road noise and then plays opposing frequencies through the audio system to cancel out noise:eek:
Cant wait for your pics, something happens in my pants when I see this Honda. It's the only car I think they do that isnt for gerriatrics and chavs

Id give my eyes to have one of those. Saw one once in a Morrisons car park and loved it ever since. Hope it's got the rear reversing camera, it's nearly 5 meters long:eek:
Beautiful pecie of machinery IMHO, subtley but beautifully styled. unusually for a fat Honda it seems to hold on to it's value so my chances of getting one are nil right now.
I'd have to consider a new superb very carefully alongside one of those, are they are all 3.5V6 VTECS?

I used to drive vans on a regular basis. Mercedes Vito 118 even without a load is very difficult to get moving quickly, reckon it took in the region of 30 seconds to reach 60:rofl:. You just have to anticipate the slowness and adapt your driving style to suit, however it is nice once up and running on the motorway if you can keep your speed. Lane hogs e.tc become very frustrating as you have to spend so long building speed back up
Does anyone remember the accelerator pedals on the old school transit, cant rememer quite what they did, think they folded in (or out) when you reached the stop?

Speaking as some one who has had a second biopsey for cancer , I am amazed at some of the crass comments posted on here with regard to fellow human being dying of cancer, remember it could be you one day then you can have a good laugh at your self.
No one is laughing at her illness or her cancer, no one deserves cancer, it's a nasty ilness that has lost my family some good friends. The title of this thread is "Fed up of Jade Goody" because some people are sick and tired of the way the media is handling this
Such drivel that was on the front of the papers this morining was "The Angels are calling for mummy" and "She Nearly Didnt make it Through the Night"
I wouldnt like to be critical towards Goody, but she is whoring herself out to all these papers for every penny she can get, which is for "her children". If it were me, i'd rather my mum died with dignity rather than whoring herself out for every last penny right to the end IMHO

hi folks, my fabia is giving me a few problems at the moment so i've been thinking about buying a lupo tdi... £35 per year road tax:)
any views or opinions welcome
If your thinking along the lines of the Lupo/Arosa, don't forget about the Audi A2,
Same £35 a year to tax on the TDI, very high quality materials, though dont expect it to ride smoothly, they ride as rough as a badgers a-hole, however they go round corners like go-karts
I think they are rather attractive too, though that seems to be a strongly divided opinion. Will be more expensive to insure because it's made of Aluminium, and some companies wont insure them at all. Early Y plate cars with FSH can be picked up for 3-4k now
lol, see you bought one anyways but if anyone else is looking along these lines......

I just thought i'd share pictures of my cat Billy, he's around 16 years old so he doesent bring stuff into the house anymore. He has been morbidly obese ever since he was a kitten, but I think this is why he has lived so long:thumbup:
Fat, Lazy and Sleeps for like 20 hours a day. I'd definatley swap places:D

Sick of professional drivers driving like idiots.
I now report them to their bosses. And yes, some have included national Express buses being driven quite shockingly.
One idiot that cut me up recently, was undertaking, tail gating, flashing lights to get others to move had a shock when I reported him. His van has a black box to record throttle motions, G forces etc etc and had already texted his boss whilst I was ringing him to report the driver.
Bets are he doesnt work for them any longer.
Not to try and change the topic, but I was driving at 70MPH on the A505 between Hitchin. To my absolute disbeleif a national express coach overtook me (Steep uphill!!) at about 85/90MPH. Are these things not limited:eek:
There was a "how am i driving sticker" but I didnt bother, there wasnt much traffic but driving a vehicle of that size at that speed:eek:

I've seen this advertised on TV the last couple of days and was intrigued.
Plugged in my cars details (07 plate VRS, 12k) and got emailed a valuation of £7750 - not bad considering I only paid £550 more for it back in November.
No doubt the haggle process when you turn up and they slash the price due to a tiny stone chip or a scraped alloy is an interesting process
They offered £8,400 for my 07 TDI Elegance PD105 DSG Estate with 20k on the clock, how could that be worth more than a vRS, do these people just make these numbers up to draw you in?

I dont think any of the Skodas have a great suspension setup, i find the Golf MK5 rides and handles much nicer than the Octavia. The Fabia II I have with 16" crashes about everywhere, but it does handle okay
I have seen in reviews that Skoda's suspensions are set the way they are so they can be used on rougher Czeck roads

Theres a Horsey Windpump around the Norfolk Broads IIRC, always makes me chuckle
It's not a funny name, but there is a Village called Ireland in Bedfordshire, always funny when my mum calls me and I tell her im in Irelend

What's the best small van/ estate for this price?
My mate has just opened a kite surfing business and needs something to kart his gear around.
He looked at an Escort 1.8 TDI van but it was on ebay and I advised against buying a banger without seeing it first.
Reckon a VAG 1.9 lump is in his price range?
He doesnt care about performance just needs decent room and reliability.
Could prolly get an old school passat with a 1.9TDI for £1200

I don't think I'll use any HDD apart from Western Digital again, never had a single one of them fail for me, including one thats over 10 years old. Can't say Iv'e ever had any problems with Maxtor either, but these problems seem to occur on particular models/batches
On the other hand, I recently bough two Samsung drives, and what a mistake that was. One 250GB had an electrical failure twice, and my 750GB become seriously screwed just before XMAS:mad: Fair enough, both were replaced under warranty but never again will I trust Samsung drives with my data
I Work for Fujistsu and wev'e just sold the HDD Division to Toshiba, it's a very competitive market right now
-
It will be available later in the year.
Looking forward to that, looks like a great bit of kit, though the screen looks really small, does anyone with one see it okay?
-
Well bugger me! Your monitor must have some epic contrast!
Yes, there are infact 3 pedals plus the foot rest, which is very strange?
Attached image cropped, zoomed and contrast upped:
I just reckon the image is a photoshop, theres no reason for a DSG to have 3 pedals. Should have 2 and the brake pedal should be enormous. Only thing I though of was handbrake but it appears to have a normal one.
How cool would it be if the DSG's clutch could be activated electronically by touching a pedal, could actually be technically possible. That way you really could have an auto and manual in one car!
Very nice looking car BTW if a little over priced. Shame that the Fabia/Polo/Ibiza dont have anything with more than 105BHP yet, bring on 1.4 TSI's I reckon

Just got this email back from the British inventor of the liquid gauge unit. Thought I'd share it with you all :
Basil,
I will be sending out the first diesel prototype to a uk-mk4 forum user later this week for testing. If all goes well it should go on sale by the end of the month.

Do these only work with older Octavia's or do they support CAN-BUS on A5 platform cars?
Edit: I see that it is for Pre-CAN only, is there a product like this thats suitable for CAN-BUS Cars?
-
I'm no good at maths (really bad) so I just use object based comparisons, I get by this way:D
A Gnats **** is a term I use to describe a very small distance between two objects, on the other hand I use double decker buses to describe how big a large object may be
I think I need to call learn direct and get rid of my maths gremlins:D
-
The current sumps seem to tear like coke cans,
I'm no expert on metals but they need to use something that dents instead of tears but is corrosion resistant too
What would also help in the case of the VW TDI's is not having the sump a gnats wang off of the ground, though I don't know how that would be avoidable either
Think fitting the protecotrs from the scout models as standard would be a good start!
-
I share your pain, I did this to my Octavia on New Years day. Cost me a total of £312 because I had to have a new oil sensor and pipe which got totalled along with the sump.
I wish they were made of something better than aluminium:(

Car Came back today, a day later than promised
Upon returning the car, the gearbox went funny (PRNDS flashed all at once), reckon the guy that returned it overheated the gearbox (maybe left in D with handbrake on)
The car has not been fixed in anyway, still need to steer right to go straight and the vibration when braking is worse than before.
To top it off now the car doesent start properly, takes about 20 seconds of pumping the accelerator to get the engine to start and the cruise control is intermittent
So, these people have had my car now for over three weeks and have only managed to make it worse than it was before by seemingly breaking it further
I'm sick of this garage:mad:, do I have a right to tell my insurance company that I want to get a proper Skoda dealer to take care of my car

Coil pack sounds like the culprit. Just ring the RAC, they keep them on board
Mum just got a mechanic out (She couldnt wait any longer), and yes, turned out to be a coilpack, thanks for everyones help and advice
To be fair, I like the 206 and as a VAG Product owner im in no position to say anything about coil packs:D
P.S Is that a joke or do they really carry coil packs with them?
-
She didn't get confused and put the screen wash in the coolant bottle by accident?
First thing I checked, especially with this being my mum:D
All the symptoms say coilpack as suggested, but it's well freaky that it worked fine until she topped up her screenwash.
I think spilling liquid on the HT system is likely, my mums a bit heavy handed with anything mechanical, probably splashed it all over the place
I cant to it until saturday, so I just planned to check all connections in the engine bay, try using VAG_COM to scan for codes (If it works), and check the electrics for dampness.
Failing that it looks like it's going to a garage, unless theres anything else I can check beforehand

Noticed on the Mk V1 Golf with the 7 speed DSG that the ignition key could only be removed when the gear change was 'Park' position. Is this the same with the 6 speeder?
Yes same on 6 spd, and you have to open the selector surround a move a yellow plastic hoop if the battery is flat e.t.c
Spare Wheel
in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Posted
Hi Guys,
Want to change my drivers side front wheel for my spare tyre. The car has Bridestone Turanza's all round but the spare is a Goodyear Eagle NCT. Upon getting the spare out and putting it alongside the existing wheel it looks much bigger in diamater to the existing one. Both wheels appear to be the same and the tyres have the same size written on them,
Is this just an illusion until you actually put it on the car or could it actually be bigger?
