No, it’s a swap like for like. I’ll message the seller tomorrow and see if they have a replacement.
many thanks for the help 👍

Nothing I’ve done then ? Just seemed ok when I first put the replacement on.
coincidence ?

Hi,
I have 3 Skodas which is why I’m posting here as generally your all pretty knowledgeable.
my partner has a 2015 beetle but her DAB stereo doesn’t support CarPlay - is there a model I can swap for it that keeps existing DAB but also has CarPlay ? her existing model number is 5C0035680A.
any help much appreciated!

Every 20k - include pollen/cabin in that.

I’ve driven taxis for 18 years, majority being VAG vehicles. Bear in mind my mileage is mostly urban and as a consequence I go through the revs and gear changes much more. I would change the oil every 10,000 miles, on the 2.0L DSG the oil is shared with the mechatronic so I would change every 30-35k. I’d do brake fluid annually and although cam belt is recommended at 150k ! (I know) I’d do this with water pump every 80,000.
hope that helps.
ps. I expect to get usually around 300-350k before I upgrade it

That’s an Amundsen, the OP has a Columbus which does not have cross compatible parts
Ah ok, just saw the mib1 thing - apologies.

I did it and personally I think it was well worth the money however 100 to 200 for an 8 inch screen maybe a bit optimistic

The service indicator on my 2015 plate octavia tells me it needs a service in 3800 miles. I usually service every 10,000 which means the warning is on nearly 40% of the tome the car is driven.
is there any way that you can get it to warn you at say 15,000 downwards ?

All SE-L’s should have it available as an option. That trim level replaced the Elegance for MY16. When the facelift came along they made it standard.
No, that’s the cost of dealer activation of the car already has a MIB2.
I thought so, my local Preston dealer wanted £180 !

Is the £137 Pawel’s cost for rework ?

If you have standard cruise control, not adaptive cruise control (ACC) then there is no front radar (which is essential for ACC) and hence no front assist (which requires the front radar).
I had front assist and normal cruise control on my 16 plate SEL

Was it diesel / petrol, 1.6 or 2.0, manual or auto ? All variables.
i was offered 10,395 for a 66 plate 2.0dsg SEL after mine was written off on the 1st August. Be aware though, I bought a 65 replacement and it had a mib 1 stereo so that’s something to consider on buying a replacement (hence you tell insurance if yours was later as it increases replacement value on the haggle. Never accept first offer, they will increase £200 without argument.

SashaGrace knows her stuff, I’m getting a unit from @pab567 next week from her recommendation.

You’ll need a new display. Amazed it works at all, mine had CP lock on straight away. You can choose from the 5E0919605J 6.5 inch display, the 5E0919606 8 inch PFL Columbus display or the 5E0919605M 8 inch FL Amundsen display.
6.5” 5E0919605J is considerably cheaper, prices start around £70 upward. Other two are £300-£400. Watch out for the cheapies with a fault line on the displays 😁

you’ll need a 5G0035222F cable set from AliExpress to replace the cables you have now, then you’ll need a USB/Aux trim with the USB and Aux. Make sure it’s a 5Q0035726E green tipped USB.
Would swapping this cable set and USB port be enough to get my mib1 working, or would it need additional coding? If so is that possible with VCDS ?

Thanks I really appreciate you looking and the help you’ve given so far

Yes. Screen choices are 6.5 inch screen (5E0919605J) 8 inch PFL Columbus (5E0919606) and 8 inch FL Amundsen (5E0919605M) and you will need a new USB (5Q0035726E).
Dumb question maybe, but if I went 6.5” to start and decided to go 8” later, would the whole unit need recoding again or is it a straight screen swap ?

With my existing having mdi instead of USB - will I need to replace harness ?

Yes it is, one of the cheapest units to rework
And pawel could get CarPlay on it ? 😉
