Some years ago I noticed an up to 8% bio label on the diesel pump at morrisons - that was the last time I went.

I saved £6776 via my broker! Skoda can shove their 0% and contributions!
Hi, did you manage more than 21% please?
-
One of the guys on here recommended http://www.buyanewcaronline.co.uk/skoda/octavia really tempted as there are 20 odd % plus deals to be had.

Have a look at image no 4 of the beige car - when I look at the 2 halfs of the car I see different shades, maybe a trick of light or previous respray?

Don't forget that when the weather warms up you will be even happier, I lose loads of mpg in the winter.. or gain it in the summer

I think you'll find that should be "5 years or 120_000 miles, whichever is less".
agreed, whichever comes first

Hi, what part of the country are you please?

I enquired about this a few weeks ago as I was torn between diesel and petrol.
(I opted for petrol in the end due to low mileage and short trips) but they started at 9k.. It's been on for nearly a month and not sold, but I reckon a cheeky 8k offer may sway it..
I did offer 8100 about 3 weeks ago and he refused.. But with no takers up to now, it's a buyers market !! Just depends whether you want the piece of mind of a dealer / trader warranty. I know some people aren't bothered, but it's a factor myself so bought main dealer in the end due to the 12 month warranty.
Yeah I know

Years ago I locked my keys in the car, one of my army friends had a look - pushed his leg by the lock and then opened the door! I asked him how he did it - he replied that he's got his khaki trousers on.
I'll get me coat.

Thanks for the informed replies all - plenty of food for thought!

Recently I have been looking at the possibility of buying a new Octavia. I've owned a diesel Octavia for 5 years. The problem is that diesels are getting a bad press but I feel that a diesel suits us for mpg and towing.
My worry is that I get a new diesel and some hairbrained gov scheme makes it all a bad idea.
So at the mo I'm just sticking with what I have and wondering when to pounce.
Any ideas?

I've suffered with rusty rear discs years ago, once a week I use a bit of handbrake for 20 seconds or so, when doing a decent speed, downhill with no one behind. seems to keep the rears nice and shiny.
-
Just done the same with a new L&K (although didn't have part-ex) I got a great deal - £387 per month over 3 years, 20,000 miles per year
That's nearly 14k, and?
-
Coincidence? could it have been ragged during a test drive?
Its driven for 44k and goes during the time its at the stealer! come on.

Woodie, I know nothing about cars running Veg oil. Can you go to the supermarket and fill up with Mazola or alike or will it cause tax duty on fuel issues
I don't think they're that bothered anymore (up to a certain mileage), but customs and excise used to hang around the veg oil aisles in supermarkets (allegedly) looking for bulk buyers.
Apparently they were called "The Frying Squad"

Would it be true to say that build after July 2010 It was the 2.0CR prior to that it was the 2.0PD?

you can thrast the tits off a new car from cold, the ecu wont let you do anything that will damage the car.
If I drop it into second at 90 the ecu will have a choice?

Is this from a franchised main Skoda dealer?
The mileage on the VAGCOM report although in Km's seems high?
For what it is worth our 2008 Scout with 50,000 miles has not experienced any of the issues you describe.
We did have a notchy gearbox when cold (1st to 2nd) but fresh gearbox oil cured that one. It really is a very smooth and precise gear change so it sounds as though yours needs taking back.
Has the car got a towbar, has it been used to tow? This can be hard on the gearbox.
Any signs of off-road use, previous owner a farmer or vet etc? Scout's that see a lot of off-road use or live close to the coast tend to see the Haldex pump housings corroding resulting in water ingress with intermittent faults and eventual failure.
Finally what sort of service history has it got? Make sure the Haldex oil has been renewed. At more than 40K / 3 years old it should have been changed at least once by now - a common oversight during most routine servicing, even at main dealers.
There are a lot of used Scouts out there now that are ex-emergency services, Paramedic cars being the most common, and we are talking hundreds here by the way. They all have a tough life but I'd imagine they would see more than 60K before being retired and would certainly never again see a main dealers forecourt...
It does seem high - that's nearly 220,000 miles
Just hit 100k
