  1. Is there any need to update if you are not having problems ?

I was having problems with car play, but i have bought a new genuine lead for my phone and that has resolved the problem that i had, everything  else is fine...im running Sw471 and 478 is the latest update...

However i would love to switch the virtual subwoofer on, but i have no idea of anyone that could do this !

Might help..I have 2016 amundsen Mib 2. You should be able to hover over the lower part of the screen and a popup menu appears and the choose split view. This should show the next turn and I think pressing manoeuvre will show the full list. You can close with an X button.

Or once route is calculated  pinch the screen inwards or use the right dial to zoom out and see the route it's worked out.

You can have a "setting" option to have it show three routes in different colours.

Would say that Nav is not the easiest to get used to from Garmin, TomTom and Google maps. To get to even typing in a postcode isn't very intuitive at all. I quite often use the voice commands to get to places I know the town and road names as easier and sometime quite humorous!

     Yeah, thanks for that !

Tried the split screen and it works, but only shows the next 3 manoeurves, and not the full list unfortunately...

I suppose its not a bad system, its just I've been split by a tom tom for the last few years lol

  3. Hi,

I part/ex my old vrs for a 18plate race blue vrs, picked it up from Skoda Doncaster, so i thought i would use the sat nav to take me home, I've never used a Skoda sat nav before, as my old vrs didn't have one...

Anyway put destination in then pressed navigate, but for the life of me, i couldn't find any route details so i knew what roads i would be going on !

Is there a option so you take alternative routes and avoid roads like on a tom tom ?

  4. Not the best background....

New all black badges, lettering and rear diffuser...all stands out on the red...

Ironic really, as i am 95% certain the car is being part-ex for a race blue vrs with 19s extreme and  lots of extras...

Taking it for a test drive next week and will try my best to keep my bank card in my pocket...but i know its going to be very very difficult to resist lol

  5. Hi

A mate of mine has a golf gtd, on a 14 plate done about 50k, his silicon bag in his expansion tank has leaked into his coolant and damaged his heater matrix, resulting in big pound notes to fix...

The part is £400 and they have got to take his dashboard out to fit it, if he has told me correctly...i would say its going to be at least £500 !

My question is, should i take the silicon bag out of my vrs tdi as i don't want the same problem lol

How easy is it to take out without damaging it ?

    Thanks guys !

Check my thread out, around page 42-43 there’s instructions to code Skoda Surrond and Virtual Subwoofer. If you have a MIB1 the options won’t show in the menu, but the sound will be richer. If you don’t like it, turn it off again :)

    Thanks !

    Will have a look !

Ceramic polish is also on my list, but i don't know how much of a hole that will burn into my wallet !

I thought the Skoda renewal for the breakdown (Skoda Assist)was reasonable when I renewed it last year at £89 or £99 depending on the payment method. Not as cheap as the BMW at £70 though.

Well this is what i have chosen to do !

Taken out  2 year continuous cover, which cost £145, which is a saving of just over a £100 or 10 months free if i had taken it directly with the AA !

I nearly went with autoaid, but past experience, i thought i would give it a miss....autoaid still good value but i don't think the local garages In the Hinckley and Coventry area are that good...

AutoAID.  Totally.  Seriously Cheap and an effective service. About a quarter of the price of AA renewal (for a 25 year loyal member too).

Second choice RAC paid for with TESCO tokens (so that is a quarter of he price as well)

Have been with autoaid before and am 50-50 on whether to join up on past experience.

I really like the sound of the AA parts and garage cover for about 60 quid, where they will cover up to £535 of repairs if you  break down, but i think you have to have AA breakdown cover to have their parts and garage cover as well...

I looked at this, seems a very good deal, but i think if you break down they tow you to a Skoda garage...

And that's the last place i would want my car to go to without a warranty lol

  10. Was thinking of renewing with autoaid again as i was with them a couple of years ago when i had my old pd vrs...however i was not too impressed when i had to call them out twice....

The guys that came out, I'm my opinion, were not that knowledgeable, 1st callout, didn't diagnose cambelt fault, 2nd time, my starter motor packed up and the guy that came out wasn't too happy, as he was at the end of a 10 hour shift, he had a row with his boss about coming out to my breakdown etc, etc....

So i think i am going to bite the bullet and pay 190 for AA breakdown and parts cover, i know its a lot of money, but i believe you get what you pay for, been with the AA before and i think that they are pretty good !

I went with the full AA package. They also do a breakdown repair warranty too which covers the first £500 of a claim with a £35 excess. Think I paid £190 for the year with the full AA + breakdown repair warranty.

Was leaning towards this one, but I've just spent £200 on 2 front tyres !

Have you had to use the breakdown repair warranty ?

  12. Well I've had my octy vrs a year now, so my Skoda assist and warranty has now expired...

So was wondering which are the most reliable/value for money breakdown cover that you can buy.

Was thinking of the AA, because they were pretty good when i had to call them out via Skoda when my water pump went on my vrs after only having the car a week..AA Good, but expensive !

Groupon got a deal with emergency assist for about 35, home start, etc, etc, worth a punt ?

  13. Hi

Had a major service carried out on my vrs last week and was told that my puncture repair kit is due to expire in the couple of weeks and it will cost £55 to replace....

So thinking of buying a proper spare wheel kit instead off eBay for £110, I know it's more expensive, but I don't mind paying the extra for a ' proper ' spare wheel !

So would this one fit in my boot ?

    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152717135931

    Regards !

Anyone have a guide how to fit the Kenwood / Garmin nav unit? The GVN-MIB1 one unit? I’ve got one coming next week to give me something to do over Christmas and a heads up on what needs to be removed would be good.

    Cheers

How much did you pay as i am interested in one for my vrs if the price is right !
