  1. Morning, does anyone have an update for this unit? Thanks 😊
  2. That'd be lovely thank you! I'll have to have a read through your thread now and work out what I need for the camera
  3. Ah I don't mind really. I think the last time I signed in I couldn't remember my password so just clicked on the Facebook link, which obviously just created me a new account! If anything @john999boy did me a favour, now I only have to remember one @SashaGrace would you recommend the rear camera upgrade, was it much of a faff? I've actually managed to lose the rear indicator display when I swapped the radio over (something I forgot to check before saying no need for a recode to Pawel - my fault) and i'm thinking this might be a good excuse to fix it!
  4. That's me btw.. apparently I have 2 accounts?
  5. Bloody hell Sasha... those are some amazing mods you've done recently. I think the rear cam is my next project... that should stop me doing the virtual cockpit one, for a while anyway Great job, as always!
  6. I fitted the LED number plate lights last night, though I couldn't seem to get them to dim down.. might have to check the coding again tonight. It's that time of the year to start playing with lights again!
  7. Excellent, my other half will be happy. She's been lamenting that I've been able to use waze/gmaps for ages and she was stuck with Apple maps Shame about the A5 camera, hope you get a solution to that one eventually...
  8. Yep fitted as standard so I don't have to do any mods (thankfully!). The puddle lights look pretty cool but I don't think they serve much purpose when stationary
  9. That'll be the mirror downlight boarding light. Mine lights up when I lock/unlock the car. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-original-Skoda-mirror-downlight-boarding-light-LEFT
  10. I haven't sold my old gear yet so admittedly if I do, that would bring the cost down too. Sasha is still way ahead anyway due to her free CP removal
  11. If you keep your eyes open for deals online and ask around your local breaker yards then you can go cheaper than that. My upgrade was : MIB2 head unit + card - £150 columbus screen - £200 (I really wanted the bigger screen so was willing to pay extra) CP removal - £100 Other software enabling - £185 (200 euro) So actually more like £635. Probably could have got it down lower if i'd been less picky about a screen! Admittedly I already had the GPS kit so that wasn't required on top.
  12. Just a heed of warning using Car Equipment, I attempted to order a screen from them twice but they didn't have the stock (despite the website saying otherwise) and took a while to let me know and refund me. I wasted about 2 months trying to get one from them before giving up and going down the ebay/breakers route. They are nice people and respond to emails - eventually - but it's obviously a fairly small operation.. I suspect the language barrier/response times is the reason for a bad rap. Just something to be wary of if you plan on sourcing it through them.
  13. I've been looking at this unit as well, how did you get on?
  14. Hi Mike, I've been looking at options and this looks like one of the best for an upgrade. The Pioneer website now seems to list this model - AVIC-EVO1-OC2-MTB as apposed to the OC1. Do you know what the differences are, if any? Thanks.
  15. Ah that's a shame, worth a try though ;-) Always appreciate a bit of mildly sarcastic irrelevant nonsense from time to time... Thanks for the tip Sasha, I'll PM him once i've sourced a working unit. Good to hear the upgrade is worth it. I used to be an Apple man way back with the first iPhone, changed over to Android a few years later and to be honest didn't miss a thing. Once you're tied up in the ecosystem it's hard to escape though. Sounds like the latest update has sorted things out for you, fingers crossed!
  16. Hmm that's a very good point, thanks. I notice you do Columbus sales and repair, I don't suppose that includes the decoding part too? I'd rather the cash/work go to a forum member if the option is available.
  17. Great thanks for confirming Sasha. I had a good read through your Octavia vRS thread too - good job! I called a local breakers today and they seemed to think they'd have an MIB2 model in, i'm waiting back on a price. When I asked about the coding they said it would come with it all done.. but i'm dubious. Perhaps they just mean unlocking? Any third party decoders you'd recommend?
  18. Sorry to jump on this thread but i'm still a bit confused on what I'd need to upgrade what I've got.. It's the 2.0 TDI CR Elegance with a AMUNDSEN model. I'd guess the MIB1 as it's a late 2014 and doesn't come with MirrorLink/SmartLink. If I purchased a MIB2 AMUNDSEN unit + the new USB plugs and found a dealer to code it, would that give me Android Auto / smartlink? Would I need to replace the screen unit too?
  19. Having power problems, suspect battery.. Driving to the airport last week and the engine warning light came on (similar when a ignition coil fails) but no real loss of power. Picked up passengers and light had gone, car seemed fine. Noticed afterwards that it was taking a bit more effort to start the engine, just sounded a bit weaker. Eventually gave up the over day and only turned over once or twice. I stuck the headlights on full beam and tried again, lights working but I got 3 long beeps coming from the dash - presume this is a power fault? Took the battery out tonight and the 'magic eye' is clear no colour at all. Is it worth trying to charge up the battery to see if it holds a charge or should I just replace it? Pretty sure it's the original battery (Akuma) and it's an 06 model so would be about 5 yrs old I guess. Any advice guys? Cheers!
  20. No, I can't get it back in with the seatbelt suck
  21. I've tried to move the seat as upright as possible. Still seems to be locked though.. I can't get the seat fully fitted back in as there's not enough belt left to maneuver it in! Will any of the clips effect the seatbelt mechanism? I thought it was a separate system?
  22. I was messing around trying to remove the rear seats from the back of my fabia estate. Got the small back seat off and attempted to remove the larger back seat. Pinged off the top of the seatbelt cover by mistake and now the seatbelt is fully locked and the belt is so tight it won't allow me to bring the cushion fully upright. I've read around a bit and it sounds like removing the seatbelt anchor might do the trick, I don't have the right tool to take the bolt off though. Any ideas?
  23. Just wanted to confirm that attaching the blue cable of the antenna adaptor to the blue cable of the harness adapter solved the problem. Thanks guys!
