  1. I had to have mine replaced at 45k. I chose to get it done straight away rather than risk failure at 70mph and the droning noise was a pain. The wheels felt fine with no play but when I examined the old bearings off the car they felt quiet gritty.
  2. The 1.6 tdi was intrduced in 2010 and all 1.6 tdi Fabia`s have a DPF. The 1.9tdi & sdi Fabia was made from 2001 to 2010 and no Fabia 1.9tdi OR 1.9sdi have a dpf. So the youngest Fabia diesel without a DPF is a 2010 Fabia 1.9tdi. There none on autotrader at the moment but there are four 2009`s. You might finf the following link useful. Cars without a DPF - (dpfproblems.net)
  3. If you are looking for reliability I would search this forum for how many people have problems with the 1.6 tdi flashing glow plug warning light. Lots of sensor , egr, problems especially if this engine is not getting any long runs. 1.9tdi are reliable but none made after 2010.
  4. Mine was not so reliable on 12 mile journeys. It seem they run well when doing big milage but not so good on anything less than 30 mile runs. And no good if you had the delaer "fix" done. had enough after 4 years and chopped in for a non dpf Fabia.
  5. My 2011 1.6tdi often had a high tickover. Its part of the regen process. Sometimes flashing glow plug too that cleared after a run. I think it flashes when the DPF is over a certain % of particles and needs to burn them off. I had the following replaced during my ownership, O2 Sensor, EGR valve & exhaust gas temp sensor. I was glad to get swap for 1.9tdi. I had a slightly sticky accelerator pedal on my 1.9 but cured it with WD40.
  6. More important is are you doing long journeys to keep the DPF running OK. This car needs long runs every week to help the DPF regenerate. If you just pootle around town a 2010 1.9tdi fabia diesel would be better. Has it had the emissions fix? If you have no knowledge of theses thing I suggest you google them.
  7. Change the oil and filter every 10k and the engine will outlive every thing else on the car. My family put 190k on a mk1 1.9 sdi and the engine was fine when we sold on. This engine was the taxi drivers favourite in the octavia before euro 5 regs often reaching 250 to 300k.
  8. The downside to a remap is you fill up your DPF quicker and regen more often. If you typically do longish journeys (20miles +) it will not be a problem. I tried a remap and frequently had the yellow warning light which would only go after a 70 mph 20 minute drive. I returned it to standard and chopped in for a 1.9tdi and enjoyed excellent reliability since.
