  1. I was just interested to know how it drives and what the engine is like. If I was buying my new car now I would happily buy a common rail. Its equally proven as they used it in the Octavia range before the Fabias. Loads of taxi drivers love them and really rack up the miles. I hear they are more 'driveable' a bit like a petrol engine.

A lot of people find reasons to cast doom and gloom over new ideas (yes I know common rail isnt new as a concept). I remember people predicting catalytic converters failing everywhere when they came in.......never happened.

When the PD first came in I expect the doomsayers said it would never last..........they obviously got bored waiting for the PD to fail and moved on to waiting for the comon rails to go. Hope they have a lot of patience :smirk:

When I got my company 306 HDI it replaced an old style diesel company car.

I would say the only time you can really tell the Citroen is a diesel is out side the car and in crawling traffic when I can take my foot off the accelerator and just trundle along. In the Berlingo the engine is not as fast or as fuel friendly, then again the Berlingo's shape is more like a brick than a car.

I have been driving diesel cars for over 10 years and when I worked out the total cost of the Greenline II and 1.2 TSI over 3 and 6 years the Greenline was just cheaper and a lot cheaper to run- which did surprise me.

  2. Its no big deal. My Greenline has that tyre size. It handles fine wet or dry and they are only about £42 to replace. If you decide you want a proper spare wheel rather than the tyre foam and compressor they supply here is the spec for the rim:

    5Jx14H2

    ET35

    Centre hole 57

    PCD 100

Be good to hear how you get on with the new common rail engine. I guess the gearbox is different as well.

Raisbeck, I do not see a problem with the common rail engine. My Peugeot 306 2.0HDI was brill and one reason I bought a Citroen Berlingo 2.0HDI - it's the same engine.

I have been driving a common rail diesel on cheap supermarket fuel for 9 years without a problem and do not see a problem with the Greenline II -time will tell.

I found this article from the Peugeot 306 club interesting, "www.club-306.com/forum/page/articles/_/306-information/peugeot-hdi-technology-r20"

Still driving the Citroen, the Peugeot (company car) had in excess of 120,000 miles on the clock when I left.

  3. The czech site also shows the vast majority of Fabia variants as fitted with 165-70-14 tyres !!!

The parcel shelves of basic versions are nothing like the much larger closed glovebox versions so I dont see how a retrospectively fitted cover would work. Certainly I wouldnt be happy with cheap shelves version....

I have just spoken to the dealer and they could not confirm if the car comes with shelves or glove-box, will inquire next week.

More worrying was I asked if build week was still next week and the answer was yes planned for week 37 but not confirmed.

I think I will be one of the first people to get a Greenline ii in the UK, Along with CT17 and BDG. BDG ordered his after mine and we both have the same planned build week, with different expected delivery dates September and October.

  4. Does anyone know if the new Greenline 1.2 diesel estate has gloveboxes with closing lids or are they the open type as on the fabia S? Not clear at all in the brochure. Many thanks.

I have a Greenline ii on order and am expecting it to come with the two parcel shelves. Though looking on the Chech web site it shows the Greenline having a glove-box cover.

I have been given a build week of 37 and expected delivery by end of September when I will know if the car comes with a cover or not - If not I will order the cover kit.

  5. Flicking through this weeks AutoExpress in my stations buffet, there was a Group Test on all the available (so called) Road Tax Free cars. However the Fabia Greenline II isnt included.

I wonder why that is, as the Greenline has had plenty of coverage concerning its fuel comsumption?

    Regards

    Grahame

I think the key might be available.

When I started looking for another car an asked about the Greenline II I was told it was available on pre order only and would be available for delivery in October - I am lead to believe mine will be end of September.

The only info I have found showing the dash of the car and the new grille is on the Czech website.

  6. told by dealer that my fl scout is at emden, and that he hopes that it will be on the boat that leaves on the 28 aug, what i would like to know is how long is the timescale from landing in uk to when the dealer hands it over,it was ordered end of may and was built wk 32,just before the flood problem, thanks

I have been given a build week of 13 September and delivery by end of September approx two weeks after build.

  7. over half of my driving is around town or short journys and I have just ordered a Greenline II, anybody else ordered one?

I have been given an idea of about 14 weeks from order to delivery, is such a long time normal?

My understanding is the car should have been in the UK in July 2010 and no dealer had one to see or test - I drove the 1.2 equivalent as some sort of test.

Just been given a build week of W37 ( week beginning 13th September) delivery should be by end of September.

  8. Thanks for the info.

Still not decided, I usually pay cash for service over the years of ownership.

Though I have been told if I get a Skoda sevice plan you can take the car to any Skoda dealer.

I have not used HP before to buy a car and presume I would have to pay for the third service and MOT before trade in.

  9. I think it depends on the car. Are you planning to change after 3 years or is this a keeper? I am waiting for a Fabia and as far as I can remember I was quoted around £12/month for the 2nd plan and around £19 for the top plan. However, after the dealer 'explained' it to me I didn't go for it because I will change it after 3 years.

    Hope this helps

I have not made my mind up to keep or to trade in at 3/4 years.

  10. I have on order a Greenline II delivery some time in October.

I have just asked the dealers if I can get a three year fixed cost service plan and did not ask the price.

Skoda offer three plans, service, service and maintenance and service, maintenance and tyres.

What is the cost of the plans and are they worth having?

If I do not have a plan, what is the likely costs of the three service's

    Thanks
