Is anyone else having issues with the 2022 map update for Columbus? I downloaded it to my computer but when trying to copy to USB stick it gave an error saying "unsupported compression method".

My car was still running the 2021 map so I tried upgrading to the 2021/2022 version instead and that has worked fine.

You have to decompress or Unzip on your computer and copy the files onto your USB stick.

  2. Finally did update my Columbus unit. Biggest problem I had was getting the 26Gb download. Downloads kept stopping for no apparent reason meaning I had to start over. Finally in desperation I installed a Download Manager on the PC  which did the job. Unzipped files to an SD card and installed fine - just a shame they have not got around to adding postcode search for destinations..

  3. Hi all,

I am about to update my Columbus mapping, I have downloaded relevant maps, Unzipped and put them on SD card. My question is that Skoda say it will take about 4 hours to upload to the internal hard drive. Is it OK to leave the ignition on that long without running the engine. It is a Diesel engine. Which ignition position should I leave it in for the process to take place. please?

  4. Hi Guys, I have just retired my much loved 2007 Octavia Laurin & Klement and bought a used Superb Estate 2015 with 31000 miles recorded and from service history believe this is genuine. I have a question about the Columbus Satnav. Can I set destinations by UK Postcodes rather than going through Town, Street routine.

  5. Hi, I'm looking to add an ignition switched power supply to my Octavia. for my dash-cam. The ciggy lighter socket is live at all times and it is hard to conceal leads from it to the windscreen area. Does anyone have a good idea where I can break in to a switched lead and earth to provide this Ideally would like an easy place as I don't want to strip out half the dash to do it.

Why don't car makers put in a nice neat socket in the dash area for accessories instead of the horrible old fashioned ciggy lighter. I would have thought that a USB type socket with 12 volt feed and 5 volt out would be ideal. (Probably cost at least £5 if added to car at time of manufacture.)

It would be perfect to feed dashcams, phones and most satnavs.

  6. Hi, I have recently bought a head unit with satnav, DVD etc for my Octavia Laurin & Klement 2007. It is supposed to be a direct fit according to vendor but I find the facia inlay is a different size. The head unit fitted originally was the Skoda Stream and this seems to be wider at the facia than the new unit. Does anyone know if there are alternative facia inlays for this model. The new head unit measures 21.7 top, 21 cm bottom and 13 cm deep
