  1. Reply to Ootohere, I am the OP, it transpired that the fault on mine was caused by a faulty NOX sensor. This was fixed by the main dealers who were the only people locally who had the equipment needed to reset the fault after replacing the NOX sensor. Quite costly though about £1200
  2. I have several cameras but only one of them and my phone puts the GPS coordonates on the EXIF data. What I usually do is compare the GPX track which many standalone SatNavs can export to the time the photo was taken. Obviously if the GPS timestamp is the same as the camera timestamp then I us a program to write the GPS coords to the photo EXIF data. Works great, but only if your satnav allows the export of the GPX track. Out of interest I have 2 NIKON DSLRs a Panasonic TX70 an Sony compact and a Samsung compact plus a Fuji non reflex eyelevel camera. Only the Samsung supports GPS coords but it is otherwise not as good as the others.
  3. Hi, Many standalone GPS allow the user to extract previous routes driven as GPX tracks. Does anyone know if this is possible from the Columbus unit built in to my Superb.? I used this facility regularly to write GPS coordinates to photos I take on my journeys.
  4. Thank you all for the feedback> I think the situation on mine was perhaps exacerbated by an adblue fault which perhaps caused the initial alert to refill. Always in the past I have added 10 litres when the refill alert came on. I have never seen it tell me a minimum or maximum fill amount. I will look closer when I hopefully get it back from the dealer. Suspect in future I will only feed it with 5 litres when the alert comes on - OR take it to a garage and let them do it. ( If they mess up maybe they would take responsibility, but I doubt it) I still think it is poor design that there is no indicator in the fill area to show the level, especially as it seems so critical.
  5. Thank you, where did you see this? Is it accessible from a menu anywhere? Thanks for the feedback.
  6. My Superb had the yellow light come on for adblue topup, I filled it up from a 10 liter can of Redex brand adblue, there is NO indication of how much you can add and no indication when you are full or even how much is in the tank. You simply get a warning to fill it and the range left available in miles. After filling the yellow light did not go out but gave me a decreasing range. My garage tells me that once that range drops to zero the engine locks out and will not start. I was told to go to a main dealer to get the error reset, they have checked and report that the tank was filled too far and probably needs a new tank at a cost of just over £1200! The tank did not overflow when I filled it. Can anyone tell me how the operator can know HOW MUCH to add. Seems like a pretty poor design fault to me. Surely there should b some sort of indicator or failsafe to something as serious as this. I have owned several Skoda cars but only this one uses adblue. I am very disappointed by such a poor system! To be fair to the main dealerthe technician wants to talk to "technical" before he goes ahead and fits such an expensive part 🙁
  7. You have to decompress or Unzip on your computer and copy the files onto your USB stick.
  8. Mine only took about 45 minutes and went smoothly once I managed to download it. My internet kept dropping out before the full file was downloaded - I used a download manager in the end and that worked fine. Very happy with the update.
  9. So sorry Skoda. BTW postcodes in France are all numeric 😉
  10. Trific, never seen that before thanks a load.
  11. Finally did update my Columbus unit. Biggest problem I had was getting the 26Gb download. Downloads kept stopping for no apparent reason meaning I had to start over. Finally in desperation I installed a Download Manager on the PC which did the job. Unzipped files to an SD card and installed fine - just a shame they have not got around to adding postcode search for destinations..
  12. I have just updated my Columbus to the latest mapping hoping that they would finally add postcode destination search. Sadly this is not the case, when will they get with the 21st century?
  13. It only happens in ECO mode with the DSG gearbox. Regarding starting off in second gear, this often happens if you are on flattish land or facing downhill. No real need for first gear unless you are trying to pull away like a formula 1 driver or on a steep hill.
  14. If an update to Columbus mapping is interrupted in any way can it restart where it left off or do you start again.
  15. Thanks for the info, it is a DSG and you have set my mind at rest. I guessed that was what was happening but was not sure. Thank you. Ron
  16. Hi, is it normal for the rev counter to drop to 1000 rpm in eco mode when car is over-running. For example when going downhill. then the rev counter goes to normal speed when accelerating?
  17. Hi I have finally managed to download the update which is 26Gb. Last time it was updated was 2015. My question is, can I start the update and then lock the car to go to bed and let it do its thing while I am asleep?
  18. Hi all, I am about to update my Columbus mapping, I have downloaded relevant maps, Unzipped and put them on SD card. My question is that Skoda say it will take about 4 hours to upload to the internal hard drive. Is it OK to leave the ignition on that long without running the engine. It is a Diesel engine. Which ignition position should I leave it in for the process to take place. please?
  19. Thank you everyone for your help. Mirror now fixed.
  20. Sorry if I was unclear, the bit that sticks to the windscreen is still in place, but the mirror and its housing has come off.
  21. Hi All the rear view mirror fell off when I was adjusting it. Any ideas on how to refit it on my 2007 L&K Octavia. It has autowipers and self dimming mirror.
  22. Thanks for all the help everyone - however having looked at the glovebox it is not immediately obvious to me quite HOW you lower the glovebox. The picture shows interior of my glovebox and the DVD/CD drive
  23. Do any of you experts out there know the location of the fusebox please. I need to hardwire my dashcam. My Octavia had it in the end of the Dash near the door hinge but on the Superb this has the word Airbag embossed on it. I am hesitant to remove it in case it sets the airbag off in my face.
  24. Thankyou so much - must try this. So much easier than typing in all the rest of the address.
  25. Hi Guys, I have just retired my much loved 2007 Octavia Laurin & Klement and bought a used Superb Estate 2015 with 31000 miles recorded and from service history believe this is genuine. I have a question about the Columbus Satnav. Can I set destinations by UK Postcodes rather than going through Town, Street routine.
