  1. I should add prior to my investigations I did install a new battery to no avail! After that I later purchased a proper battery tester to check cranking power. Also the starter motor was described as an uprated one ie from 1.7 to 2 KW if I remember rightly.
  2. For 2 years I have stubbornly trying to solve slow starting on my Scout 1.9 BSW engine. Slow start first thing then OK rest of day .Starting with replacement glow plug loom after finding shroud ends cracked and broken. Next glow plugs even though resistance readings were correct ,followed by glow plug relay. Then the coolant temp sensor. , followed by MAF sensor . Next replaced fuel lift pump and fuel filter. It was only towards the end of my investigations in a car park when nothing happened first turn of key did I think starter motor. And that's what it was as fitted new starter and engine start is immediate. Luckily all the parts were relativity cheap and I now know what all the sensors on the car do where as before I didn't have a clue.
  3. Thanks for your story . I have 2007 Scout 1.9 with the BSW engine with about 95k on the clock. Sometimes it hard to keep the Roomster faith with little niggles cropping up , but one plus is parts are cheap. Working my way through a second turn of the key starting niggle with one item at a time. As a result I know what all the sensors are about. Also changed glow plugs and relay , also fuel lift pump. Next up is a new starter when weather gets warmer.
  4. 2007 ROOMSTER 1.9 SCOUT NEARSIDE REAR PASSENGER LOCK FAIL - Skoda Roomster (2006-2015) - BRISKODA Does anything here help?
  5. Yes doesn't sound that friendly if garage is saying don't come back next year for MOT. DieselV6 gives good advice and try and find a honest small family run independent garage that wants your custom.
  6. Found another screw at top of and inside side cover same as previous one. With both out and screw along fue bar out was able to pull the trim and wedge with wood pieces sufficient to get hand in and waggle old relay free , and then push new one in. Not easy as took a lot of waggling to free
  7. Think I have found why trim will not come away , possibly due to a recessed screw inside dash side cover. Found a video detailing removal of dash on Fabia 2 and the clue was there. Also see my photo with hidden screw only just visible behind plastic lug.. So correct relay should arrive soon and hopfully be able to install .
  8. Thank you again for your help again. Regards Robert
  9. Yes thanks vin number is TMBNG65J675059105. BSW. ( ENGINE ) Below main switch is cuby for loose change and is moulded into the trim.
  10. Struggling to clear trim away to gain access to relay panel behind fuses. Any advice that was on the internet seems to be no longer available. Taken 3 screws out at fuse bank level but trim does not want to come away easily.Any advice would be welcome.May be Im not being brutal enough .Also replacement relay comes with bracket I hope it's the right one. Scout 2007 1.9. Thank you.
  11. Car Code Reader,U281 OBD2 Code Reader DTC Scan Quick Diagnostic Reset Diagnostic Check Tool Replacement for Car Vehicle from AMAZON £23 Found it hard to insert into socket and hard to understand (maybe me)but it cleared the fault.
  12. To add more I was looking for a possible parasitic drain pulled out a fuse with engine running. Air bag light stayed on no matter what I did but a cheap scanner cleared it and panic was over.
  13. An OBD2 SCANNER ABOUT £16 TO £20 should reset it.

  15. Quite a few for sale on eBay for different models for around £50. I bought one years ago for my 1.9 but because of the double skin it hasn't needed changing yet. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181376828393?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Model%3ARoomster&_skw=skoda+rooomster+exhaus
