I replaced washer with a dowty seal, never replace it. Now on its ninth oil change. Always use a torque wrench on sump plug. Too easy to strip threads! Other Roomster we have has had the gorilla mechanic on it! Sump threads are slightly stripped, so only tighten it to 25n/m.

UK average dealers hourly rate. More expensive down south.

One of mine is the same, suspect damp in the electronics in winter. Could take the cover of the driver door panel and warm the circuit boards with a hair dryer to confirm.
-
I've had intermittent ABS faults before when changing bearings and sensor, it was due to bad connection on sensor plug to loom. Check connection and clean with contact spray. Could be the reason for intermittent working.

CV joint and new rubber boot or just the rubber boot

Or purchase a stretch boot and use a cone without taking the joint off. -
2006 octavia 4x4. Replace tensioning pulley

Alternator belt tensioner. -
It's not the engine mounts, all ok. Turbo pipe was resting against sump and lettering on plastic pipe rubbing against sump, with running vibration. Probably slightly misaligned from new. Cable tied pipe back a couple of millimetres to give it clearance.

Anyone come across this before? Hole in side of sump from Turbo Pipe rubbing. According to service history, was repaired at 76k now 100k. Going to try same repair with JB Weld New Sump if not successful. 2009, 1.9tdi pd engine.

If it is high mileage, 120 - 150K, gearbox oil change can reduce stiffness / notchyness, if none of the other suggestions work.

I have had the same fault code on the front of the other Roomster we have. Lived with it for several months until it cleared itself. Came up after changing bearing, renewed sensor twice. Fault was being caused by the connector, I think it was bad pin connections, worth a check and clean.

It is possible to drift the old bearing out of the hub, clean the seat up. Then heat it in the oven for a couple of hours, leave the bearing in the freezer overnight. Lightly oil the bearing and it pushes in by hand. Seat with a light tap with wood. Holding ring then has to be pushed in with a screwdriver. Downside is you have to remove the ABS sensor, which usually means a new one. I did our last one with this procedure, still going strong after 50,000 miles until I took the car off the road.

Thanks Wino. I will trace and test when we get a dry day.
