  1. I just wanted to flag up to anyone who had used Underwood Colchester who have now closed to please take care if they choose to take their vehicle to Underwood's Clacton

My experiences at Colchester was always very good.

It's been awful with the guys at Clacton.

And if you do have issues be prepared that Skoda UK will side with the so called approved partner than the customer.

It's a shame as when I come to change my car in 2024 I will looking elsewhere.

  2. I had my car serviced by these guys in Colchester without any issues.

They have now closed and advised me to take my vehicle to Clacton on Sea which is a Skoda partner and not a franchise dealership.

The one in Clacton is Vauxhall.

    That should be warning one.

So in short I had an awful experience with Underwood Clacton and will never be taking my vehicle to them again. Trading Standards have been advised of the issue.

I suggest looking elsewhere for your Skoda servicing.

  3. Just thought i would add in mines done the same and having been a loyal customer for 16 years (numerous new cars full dealer service still no good will to cover what would be £100 respray bill) and its now the last straw.

Fed up with Skoda now after 16 years, most of that no issues but in the last year Skoda are just so unreliable and customer service is just appauling.

Time for an upgrade - looks like some other brand will be getting the money for our new 66 plate - most def wont be any VAG Group Car !

  4. I feel i have to leave some feedback for the dealer (and Skoda) - NEGATIVE FEEDBACK !!

I have been a loyal Skoda customer for the last 16 years and have had my cars serviced at Skoda dealerships (paying a premium over local garages who would have also used genuine parts from TPS)

My vRS spoiler started to have the lacquer blister. Apparently this is a very common problem for skoda (that said I have never had any other spoiler do this from other makes)

I took this into Underwoods (only local Skoda dealership so not much choice!) and was told we dont have anyone to deal with warranty issues...?? Really no one?

Was told to take the car to a bodty shop to get them to have a look. Not a problem - they viewed vehicle and agreed that the paint was as a result of a defect as no other cause for the blistering. The body shop (who were excellent) took pictures and sent them to Underwoods for action.

8 weeks later I rang Underwoods to be told we have a new manager and nothing has been done and you have to start again.

A call to Skoda Customer Services (who now are next to useless) directed me to their finance department of all places. Finance dept were utterly confused and left me on hold for over 30 minutes so i had to hang up.

2 weeks after that i popped into Underwoods to be told ohhh your paint work has been declined by Skoda (apparently this had been done shortly after my initial visit so who knows why they didnt inform me.

A call to Skoda and inform me the dealerships make the decisions incl good will gestures - so in essence Underwoods said no NOT Skoda.

Also apparently paint only guaranteed for 3 years - so after 3 years be prepared for a new paint job - bet you didn't budget for that when buying a new car!!

All in all - utterly useless. I knew there was a reason i stopped haveing my car serviced by them (that was because they charged me £250 for an alleged service which they hadnt even done years ago)

Its a shame that Hayes are no longer a franchised Skoda dealer as they have always been good.

    So moan over:

    Underwoods - CRAP

Skoda - You have just lost a loyal customer - sodd your new 7 seater and following your emissions fiasco i think we will go to elsewhere for our 66 plate !

  5. Hullo

Been rummaging in the shed and found three cam covers! yes, I don't know quite where they all came from either, maybe a spare head and maybe one for me to think about a new colour coding scheme.... PD130 so fits the usual TDI suspects too (including PD100 TDI)

Anyway - if anyone wants one, £40 (maybe ono ;)) delivered to your door. Each comes with a decent looking rubber seal too. You'll need to refit your own oil cap unit though.

    Cheers.

    Any pics?

  6. Hi there can't really help you on professionals to do this on your area.

Just be aware this is classed as a modification and you have to declare it to your insurance company!

I only found out when I came to renew. Otherwise you may well be left without insurance.

I think Pentagon glass might ne somewhere around you but not sure.

  7. For folding mirrors you just need 2x mirrors with folding motors, doors ECU(from 2009 with automaticaly dimming mirrs you dont need it) switch and some coding, that´s all. No new wiring to dash

For memory mirrors you need all from top and mainly driver memory seat

Hi there does anyone know what this would all come to.

Interested on doing this depending on cost....

  8. I bought a BT kit which comes with a plug and play connector for the head unit to avoid rewiring the quad connector . Trouble is the plug and play assembly (i.e. plug and socket and a bit of extra loom) seems to be too big to fit behind the head unit (bolero) or hide away somewhere else. If anyone else has done one of these installs could you kindly tell me where I am going wrong?

Hi I had the same problem with a fiscon with my bolero.

You can get it all to fit behind wt a little bt iof fiddlingaround.

I ended up splicing the cables soldering then and taking them up to get a much neater finish.

It ended up being the best thing when I replaced the bolero for a Columbus.

    Hope that helps

  9. Thanks for the reply.

I have had the car for about 15 months so thats probbaly why the wont do it for free. However done mind paying a little to get upto dateish maps.

is there really any point in changing firmware. What extra do I get?

I sorest have full postcode entry though a long winded process is this any better with 38**?

  10. Just about to do the same - POInspect0r makes it easy and it now does batch updates so you can refresh the source files and rebuild the database with a couple of mouse clicks. All we need now is a firmware update that does audible alerts for speedcams.....

    Hi everyone

Rather than start a new thread thought I would put the question here.

I have v7 maps at the moment on firmware 2720 I think.

Is it worth upgrading firmware to the 38** one before I go to the dealers to upgrade to v8 maps.

My local dealer won't upgrade the maps for free so looks like a fee to pay there.

Have others had local dealers do the map upgrade for free?

    Cheers

  11. Dear All

Following no responses from my last post I will try again.

I have a Fiscon Bluetooth fitted to my columbus which until recently has been great.

I have just changed phones to a Motorola Atrix, great phone apart from the fact itr will not stay connected to the Fiscon.

Both units claim to support Profile 2.1 + EDR so should work.

Motorola/Orange and Fiscon have all been lets say $%£$ with any help.

I can get the units to pair up but then the connection is lost, I get a message on the phone saying vsuiteapp has caused an error.

Have tried a number of fixes online from the various forums on android phones but no joy.

Does anyone here have any ideas otherwise there may well be a fiscon unit up for sale.

Any help will be much appreciated.

PS the fiscon works fine with my other phones, HTC + Nokia so i know that not at fault and orange have already replaced the phone once and still same trouble

  12. It looks great mate!!!

Quite envious of your tints though.....because:

The tinting you have done, did the people who did it mange to get right to the edge of the glass on the small rear windows.

Just that I had mine done and there is a small, less than 1mm, gap where the tint doesnt quite get to the edge. Also noted some tiny bubbles where the did not get all the air out as well.

I took it back when I noticed this, only when I can to clean and polish the car, but the chap said thay couldnt do any better....?

Not sure if they are just fobbing me off or if that is the case.

Mine was done by Pentagon Glass in Essex and they do say it has a 3 yr warranty on the tints.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  13. Hi Guys

Have just noted that the Yeti can have as an option a 3 spoke MFSW.

This would be ideal in a manual vRS.

Given that blutooth is standard in Ireland there must be some vRS 3 spoke MFSW available without the flappy paddles....?

Has anyone seen one, does it look the same as the vRS DSG one but without the paddles and has anyone changed theirs for one yet??

  14. I did finally get this resolved.

The person at the desk had just, according to the service manager, ticked everything.

They confirm that it was long life 507 spec oil.

However not sure so have just bought some Castrol Edge 507 spec and am having local independant garage change oil just in case.

What the dealer doesnt know wont hurt the warranty, right.

  15. I know its not quite what this post is about but I am about to order some HIDs with micro ballasts after spending the last 6 months considering the legal aspects.

The thing is I do not have VCDS so will have to ask someone around essex to code it for me.

SO the question is what do you think is a reasonable fee to pay someone to have coding done?

    Thanks in advance.
