  1. We too picked up a new SE-L on Friday, that has Mirrorlink not SmartLink. I had asked while we were waiting for it to be delivered if it was a post week 22 car and been told it was. To be honest I'm not that bothered about using SmartLink, but having been told it was a post 22 car, by a salesman who appeared to know why I was asking it is spoilt what is otherwise a great car. Not had our follow up phone call yet, but it might be interesting when it does come!
  2. I've just gone the other way, from a FWD hatch to a 4x4 estate and I'd agree with you. The ride on the 4x4 estate seems much better to me and SWMBO. Neither of us have driven it close to hard, but in normal driving on A / B roads it just seems to ride better.
  3. Well I got a new replacement SIM in a Three shop this afternoon and put it in the phone. No difference at all when I tried changing from HFP to Rsap, it connected just fine, downloaded the phone book and then about a minute later said my phone was not responding before disconnecting and reconnecting in HFP mode again.
  4. I've been doing some digging and it looks like the S4 has an issue with the new wi-fi version of the bluetooth module in the car, which I have. It looks like I'll have to root my phone and then install the rSAP for Android app. There is a slight chance that a new SIM card from 3 might solve my issue, so I'll give that a go first. Details of what I've found are here. I could of course just use HFP, but the 3 signal struggles to make it inside the car!
  5. I tried the app just now, it makes no difference. I even deleted the profile and added it again after installing the app.
  6. 4.4.2 Just tried my wife's S2 and that appeared to work fine so I guess it is an issue with my phone, although that has not changed.
  7. I have a problem with my new car. My Samsung Galaxy S4 worked great in my 2012 Superb in RSAP mode, in my new 2014 car it connects in RSAP mode and then disconnects a few seconds later only to eventually reconnect a minute or two later in HFP mode. It will do this everytime I get in the car. Any ideas, as usual I could have been talking Greek when I tried explaining this to the dealer. He decided it was a safety thing to stop me sending texts from Columbus!
  8. Hi All, I picked up my new toy yesterday, a 4 month old 2.0 170 DSG 4x4 L&K Estate. Really happy with it except the stupid beeps when you open the tailgate. I often get home in the middle of the night, or go out early in the mornings and I don't think the neighbors are going to like the sound of a truck reversing each time I open the boot to get stuff in or out. I've seen an old thread about turning them off in VCDS, but I'm not sure that is still valid for a recent car? I don't have VCDS, so would be looking for a local member willing to give it a go for a beer or four.
  9. Ah, that sounds like a phone issue rather than something in the car. You could try going into flight mode and back out to see if that gets data back, I sometimes have to do that if I've been out of a signal area with my S4. It's a real pain when I don't realise the phone has done it and someone calls to see why I've not replied to an email for hours.
  10. The RSAP does indeed pass everything over to the car. In effect the car is a phone and just reads your SIM card information to register on the network. This leaves your phone without a connection to the outside world. The benefits of this are the the car has a big high gain aerial so you get much better signal and the phone is doing almost nothing and so doesn't use much battery. You can copy text messages from the car to your phone, it is one of the options if you press the menu next to the message on the screen where they all display. This will copy them onto the SIM card of the phone, so you'll need to go and find them on the Galaxy. On my Galaxy S4 I have to go into the Messaging setup and then to Manage SIM Messages, I can the copy them to the phone memory where they will display as normal as part of a conversation. If you need data while you are driving then you'll need to run your phone in Hands Free Profile mode, just go into the phone menu on the Maxidot and Phone Settings and change it to the other one. At the moment you'll be set to use Premium.
  11. I've just got what I believe is a good deal on a 4 month old ex demonstrator. I've gone from a 2 year old 60,000 mile Twin Door 140 DSG L&K to a 170 4x4 DSG L&K estate with power tail gate for the same PCP payment per month. Dealer said Skoda are beginning to get rid of their fleet of MK 2 demonstrators. He also got an email knocking £2k off of his showroom estate last week. Editing to add that the current car is nearly 20,000 miles over target and has a dent big enough to need a new skin on the driver's door.
  12. Mine stay on as well, going forwards or backwards until I reach a certain speed. Again I have front as well as rear sensors, in fact the full park assist so some on the sides as well.
  13. Delete the pairing on the phone side and do it again. Keep an eye out for that tick box when you re-do it and make sure you hit the box before it times out never to appear again.
  14. If you do only have GSMII then no you cannot use RSAP, but I do not know for sure what you get in Sweden.
  15. I don't think you can, I just did a few each time I was in the car an artist at a time on my first car. This time round I got a 32gb SD card that just about takes everything I own and simply put that in the slot rather than copy anything.
  16. I don't think the system can tell the difference between an almost motorway standard multi-lane A road and an urban A road, it seems to me it uses about 35mph as the average speed for both. I find that if my route is almost all motorway then the ETA is very close to reality, but if there are A roads involved it will be way off. For instance a run from Plymouth to home (Northampton) will start out showing a 6 hour journey time, but by the time I reach the bottom of the M5 in about half an hour it will have dropped to about 3.5 hours, which is correct for an average 60-70 mph from there on.
  17. I took my driving test in a car that had hit a Great Dane dog. The bonnet was crumpled slightly and the grill was smashed up a bit but it was still road worthy and everything worked. The examiner had a good look at it and the workshop report of what they had found on inspection, but once he was happy the bonnet wasn't going to fly up he was happy to do my test in it. I also assured him it wan't me who had hit the dog! A mate had a pigeon actually come through the windscreen in a transit on the motorway once, well bits of it anyway. Luckily it was the passenger side otherwise he'd have been covered in gore and feathers rather than the passenger seat.
  18. The new Octavia has the same mirror repeaters, I'd guess if the Superb doesn't get them on the facelift then it'll get them on the mk3. If you think the Audi is cheep to run Chan try specing one up the same as Audrey and seeing the price to buy! Also factor in the price of the chiropractor for your back ache.
  19. Hope you don't have to slum it in the 4 ring heap long and she's back as good as new very soon.
  20. I once reversed a car into a wall that was ABOVE my sensors. It was in a customer's underground car park and there was a kind of 3 foot deep alcove open under the main wall. Sensors had only just started to beep when the top of the boot hit the wall. It was also all painted white and quite dark, I was watching the reflection of the reversing light off the alcove wall to judge my distance. I did notice the next time I was there that the edges had gained some hi-vis black and yellow tape to make it more obvious.
  21. I've had a similar experience with track information not showing via Bluetooth from my Galaxy SII in my car and on other head units, normally a reboot of the phone sorts it out. I would guess the files you got off your phone are non standard in some way, are you even sure they are mp3 and not some other standard like aac? I know with my Samsung I need to specify if I want an mp3 when I copy stuff off, by default it is something else my PC wont even play.
  22. How old is your car? I had this on my old car, a 58 plate, but they were replaced with a new design one time that it went in for a service.
  23. Really sorry to see this Wayne, hope it all gets sorted soon.
  24. Hi Huwcymru, is that using the regular radio or the TV to play a radio channel? My radio is fine, it is the TV that has been causing me issues since the car was delivered.
