In my mind, there's no argument against getting a Superb.
We bought a twindoor just over 3 years ago. After looking at the A6, 5 series and E class.
We just couldn't see where the Superb fell down against these others (only in the eyes of our friends (who drive 5 series or E classes!))
After 3 years of ownership we needed to swap our second car - a Ford C Max.
We chose a 170hp combi Elegance. Even better than the twindoor.
A simply brilliant car. And out friends agree.

Why do you need to open the windows in the morning? Is it because they are frozen/misted? They shouldn't be...and you also should avoid all unneeded electric charges when you set off with a frozen car (avoid dooropenings, windowlowerings, trunkopenings, folding of the mirrors, etc) because of the possibility of wear and tear on the motors and the strain on the battery.
A perfectly clean windscreen will not freeze. It's dirt and moisture that freezes. Top tips? Allrighty then...
1. When you come home in the evening, about 5 minutes from home, crack the window open. This makes sure you remove all the hot/warm/moist air out of the car. When you arrive, put the wipers in the service position. Get them off the screen.
2. Clean the windscreen, using some windex or equivalent + paper towels. Do this *every* evening when you know you have to use the car in the morning. Every month, use some Autoglym Glass Polish ( CLICK ) This will clean the windscreen proper, and add some water repelling as bonus. Also do the AG Glass Polish on the inside, should remove all dirt on the inside.
3. Get one of the cheapo windscreen covers (the silver insulated one) and put that on the windscreen. Flaps inside the doors, leave the wipers up!
4. In the hallway, we have a bucket with the "de-icing"-spray and a clean MF towel for the side windows in the morning. Clean this towel when you get home in the evening.
5. Get the pingi dehumidifier ( CLICK ) and throw it on the dash when you get home.
6. In the morning, go out with the bucket and de-ice the side windows with the spray. Remove windscreen cover, put the wipers down, put the pingi bag and the bucket back inside the house, get in the car, start the car, and drive off after 10 seconds with the heating on full demist + AC on to help with the demisting. Wear a scarf the first 10 minutes so your breath goes into the scarf instead of onto the windshield on the inside.
Additional tips;
1. Get the rubber mats. When it's wet or snowy the fabric carpets soak up moisture and keep it retained. The rubber mats can be poured out and dried inside.
2. Take off your wet coat and throw it in the boot (on your rubber boot mat, ofcourse)
3. For your particular problem, in the evening, lower your windows and clean the top of the windows and the runners with paper towels to remove all moisture.
4. You might want to check the drainage channels at the bottom of your windscreen to remove leaves, mud, etc.
5. You might want to renew your interior/pollen filter (5 seconds work, get the partnumber from the invoice of your last service and buy it off the internet or from the local dealer, doesn't cost anything) It's known to hold moisture when old.
That's about it...I had bad problems with moisture/fogging in the beginning, using AG glass polish on the inside every month made about 40% difference, the Pingi did another 40%, and the remaining 20% is taken care off by the AC in about 30 seconds. The ice forming is purely because of lazyness in the evening (not accounting for torrential freezing icing) because I didn't bother to prep the car. Bottle of "de-icer" and a clean MF towel for the side windows and 5 minutes of work in the evening is all I need to be clear in the morning.
Other notes
1. I had a replaced windscreen on my Octavia. Using a plastic ice scraper one day, the entire windscreen was scratched to hell...Even the side windows + rear were badly scratched (previous owner did that). Was it the scraper, sand on the windscreen or in the ice, or something else, I don't know. But I will *never* scrape the ice if I can help it.
2. I have a full car cover, but I don't use it. Only cover up the windshield. The thought of a plastic cover rubbing on the car panels with a bit of sand or grit between them, makes me cringe...
Bloody Hell! That's what you call comprehensive.
I prefer No2 though!

Quick go...
Nice job. Beat me to it.

Let down again.
Called to arrange for them to check out my Satnav.
Was advised I could drop it off at 10am and wander around Cheshire Oaks whilst they looked at it.
I duly arrived at 10am to be told they couldn't look at the car until 2pm. Now, I don't mind a bit of shopping but 4 hours plus????? More than I could bear.
Shan't be darkening their doors gain.

Mixed results for me.
Having been let down by Mitchells in Ellesmere Port (again) I decided to try these.
Cons:
- Was initially ignored by three employees who were having a conversation. Whilst introducing myself found a male employee interrupting me to talk across to his colleague.
- When I phoned to book the appointment I advised the Satnav wasn't working and suggested it was more than likely to be the GPS unit (lots of stories of these going wrong and the split screen was showing no GPS fix, no satellites). Despite this, after confirming the GPS unit needs to be replaced, they advise they have to order one in and I need to go back next week. More time and travel costs.
Pros:
- After looking for my keys the employee asked if I was in a hurry as they were just about to wash the car.
- Was offered a free taxi ride into town whilst they do the work next week
I'll report back when they've done the work and we'll see how good they are then.

To clarify, do you want the cloverleaf wheels photo-shopped to replace the ones on the original photo?

And I love the additional 30bhp or extra torques. It goes like **** off a shovel.
And my daughters love the electric seats.

We've had a 140pd twindoor for 3 years or so and love it.
So much so that I'm trading my C-Max in for another one. This one is a 170CR Elegance combi.
2 Superbs in the family. Not sure my side of the garage will be big enough. May have to throw out some of the crap!
Seriously though. When it comes to families and dogs, these cars cannot be beaten. End of...

4.3 on a Galaxy S4 works just fine
-
I'm on 4.4.2 on my Nexus 4 and that still works fine.
Thanks for that.
Samsung weren't able to confirm for sure. Their supervisor offered up "if it work snow it'll work after the upgrade". Doesn't fill me with confidence.

My O2 based Galaxy S4 keeps telling me to upgrade to Android 4.3
I'm reluctant to do so without being certain that this upgrades supports RSAP so I can continue to use my phone in my 09 Superb.
Has anyone upgrade to this yet and confirm whether it still connects OK please?
-
Just have to get Samsung Kies to work now!!

Excellent. Thanks very much Gerry

Hi Guys
It seams Samsung have once again implemented rSAP from ICS 4.0.4 , and also onto Jellybean 4.1.1 . I have tried both on my S3 and it connects to my car as it should , and no drop outs , rather please about that
Which model year do you have?
I have a galaxy S2 and went onto ICS when it was first available but lost RSAP with my MY09 so went back to GB.
I cannot get a reply from Samsung to confirm that ICS and JB support RSAP.
Loathe to upgrade (despite lots of benefits with the new OS) if there's even a remote chance I lose connectivity

The catch for the seat belt on the passenger seat 'squeaks' but only when the seat is occupied.
Perhaps the awful stuttering 'characteristic' (as VAG put it) of the 140 PD engine at around 1500 RPM could be added. From my point of view this is the worst thing about the car. Everything else is quite brilliant.
-
Brilliant item. I found some from a VAG dealer on Ebay at £21.
Even at £29 (massively discounted) well recommended.
Easy to fit and quality product

That is an expensive fix when out or warranty. and phew if it is in warranty
Damn (and fingers crossed). Warranty expired a month ago

I indicated today and the interior lights were blinking twice as fast as normal - as you normally get when a bulb has gone.
The computer started to tell me to check bulbs - one by one it listed every bulb in the car - helpful!
When I could stop I checked by switching on the hazards.
At the rear the orange lights were permanently on. At the front, and on the door mirrors they were normal.
Tried the indicators in turn and the same result.
An hour later, all was back to normal and no warning light.
Anyone experienced this? I'm going to France in three weeks and could do without any problems.
-
Well, I've had the Barum Bravuris 2s on for a couple of weeks and can heartily recommend them.
Done a few trips on them. Noise levels are perfectly acceptable, grip is at least on a par with the Dunlops they've replaced.
Nothing bad to say about them. We'll see how they wear.

Thanks all for the useful tips. It's not a problem then, I'm close to a few mile-long 40/50 quiet roads.
How much will this dent the MPGs if driving in town with 2nd and 3rd gears? Can you still achieve low 30s?
I'm going to try the 140CR tomorrow. If it's a similar smooth ride as the 1.8TSI at low speed while overtaking on motorways reasonably well, I'll get it.
Crikey. You should manage 30mpg whilst driving like Lewis Hamilton. I get 45 and don't exactly hang around when the opportunity arises.
-
Should this be done on a dual-carriage way without having to stop/start during the process?
I find it better on A roads eg: 40mph in 3rd gear for a few hundred yards and then 60mph in 4th etc etc. Anything with the revs well above 2500. Dual carriageway would work less effectively as you'd either be making loads of noise - 70 mph in 4th or driving too slowly and cause a hazard.
-
Thanks for this tip.
So will a 15 minutes motorway session clear this problem when it happens?
Best solution, I've found, is to stay in low gears for longer. Keep the revs higher.
-
I have a variety of driving but most is less than required to get the engine warm and the DPF working.
As a result I tend to get that really annoying judder at around the 1500 RPM mark - I think this is exacerbated when the DPF is a bit clogged and the car needs a thrash to sort it out.
Do bear that in mind.

Is it a clip to hook the handle for the boot floor onto? So you can get the spare wheel out/access the tools?
Aha!
How clever. I thought a part (like the umbrella or warning triangle)was missing.
Thanks

Has anyone worked out whether it can be stopped yet?
Mine does it randomly and, as I keep the car in the garage, it's not very good for the blade.
