  1. After 4 days we have her back. Broken gearbox seals. What does that mean? How can they break? Anyhow, job done. For now. We had a Superb Estate as a courtesy car and I cannot believe how low it is to get into or how easy it is too bump your shoulder getting in. Is it me or am I getting older?
  2. Just a reminder, with personalisation you need to use both keys frequently otherwise great man in cloud says I do not recognise you and you have to relog in remembering your password! At least it does not have to be 16 digits long alphanumeric etc. Yet. All part of VW's view of security which just makes life difficult for you.
  3. Old dealer stock and so is over 12m old. We have known mechanic for years and our instincts say trust him. Lively man. Apparently he is fascinated by leak and by booking it in for a week gives him time to dismantle things, order parts as required and reassemble within a generous time frame. Superb Estates are fine by us. Two goldies fit in nicely.
  4. P.s. Leak small, no evidence on drive but there is a cover under engine which would catch it I would imagine. Fact car booked in for 3 weeks time confirms this. I hope!!
  5. Roottoot does me a confuse. At the start of June we had the car serviced, it's first service after circa 9,000 miles. Afterwards we noticed that the a/c did not work and since we were going touring with dogs had the car booked in for it to be replaced at short notice. The service report noted the leak and so we booked car in again for that which is where we are now. Nothing mentioned to us about any recall. We drove car for a fortnight after leak was reported at service interval and after a/c fix. I assume car is being picked up by my wife who has cycled to dealer and we will return it on 25th July. References to cover confuse me - is that the bonnet!! JR I too am cynical but have no evidence of course.
  6. Rebooked in for a week commencing 27 July. Flat battery, failed a/c and now this. In all the years of owning Skodas, and I reckon it is 6 cars, we have had only 1 previous issue, a switch on our Roomster's heating controls! Cannot fault dealer but they do need more parking space!!
  7. Kodiaq 2.0 TSI 190 Sport Line 4x4 5dr DSG 8,992 miles Just been informed that the garage want it for a week! A week! Courtesy car arranged of similar flexibility (Superb Estate, Hum.) so we cannot really complain about that, but this does intrigue me hence the question. Furthermore, will a similar problem appear when the warranty expires but that is for another day.
  8. Not sure! We have 2 keys and car recognises the key which is linked to a specific user. Welcome Mandy or Welcome Me. Works fine provided each user has their own Skoda Connect portal account which assumes each user had their own email address blah, blah blah. The idea in theory is fine but execution lousy. Synchronisation failed messages when setting up user when in fact the user was set up. I do not wish to trouble anyone further since we have tamed the system but it is awful and our dealer were struggling with it too!
  9. Barely 12 months old and now we have a second warranty issue. The first was the air conditioning which was not working and required a new compressor. Now there is an oil leak behind the gearbox. This requires dismantling, assessment of the problem and possibly new parts. It is currently Thursday so we have been advised that it could be Monday before the car is back. Does anyone have experience of a similar oil leak problem behind the gearbox? I am fascinated to know the answer. Of course, this ignores the inconvenience caused but being retired it is not so much of an issue but a few years back, it would have been then.
  10. Personalisation is a pain in the backside. My wife uses the car most of the time using her key. It is the only car we have and every so often I am allowed to drive it! So I use my key but on one occasion it refused to recognise me because I had not used the car and had to reverify my credentials I.e. email address and password. All in the name of security. As if I have time for that. I am rather fed up of companies telling me what my security options are or making assumptions about our domestic arrangements! If I used the car more often it would not be a problem but really, why should I have my life intruded into because some clown thinks it is a good idea? Rant over but my experience of Skoda is dropping fast and the dealer too through no fault of the wonderful staff I should add.
  11. I blame the missus! I have read that Nextbase have licensing issues preventing multiple phone use, some thing to do with Alexa?
  12. We go for holidays in cottages in the UK. Few have charging points and in rural locations these points have few and far between. Petrol for now. One thing about specifications, I would always ask what have you lost compared to earlier versions? We bought a new Kodiaq and found we lost several useful features even though we thought that the trim was the same. For example, overtaking sensors in mirrors. This safety feature is currently not available due to a shortage of chips because of the current pandemic. It is worth looking at the latest specifications very carefully.
  13. Mrs PD decided to order Nextbase Dash Cam. Top of range, fitted by dealer. What management decrees, you shall follow. Works brilliantly. Delighted with it she was. Except.... I too drive the car and when the car recognises my key (another subject I posted on) I would like to think I can connect to the dash cam with my phone as opposed to my wife's as she is not around. Apparently you cannot even though blurb and manual suggests you can. It is incredible how many manufacturers of cars and no dash cams assume the principle user is the only user and make it impossible for the second user to take advantage of the benefits available to the main or primary user. So if ever you want to have professionally fitted a dash cam to avoid possible battery drain, you may wish to widen your research to check that second users i.e. second drivers, have ready access to the dashcam. Check that you can actually pair multiple phones.
  14. Does beg a question. You go going a walking trip and take a packed lunch in a cool box. Can you leave the cool box running for 3 hours say without fattening the battery?
  15. Sadly none that I could find. If you go into User Accounts and click on the user you will see when the settings were last synced with that user. If I recall correctly you can also manually synchronise. At the moment it all works and I even added me again when the battery was replaced recently so I think I have the hang of it!
  16. Apparently, when the car was left the Nextbase dashcam was left running - it is connected to the 12V supply (the old cigar socket!). Duff gen from my wife. Our excellent local dealer has carried out all the tests over 24 hours and even checked the battery and has found nothing wrong. The battery is fine. They suggested the dashcam drained the battery. However, the battery is new, had been fully charged on a long run down to Bath and the dash cam takes just 200mA. The car when standing alone without the dash cam takes 200mA. Therefore, a sound 70Ah 12V battery supplying 400mA should therefore last 175 hours before discharging. Unless something else happened. Of note, the car logs battery output and going through the log, the battery was fine until the very moment my wife tried to start it! It is all rather odd. (Note we regularly run a cool box and/or dash cam for longer periods and have never had a problem with the battery and as I said, the sums do not add up.) We will keep our fingers crossed. Thanks for the responses.
  17. There are no consumer items added to the car other than those supplied as standard by Skoda. I have to trust the dealer to find the problem or cause but I know as a former electrician intermittent faults are the worst to identify. This scenario is no different from any other so why it should happen on one particular day I do not know.
  18. We have a Kodiaq which is a couple of months old. My wife went to Bath (110 miles away) and parked the car overnight in the hotel car park. First thing in the morning she started it, moved it forward an inch to open the tail gate to get something out and then closed the car. She locked it. 6 hours later the battery was flat. AA man got the car going and the battery was fine but we do not trust that the problem will not recur. Back to dealer for 2 day check. There were no alarm messages or any faults logged. No evidence of tampering. Incidentally and coincidentally I could not get into skoda connect nor could my wife though she can now as main user. (Problem, skoda working on it) How can a car almost fully discharge its new and healthy battery in 6 hours when it is locked up and closed down? AA man (who has a Kodiaq!) suggested something did not shutdown properly but what? Fear it will happen again unless an explanation is found. Anyone with similar experiences?
  19. If it ain't broke, leave it alone! One thing occurs to me and that is when you set up User Profiles, the car is communicating with a server somewhere in the cloud using your mobile phone. If I am sat on the drive my phone is still connected to the WiFi at home but only just. Likewise with the car door closed 4G is not 4G if you know what I mean. Poor WiFi connection means low data rates and possible disconnection and the phone network signal is not so good. I can well imagine communication being unreliable during setup and at best slow. At the end I was actually disconnecting home WiFi and leaving the car door open - with ear muffs on as you have to have the ignition on!
  20. Indeed, all about value imho backed by good dealers.
  21. Noted this. Thought I would bump it up. Is a picture actually meant to be seen on the infotainment system? File type and size may be an issue but cannot be sure. Someone on this forum said dealer phoned Skoda and said it could not be done!
  22. We have just taken our Kodiaq in for its second anniversary service. Free service apparently yet we ended up buying a new one there and then. We collected it 2 days later. Pre-registered dealer stock but just what we wanted.
  23. To all those who replied, thank you. It is right that I give feedback on what has happened since and can confirm that I am now able to go to the car with one key, unlock the car and the car will adjust the settings for that particular key. I can lock the car, and then go back with the second key, unlock the car with the second key and it will adjust to the settings for the second key / user. I can repeat the process for the first key and so it appears I have 2 keys, each one linked to a particular Named User Profile. Better still, I now have two profiles each with a personalised name and so the car says Welcome Sam or whatever depending upon which profile the key is linked to. Progress but is it reliable? We will see. (By the way, we did not choose a third key option whatever that does. It seems just like another key, no more, no less) The dealer was helpful and tried to help but we had to find out the hard way...... My wife is the Prime User and has a Connect account and the car is linked to that account by using the VIN number. When I tried to use a computer to set up my own account using my own email address, Connect insisted I entered a VIN number which would in effect be taken from my wife's account. I aborted that attempt but the account must have been created. So I tried to create a User from within the car using my own email address and it too told me to go away as the email address already existed! So I tried to set up a profile using the existing user option using my details and it looked as if something was happening. Until the sync failed message came up. Tried again and system appeared to lock up. However when I went into User Profiles my own name was there next to my wife's name and indeed next to the Guest Profile! Something had happened and so by trial and error, synchronising my account with my settings, things are looking much brighter. Wonder of the software update today helped? So it looks as if we are getting there but the manuals are lousy and outdated. The online manuals vague and lacking in detail merely hinting at what could be done. It is a mess. But I am happier, the car goes like nothing I have ever driven before, is comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Ideal for our lifestyle which electric cars cannot yet satisfy. SatNav dodgy though. It would not recognise Southend postcodes albeit the it could find the roads. Am I right in stating that in the past some postcodes were not recognised unless you adjusted the SatNav settings for UK? Cannot find this setting now but I may be mistaken. And the cheapskates only supplied 1 umbrella. Dealer kindly put that right.
  24. No - not aware that this was available? Or indeed what it did!
  25. Having spoken to the dealer (they are all very helpful there) the move by Skoda to the app has removed a practical feature and is a massive, retrograde step. Two keys, two users but the second user who jointly owns the damned thing has to remember to adjust his seat, his mirrors, the ambient lighting (not a big deal but you should get my point) and in effect it is as if Skoda do not want the second user to drive the car. Having paid well over £40,000 for the car I have to say that there are better options out there and if anyone from Skoda is reading this and I doubt it, pull your finger out. Cars are shared, personal details likewise shared and if I wish to nip up to Tesco to get some milk I should not have to faff around adjusting seats and mirrors. My old 2019 Kodiaq was much, much better. I feel cheated.
