Evening all, Well after 11yrs and 1 day of ownership from new, i waved goodbye to my fabia. It was a sad day to see it go, but i know the new owners will look after it, and its still local to me. So i will still see it around. Its been a great car, as many fellow owners know. Nothing major ever went wrong, just your normal wear and tear. Overall, a great car. I have moved to a different manufacturer now. Still part of VAG group though. A VW polo bluegt. It,s a 1.4 petrol turbo charged 140bhp. Nice car, quite punchy, but hasn,t got the grunt of the fabia though, but so far, its all good. The fabia The Polo I,ll still be looking on here regularly. A big thank you for the folks who run this site, all the peoples advice and help, and all the folks ive met on here, Cheers George

Central Locking & Window Gremlins
George replied to Mrrnoname's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I had a very simular problem to you. When i opened my passengers door, the central locking would go up and down on its own. The rubber trunking which goes from the door to the A pillar. If you pull that away from the A pillar, you can see 4 block connectors. If you pull the connectors out and have a look at those. Mine looked like some moisture had got in there, and one of the pins that the connector goes into had broken off. I made a temporary repair with a small piece of steel wire. Its been like it for 2 wks now, and i haven,t had a problem since. I am thinking of cutting the 2 wires and soldering them together now to save any problems in the future. I dont know if this will cure your problem, but i might be worth having a look. Hope you can understand what ive said, and if you have any further questions, give us a shout. George -
It looks good Karl. I shall have to pop up sometime and have a nosey round it .

Ive just read this build thread from the start. I met Ben last saturday. He is a real nice fella. We had a good chat and a look round his car. The time and effort, and the work he has done is brilliant. I give him full respect for doing it. It was good to meet you, and hopefully meet up again, George.

George replied to benjen's topic in Wheels & Tyres For Sale
Hi, are these all straight,no dings or buckles, Cheers George -
The car did feel a bit more responsive after fitting them, but I did give the EGR a good clean while it was off, that's what probably made the difference

I've got the ASZ engine, with a remap . I put the 2 blanking plates on mine, I left all the vacuum pipes on aswell. It was ok for a few weeks, but then the eml came on

Thank you, you are a star. I shall give it ago tomorrow after work, Thanks again George

Thanks for that, I've taken the bonnet release handle, & the trim panel off now. I still can't see how the check strap can come off, unless I have to take the arch liner off & get it out that way

Hi all, my front drivers door strap is broken. the door isn,t staying open on its own. Ive bought the new part for replacing the old one, but i cant for the life of me seem how remove the old one. There are 3 bolts holding it on, 1 on the door, and 2 into the "a pillar". Do i have to remove the "a pillar" panel with the bonnet release lever on, to remove the check strap through there. If so, how do i remove the bonnet release lever. Any help / advice would be gratefull, many thanks
