  1. I came Back today from shopping at asda and then went to the retail park. Once I unload the shopping at home I noticed a small dent in the boot dead central below the number plate approx 2" from the lip. I reversed in to the bay at asda and there is a safety barrier directly behind and then at the retail park I reversed into the bay which had a barrier around the street light. I have the elegance model and now used to the sensors but there wasn't a damage to the bumper at all. Wasn't there Tuesday when I washed the car and only been to the vets and I waited in the car when the missus went in. Absolutely puzzled how it got there. Sometimes it defies logic how dents etc end up on a car
  2. I used the insurance as I had an ICD implanted and wasn't allowed to drive. Thought I be ok as I was expecting it to be end of march. Explained the situation to the dealer and he told me to use the 7 day insurance and put my brother as a named driver. Really easy to set up and saves you having to post/ drop your insurance details to the dealer. Picked up the car but unfortunately had to sit on the drive for 3 weeks but now making up 4 lost time
  3. i was with swift cover which charged me £363 to change to the fabia from the focus. in the end i wet with admiral through confused.com for £181 with courtesy car legal cover and free european cover as well. i'm 37 with the gf as named driver and 15 years no claims
  4. Thanks all for the info. Will get in touch with someone in south Wales who can do some vcds for me over the next few weeks. Will having other features enabled affect any warranty issues? Thanks
  5. Thanks again gizmo. Will look to see if anyone lives near to me in south Wales. Is there any other options that can be added to the maxidot menu. SWMBO wants the autolock/unlock feature enabled on the car
  6. Hi fabia. Just been out and manage to record the voice tag. I see what you mean by it being hit and miss. You say a name it doesn't recognised the name but then it highlights on the maxidot. It is fustrating no where as good as the Ford handsfree system in my old focus. And the controls are bit limited on the MFSW- its not that bad but I think for the money your paying out it should be alot more user friendly and be able to use the steering wheel controls more
  7. Thanks gizmo. Will have to look into that. Is it something the dealer can do as I'm working down by the dealership next week.
  8. I've only been out a few times due to a recent op and not really found any problems with a delay pulling out of junctions. Overall I find it really great. Find the armrest gets in the way of the handbrake at times but I tend to leave it up around town
  9. Wasn't really paying to much attention the speedometer I just tend to quickly glance to check the speed. Honestly I don't know why they not put in a dual display speedometer and both options on the maxidot. I tend to look more at the Maxidot due to the DSG
  10. Thanks. Only just noticed the analogue display. Bit of a pain but have to get used to it
  11. Hi all. Well eventually collected the car on sataurday. Been playing about with it and so far I'm well impressed with it. Just been out and about locally down here in the welsh valleys and quite impressed with the 1.2tsi DSG setup with the hills. I found leaving in D is more than adequate for the hills. So far the only thing that's I find frustrating is the secondary speed being in km/h. Been through the manual and can't seem to change it to MPH. Are there anyone out there who knows if this can be changed and if it can any info be muchly appreciated. I have the elegance spec with the maxidot display. Also how is everyone getting on with the Bluetooth hands free system. I don't think the voice recognition is as good as the Bluetooth system in my 08 focus zetec sport. It was able to record your own contacts and was easy to use. Suppose it just having to adjust to the new system. Thanks
  12. might call down and have a look at one. only thing is i carry alot of expensive power tools and cable so dont want any prying eyes. might look to see if i can get a ply lined bulkhead fitted and privacy glass to the rear windows
  13. It's a pity they dont sell it over here but I reckon it will severely hit the VW caddy sales so probably that's the reason why we can't get it over here. I'm currently driving a long wheel base Fiat Scudo- great van- but now require a smaller van. Tried the new caddy and being 6ft 5 unable to get a tidy driving position. I got a new fl fabia and can't believe the space and comfort it provides. So might have a look at a roomster and see how about converting it to a van. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. i see it comes with the drivers pack but as i was ordering the elegence model i added it as a seperate extra, so i take it should come with it then. sorry to sound stupid lol
  15. i'm be waiting for the comments of my 2 neighbours, when i get mine on sat, who both got polos-looking forward to wiping the smug looks of their faces
  16. what a stupid thing that is having to pull twice on the handle-will have to make sure thats enabled too
  17. thanks for your replies-i'm phoning the dealer tomorrow and asking for the auto locking to be activated-i'm true in believing that when you turn the ignition off the doors will also auto unlock rather than to press the unlock button in the car. i do a inspection as well on the body work. and i specced the mdi interface but in both brochures (oct 2010 and jan2011) and cant see any reference to a lead being included
  18. well after along wait the car has eventually arrived at the dealers on friday. is there anything i need check for/request before i collect the car i the week. i have seen a few threads on here regarding the central locking which may require coding etc. i've ordered a 1.2tsi dsg elegance hatch. thanks for any help on the matter
  19. Unlucky mate, my partner had a pacemaker fitted not long ago and she will have to sit in passenger seat for another week yet (good for me ), not for her Reply Thanks don that's the reason I went for the DSG model as the other half hasn't driven for nearly 20 years now. Last update from the dealer said delivery end of march but alot seem to be coming thru alot quicker now. Seen the consultant end of the December and basically didn't think I have it fitted so quick- I'm lucky really as it was fitted for preventive measure I only got to stop driving for the month rather than the normal 6 months and I don't have the hassle of informing the dvla. Hope your partner doing all ok. Just waiting for the painkillers to kick in so I can get back to sleep. Well enjoy your baby when she turns up next week. What model did you go for after
  20. Oops trying to do this post on a iPod touch. Basically just got out from hospital after having a ICD fitted and not allowed to drive for a month. Rang the dealer and bit of a mix up. The car is at the dealers :( explained to them and they been great. Suggested I get a mate to drive me down to them and put them on the free 7 day drive around insurance and he can drive it home 4 me. But I have to look at it parked on my drive till the 24th march boo hoo.
  21. SWMBO rang me today saying the dealer had rang saying my car will be delivered next week to the dealer-typical ordered it on 7th October a
  22. I ordered a 1.2tsi DSG hatch elegance with a few extras. Was reluctant in having an automatic but the missus would prefer an automatic. Took one for a test drive and was really impressed by the DSG. It Was a vRS as no 1.2 available to test drive so hopefully won't be disappointed with the 1.2. Love to have the vRS but it's been along time since she driven and it be too much of a car for her so perhaps in a year or so might treat myself to the vRS
  23. well after what seems to be an eternity, my car is being build, so hope it was worth the wait (ordered 08/10/2010) , but should be happy as i'm getting the MY2011 with a few extras as standard now for the price of the 2010 model. what is usually the time from being build to picking it up at the dealers. going in next week for a op and not allowed to drive for a month, so in theory it be the 24th march before i can drive. is it possible to state to the dealer i want to collect on certain date. SWMBO has got a driving licence but has'nt driven for nearly 20 years and theres no way i'm letting her loose in it yet, so she def not be picking it up. thanks for any help in the matter.
  24. thanks for your replies. put my mind at rest. just wish it will turn up soon lol
  25. was speaking to a college the other day and he has TPMs fitted o his hyundai i30. his snapped off last week and what he had to do was a bit of a nightmare. had to go to dealer to order 1, collect it, then take it to have the tyre fitted at ATS because it was a lease car and then back to dealer to have it calibrated, over 6 days to sort it out ad the valve cost 80 quid. i ordered the TPM as an extra on my fabia elegance, so what is the procedure if A: you have to change a tyre, do i f to return to dealer to have system reset B: cost of replacement valves as i'm thinking i might not bother with this extra and might just cancel it being fitted thanks richard
