  1. Where is any of this enforced in the UK? It simply isn't. Where have insurance claims failed as a result not using homologated tyres? Certainly it's possible for EU countries, and I agree inspection is tougher (especially TuV) but not in the UK. You go to your local tyre place, they look at the sidewall, they tell you the prices for the budget, medium and high brands and thats that. In an MOT, tyre condition is checked, but you'll only get an advisories or fails is the tyre is aged or in an unaccepable condition. To be clear, I do tend to stick with whatever the OE tyre is for my cars - Continentals for my Mercedes and the Karoq (should it ever get built) will get the same Michelins that it came with for as long as possible, but if people think that we get penalised for using non manufacturer recommended tyres in the UK, then they are clearly mistaken. The majority of the UK population simply don't have tyre choices top of mind when it comes to ratings, seasons etc because there isn't the focus nor legal obligation for people to care, other than keep them pumped up and free of dangerous wear.
  2. Gordon Bennett, You are over thinking this. You don't get an approved tyre for the car, you get what the manufacturers supply and fit at the time. There are many tyres that were fitted to cars before which aren't available now. The critical bit is that you fit the right sized tyre and the speed rating meets or exceeds what came with the car. The quality of the tyre is irrelevant to a degree - which is why joe bloggs simply goes to the tyre fitters and say "cheapest tyres please".
  3. That’s nuts. You ordered precisely one month after me and you won’t get anything until Feb / March!
  4. I’d be asking about retrofitting the USB C by the mirror. Brand new car and having all those wires everywhere doesn’t sound right to me! EDIT: didn’t read the comment about the mirror USB also turning off. What do the dealers do for the nextbase devices they offer then?
  5. My week 33 build Karoq is finally completed and apparently on its way now, so I would hope there will be movement for you Kodiaq owners. I think that 2 week closure did clear out a lot of the backlog
  6. Well that was quick. I guess accurate order tracking is out of the window now and they are just throwing them out of the factory. Regarding the prices. I'm leasing mine, and I have an invoice of the costs I'll need to pay for the car. I've had no indication that the price I've been quoted for monthlies and final value will be any different.
  7. Funny you should say that. I also found out this afternoon (after moaning above) that mine is status 30 and also on its way. We are probably on the same boat!
  8. Quite why Skoda haven't gone down the route of simply providing a status page you can login to like other VAG product sort of baffles me. I'm well aware that Skoda, VW, Audi all likely use different backend systems which will be different to integrate with and I'm willing to bet that the poor individuals behind the chat windows are being hammered throughout their day. I work in the area of improving the end-customer experience and it's little things like this which will catch them out long term because the customer will simply class their buying experience as poor. They don't differentiate Skoda CS chat and the dealers as different entities - they are one Skoda. What I feel needs to happen with the backlog customers is that they need to start receiving more detailed information. I.e. "Your car is in an airfield awaiting parts x y and z. The estimate for these parts is x days/weeks". There needs to be a better process now. Being told "your car is mid production" over and over via a chat mechanism or contact via your dealer is a stupendous waste of time. Just needs an order checking portal!
  9. I was told “it should be back next week”. My actual hope is that I get the car this side of Christmas, We have already missed a few key events that having a new family SUV would have been useful for. The Skoda factory is apparently shutdown for one more week to try and work through the backlog, so I am ever hopeful.
  10. Lets hope our cars are all within this 10000 backlog eh https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/skoda-halts-output-two-weeks
  11. I tried the chat yesterday, they said that the order status reporting wasn’t available as it was being updated and told me to try next week.
  12. We are all ears if you want to provide a better explanation Boyo!
  13. Which is the same status for me, it might be not so much the high models being prioritised but the blocks of models being produced. I remember the dealer saying that originally we could have the car a couple of weeks sooner if we had it in a colour other than quartz grey. So it’s more likely scheduling. I just want them to schedule line sooner! 😂
  14. Nice! Not putting 2 + 2 together, but the last three orders which have gone out have been editions specs. I wonder if my SEL is further down the pecking order.
  15. Great news! What was your spec?
  16. I’ll be fairly miffed if the orders are open for the facelift before I’ve gotten mine, but ours should fall into the “mild facelift” category anyway - new steering wheel etc.
  17. Congratulations! Lets hope you have enough fuel to get it home, given the current climate!! Dealer mailed to say mine still hasn't moved. Crazy.
  18. I dithered about Virtual Cockpit, but the price was quite a lot as an option on the lease. I love my tech, but after watching a lot of the walkthrough vids of it, even i though it was a bit underwhelming. I'm excited about adaptive cruise though, I've wanted it on cars for years.
  19. I’d rather an impact in a Karoq compared to a mini though!
  20. Probably not the greatest idea to put your name, address, phone number and VIN out on the Internet.
  21. The dealer did kindly dig deeper, but mine has the family pack option which is now withdrawn. Apparently the different door switch part might be an issue, so I might have the car delivered without the different window switch for controlling the rear doors, just the standard one. But also as above, the car could be arbitrarily being withheld, so who knows. Aim for Xmas and anything else will be a bonus!
  22. And I’ve been confirmed that my week 33 build car is still not fully built. No idea on ETA, so let’s just hope for a Christmas delivery at this point
  23. The thing is with aircon is that very very few people ever look after their systems, and that "has been working fine for years" turns quickly into "only needs a regas" when it comes to selling the car on. The lay public barely service their cars. 2 years is pretty soon, I tend to service mine every 5 years or so. The Missus' 2004 fabia still has ice cold aircon and that's because it has been looked after. Paying dividends with a toddler in this hot weather!
  24. Seymansey replied to Cvak's topic in Skoda Karoq
It's not for sale as new by Skoda at the moment, likely due to the chip shortages. There are some rough renders floating about for a facelift at the moment, but technically the 2021 Karoqs have had a mild facelift already (updated steering wheel, infotainment, etc).
  25. I tried to find a production vid of one with the Karoq, but there are none (bar one or two 10 second snippets of one in the background. Would like to see a Karoq specific one. BTW, I read on the karoqforums that someone had an order with the 'Family Pack' which comprises of tinted windows, a bin for the back and a different electric window switch which controls the back doors for auto child locks separately. Their order was being held up because of those locks. The configuration the Skoda site sure enough doesn't have the auto locks included with the family pack anymore, so hopefully my car isn't held up just because of two extra buttons on the door. But who knows eh. It was meant to be delivered this Thursday, so I'm hoping my dealer will update me this week as they said they would (not holding out...)
