Sounds like what I had with my last Octi (2.0 BKD)
Starts from cold, runs okay until warm. Then splutters under load and cuts out when you slow down. Then it's very hard to start again.
I replaced :
- Injector loom
- Injectors
- Fuel filter
- Fuel pick up pump
- Fuel pump relay
- Tandem pump
- MAF sensor
- Fuel and other temp senors
Couldn't get to replace the speed or crank sensor, Never found what the issue was. But knowing my luck it could of been one of those last two sensors!
Towed it to a garage who had a look, couldn't test drive it as no MOT, Went to give it one and failed it. So after that I gave up!

I'm tempted to install some type of exhaust flap to keep it quiet... Until the taps open
But at the moment, Weather is cold, damp and I don't have a lot of time these days due to work. So will be a while until something happens.

So then, which parts will be seeing there way onto the new one from the old one?
Looks like a nice clean car, colour is nice as well.
Yeah it's really clean. Can't find anything wrong with it. (Bar the front springs looking quite rusted) But those will be going soon.
Mostly engine parts, Turbo, FMIC, Pipes etc... Maybe part of the rear badge and replace it with a 1.2MPi badge
Bwhahah

Is that similar to the "Its staying standard" or "Im not modifying this car" statement

I do not believe that there are dump valves for diesels. Whilst I've installed one years back for a friend on his diesel Fabia VRS, You couldn't hear it over the diesel itself, that and it spat oil over the engine over time. It was soon removed and binned.
The best you could do, is straight pipe exhaust, open cone filter, possibly decat/PDF delete.
Straight pipe. Decat. EGR delete. Open cone. S212 Hybrid turbo.

Man that is an absolute tragedy, so much love and attention gone into this car :(
Still, a fresh project when you can start one could be good for the soul!
Needed! A new project will be on the cards in the future

I can fully understand why you don't want to mod the next car. Nothing wrong with having a standard car either. I've been thinking of packing in modding myself lately and just getting something standard. Maybe a break will do you some good. I'm sure you'll end up modding again in the future tho haha.
Damn, that would have been seriously epic. I've been thinking about a wide arch kit but time and money wouldn't allow it to happen.
My itchy fingers are looking forward to treating this battered work horse to some TLC. It's seen some miles and a bit rough around the edges. So will be good to do a patch up. I learn by doing and I've learnt a lot from the Octi, should be able to hand most of those things I've learnt to the Passat.
The Octi has been quite epic already.
Don't think I'll have another car featured on an advertisement campaign any time soon! It's had it's high points and low, but as mentioned, Started new full time work in Gatwick and I need something to mash the miles, be comfy and be more reliable.

That's a real shame, was hoping you would manage to get it sorted. Was one of my favourite Octavia's.
Time will tell what's next. Think I need a break from modifying cars for a while, whilst I focus on my new job (That and the blood sweat tears and heartache sometimes isn't worth it)
The next phase would of been : Sell the airlift, coil overs, wider wheels, wide arch it, massive BYC spoiler ( Which was in progress, but had to tell the guy to not make the finished item!
)

Be sad to see this put back to standard, looked awesome. Did the problem get sorted for the running issue as well?
Running issue was never solved.
Will be stripped of the good parts (Turbo, FMIC, hardpipes, Airlift) and then the shell put on eBay as breaking for bits for a while. And then scrapped.

One Passat B5 estate, 1.9TDi 90, 236k (Barely ran in!) £300
Just have to run it for the year and should of have enough money saved by then for something nice.
Now for the stripping of the Octi. Still a bit sad about it all, but things change.

At the moment, a bit strapped for cash. So plan is to get a cheap diesel motorway pounder and save the pennies until I can afford something better.
I did think about finding a Fabia VRS, But I don't have the money for one right now. Maybe next year.

After some thought today, I have decided that I am no longer going to keep the car.
In due time I will be stripping it down and selling parts off onto eBay.
It's been fun yes, but I think it's time to move on now. I've started a new full time job in Gatwick and as boring as it is, It's probably time for something more sensible.

Vass-Tech called to say that the Skoda is running again. They got it started and it's started every time they've turned the key. Ran up to temperature and it's ran okay. They've not driven it as it doesn't have an MOT currently. So they're going to do that for me. Should hopefully have it back some time next week before the weekend. Then I can drive it up to temperature and see what it does.
As my memory is poor, I can't recall the full details to what was wrong, other than it just wasn't getting enough fuel. So I think more than likely the pick up pump is to blame again (Wasn't a brand new unit, I brought used) Might give them a call later just to ask what has been done again as I can't remember and if the pump was replaced. Once I have it back however, Will be giving it a run near home with a tow on standby just in case the problem isn't solved. I really hope it is.

I've ordered all kinds from them. Side skirts, front bumper parts, spoilers, grills, lights, yadda yadda... Can't really report of any problems. Shipping time varies however.

Sad to hear of the continual problems. Has there been any progress via the local garage?
Not yet no, Failed to mention it doesn't go in until the 8th
Garage was quite booked up.
Hopefully good news shouldn't be too far away. Knowing my luck, it will go in and a day later "Oh we changed one sensor and it works now"
But more than likely a sensor I can't get to!
-
Ah, Forgot to update here.
Changed the injector loom to no effect. Gave up after that, it's been about two months now of head scratching and doing what I can do, but booked it into Vass-tech for the 8th. See what they can find... -
I went from 140, to 230 on the original clutch, Still okay and it's been about 3 years now since the map
You'll be fine

Looking sharp

Right, I gave up.
Did everything I could do but it wasn't enough. I'm out of ideas now and out of time.
So bit the bullet and booked it into a local garage. Can only guess how much of a hit the wallet is going to get...

Well I'm still waiting for my injector swap. Got a used one from fleabay plus new seals and set of bolts for the injector and finger rocker strip as they are use once bolts. A trusted car guru told me it's quite unusual for PD injectors to fail hence taking a gamble on a used one. New they are £700 from a dealer. EACH!!!! Yikes!
*Urk*
Yeah... I think I'll stick to used for now! Will be removing mine tomorrow and dropping them off to a shop to work on/clean ect

Good luck - I have the same engine!
Do you fancy a swap? Got a bag of chocolate buttons to seal the deal...

I think that's for trip times. There's two banks if you will so you can track two trips 1 & 2.
On the right stork, the two switches on the very end cycle info, the button on the underside of the stock I think switches between trip 1 and trip 2.
